Oce this scree is displayed, you ca eter the commads that give you access to the various AUDIX screes. 6. Eter the commad that allows you to access the AUDIX scree that you wat. 6 AUDIX Admiistratio Screes AUDIX Admiistratio Screes Istructios i this help system assume that you used the sa logi to access the AUIDX system. The istructios for scree avigatio ad data etry also apply to the vm logi, although the vm logi may ot allow access to some AUDIX admiistratio screes. CAUTION: The AUDIX system allows more tha oe perso to perform the same fuctio usig the same scree, for example, addig a user to the AUDIX system database. However, if two people happe to be, for example, editig the same user s profile, oly the chages made by the perso who saves the scree last are writte to the system database. The other perso s chages are lost. Accessig Admiistratio Screes Through the AUDIX admiistratio screes you view iformatio, eter iformatio, or select available system optios. You access the various AUDIX admiistratio screes primarily via commads that you type at the commad lie. To follow alog with explaatios i this sectio, use the sa or vm logi to access the AUDIX Commad Prompt Scree. See Loggig I for more iformatio. NOTE: The terms user ad subscriber are used iterchageably throughout these procedures. They are equivalet terms; however, subscriber is used o the screes ad is the commad word you must type at the commad lie, for example, chage subscriber Jae Doe. 7 Scree Layout AUDIX Admiistratio Screes Layout of the AUDIX Commad Prompt Scree represets the basic layout of the AUDIX Commad Prompt (AUDIX Admiistratio) scree. Scree Compoets The Compoet Descriptios: AUDIX Commad Prompt Scree table provides details about each area of the AUDIX Commad Prompt (AUDIX Admiistratio) scree. Stadard Scree Fuctio Keys Several fuctio keys perform stadard actios regardless of the scree you are viewig. Other commads are uique to a particular scree. The followig table describes the purpose of each stadard fuctio key. Whe the cursor is i the commad lie, F3 requests executio of the commad. Note: RETURN has the same effect as F3 (Eter) whe the cursor is o the commad lie. O a scree, RETURN moves the cursor forward from oe field to the ext. Clears a etire field i a scree or a sigle keyword from the commad lie. For example, if the commad lie cotais the commad list cos ad you press F4, the commad lie chages to list. Whe the cursor is o the commad lie, pressig this key is idetical to typig the help commad; that is, it displays a scree explaiig all the types of help available i the AUDIX system. The field help meu provides a explaatio of the field ad a list of valid values or actios for the field. Whe a field meu is displayed, pressig F6 agai selects the highlighted item from the meu. (3 of 3) Chagig the Sequece of the AUDIX Fuctio Keys The fuctio keys show o the last lie of the scree appear i the default order for AUDIX. You ca chage the sequece of these fuctio keys to match the sequece used by the System Access Termial (SAT) or Maager 1 admiistratio tools for the System 75 switch ad the DEFINITY Commuicatios System Geeric 1 ad 3. 10 AUDIX Admiistratio Screes To chage the sequece of keys: 1. Eter toggle fuctio-keys at the commad lie. The key sequece chages from the default order to that of the SAT or Maager 1, or vice-versa. The Commad Lie This sectio describes the sytax for the commads that activate the AUDIX admiistratio screes. Verb-Object Sytax The commads to activate the AUDIX admiistratio screes follow a verb-object sytax. A qualifier such as a user or machie ame may be added to some verb-object commads. The structure of the AUDIX scree-activatio commads is: Verb or Verbs Object or Object Phrase Qualifier or Qualifiers Each of these three elemets of the commad-lie is described below. Commad-Lie Verbs The first elemet of the commad-lie is the verb, which specifies the type of actio. The followig is a list of AUDIX verbs i the commad-lie. Those marked with a asterisk ( * ) are complete commads; that is, they are ever combied with objects or qualifiers. Gettig Started - 10 Issue 1

This is usually a scree ame. The scree ame cosists of oe or more words that idetify the scree. If more tha oe word is used, you must type a hyphe betwee the two words to esure that the object phrase has o embedded spaces. Scree ames are geerally (but ot always) the same as the title of the scree as it appears o your moitor. Examples of objects ad object phrases are alarms, measuremets, remote-messages, subscribers, ad systemparameters. Commad-Lie Qualifiers The third elemet of the commad-lie is the qualifier. A commad-lie qualifier ca be a user extesio umber (12345), a date (7/21/99), a user ame ( Jae Doe ), ad other specific parameters. Note that a qualifier with a embedded space, such as the user ame Jae Doe, must be put i quotatio marks, such as: Jae Doe. Variatios of Commads You ca activate most screes by more tha oe versio of a commad. The differet versios of the scree-activatio commad are distiguished by the verb that begis the commad lie, ad the qualifiers that ed it. For example, there are four versios of the commad to activate the Subscriber scree: Gettig Started - 11 Issue 1

