Durig this period there have bee umerous software ad hardware revisios as part of the cotiuous improvemet process. Some of the older hardware compoets have reached or are earig the ed of their life cycle ad BE recommeds upgradig these systems before it becomes a uplaed ecessity. BENEFITS ACHIEVED BY UPGRADING: Risk caused by failure of older compoets resultig i lost time, lost productio, higher repair ad part costs (if available) is elimiated Hardware is brought up to curret stadards (PLCs, computers, etc. as required) Future ehacemets (drive upgrades) are more easily ad ecoomically accomplished because of the Etheret commuicatio Latest versio of ITALYCS 5 HMI icludes may ehacemets over previous versios (see ITALYCS 5 specific ifo below) Siemes idustrial computers ad Touch Screes are ow stadard (much more robust tha previous cloe computers)
UPGRADES OPTIONS There are various upgrade optios available depedig o the existig system s ITALYCS versio ad compoet mix. All previous versios of ITALYCS are upgradeable. Geerally, upgrades from ITALYCS 2 iclude a ew cosole, mai computer, remote computer (optioal), ad PLC. Upgrades from ITALYCS 4 do ot require a ew cosole or PLC (as log as the existig PLC is CotrolLogix) but the remaiig equipmet stays the same. ITALYCS 5 ENHANCEMENTS The ITALYCS software is costatly evolvig as a result of BE s iovatio ad customer iput. Ehacemets to ITALYCS 5 over previous versios iclude: Faster respose to user iput Microsoft SQL Server is ow used to store values, set-poits, etc. for a period of oe year. This is a more robust database tha used i previous ITALYCS versios. Simplified ad more user friedly meu system All user iput is via touch scree, although keyboard & mouse are still supported Security is ow fully cofigurable for groups or idividuals Alarm Viewer sorts alarms by alarm level (urget, warig, otice) ad status with color codig. Urget, uackowledged alarms are show at the top of the page. Improved appearace takes advatage of latest display techology (DirectX) Ay ITALYCS scree i updated apps ca ow be saved as a XPS documet, this is a ope stadard (ECMA=388) Computers are ow Siemes idustrial computers, PLC s are Alle-Bradley CotrolLogix, both have a prove track record of great fuctioality ad reliability. Commuicatio betwee the ITALYCS computers ad PLC is via Etheret (for CotrolLogix PLCs), commuicatio to the drives depeds o the type of existig drives. Customers will sometimes opt to replace their existig drives at the same time as a ITALYCS upgrade (drive replacemet if required would be quoted separately due to the large variatio i size/umber of drives betwee lies). For older lies, the drives are ofte obsolete makig parts ad service more difficult ad expesive, thus makig the justificatio to replace the drives more attractive. Replacig the drives allows Etheret commuicatio to them ad also full remote access (remote access is ot available if commuicatio to the drives is via Scaport, DeviceNet, or CotrolNet). For remote troubleshootig ad service, a router is provided with all upgrades to allow access by BE techicias (a iteret coectio must be provided by customer).