12 AUDIX Admiistratio Screes add subscriber ame/umber chage subscriber ame/umber display subscriber ame/umber remove subscriber ame/umber All of these commads activate the Subscriber scree with iformatio about the user, whose ame or telephoe umber you typed. The display ad remove versios of the commad activate a display-oly versio of the scree. The add ad chage versios of the commad activate a data etry versio of the scree that allows you to make chages to the features assiged to the AUDIX user specified by ame/umber. Commad-Lie Abbreviatio For most scree-activatio commads, you ca eter a miimum uique subset of the full commad strig ad the system expads the etry. For example, the commad chage system-parameters sedig-restrictios ca be abbreviated to ch sy s sice this is a uique subset of the full commad. The abbreviatio of each word i the commad must be represeted by the first letters of the word i the correct spellig order, where is the miimum umber of letters that uiquely specifies the commad word. As a geeral rule, is equal to 2. I other words, it usually takes two characters to uiquely idetify each elemet of the commad lie. There are two exceptios to the correct-spellig rule: aoucemet-set is abbreviated ac, ad class of service is abbreviated cos. Gettig Started - 12 Issue 1

However: The strig chg sys s is ot acceptable because chg is ot the first three letters of "chage" The strig ch s s is ot acceptable because ch s is ot uique; that is, it could also mea chage subscriber or chage system-parameters. Note that hypheated words such as system-parameters ad sedig-restrictios are treated as sigle words. Commad Structure You ca build a commad oe word at a time. For example, at the begiig of the commad lie you ca press F6 (Choices) to see a list of all valid commad verbs. If you the eter ch, the system expads ch to chage ad lists all valid words that ca follow chage. If you the eter sy, the system expads the commad lie to chage system-parameters ad lists all valid words that ca follow. If you eter a strig that is ot a valid commad word or is ot a valid or uique abbreviatio, the system otifies you of the mistake. If you omit a required commad qualifier such as a user ame or extesio, or a port address, the system prompts you for the missig iformatio. Commad-Lie Help While you are eterig a commad, pressig the F6 (Choices) fuctio key displays a meu of allowable commad words i the activity widow. The choices displayed deped o the positio of the cursor i the commad lie. That is, the allowable commad words displayed whe you press F6 (Choices) are oly those commad words that ca follow the word or Gettig Started - 13 Issue 1

Select from the choices displayed o the meu by usig the TAB key or arrow keys, or by typig the first oe or two characters of the desired meu choice. Commad History ad Commad-Lie Editig The system memory retais a list of the 10 most recetly etered commads. After you eter a commad, you ca scroll back through a list of previous commads usig the UP ARROW key. Each time you press the UP ARROW key, the previous commad i the commad list is retrieved. Each time you press the DOWN ARROW key, the ext commad i the commad list is retrieved. The retrieved commad is placed o the commad lie with the cursor at the ed of the lie. This is a coveiet way to reeter commads cotaiig user ames or telephoe umbers, for example, without retypig the etire commad. The followig table shows the editig actios that are possible oce you display a previously executed commad o the commad lie. Eter 2000 This activates the Subscriber scree. It is ow ready for you to eter iformatio about the user with extesio Or, to chage the record you just added: 1. Press the UP ARROW key to retrieve the previous commad. 2. Press the LEFT ARROW key several times to move to the begiig of the lie. 3. Press F1 (Clear Fld) to remove the add keyword. 4. Eter chage i its place. Usig AUDIX Admiistratio Screes to Eter Data Some AUDIX Admiistratio screes have data etry fields ito which you eter values, such as user extesio umbers, aoucemet IDs, or class of service ames. Other fields are display-oly fields. You caot eter data ito display-oly fields. From the last field o a scree, this moves the cursor to the first field o the same scree. Moves the cursor to the previous field o the curret scree i a right-to-left, bottom-to-top order. From the first field o a scree, this moves the cursor to the last field o the same scree. Deletes the last character etered ito the field ad moves the cursor backward oe positio. May delete all etries o a scree. Use DELETE oly if specifically metioed o the scree, such as Press Delete to Cacel. Moves the cursor to the begiig of the curret field. Moves the cursor to the ed of the curret field. Clears the curret field. Displays a meu listig the valid values, if ay, for a field. You ca select from the meu etries to populate that field. Data Etry Whe a scree is activated, the cursor is positioed at the begiig of the first data-etry field. The data etry fields have limits to the umber of characters you ca eter, depedig o the ature of the field. Geerally, the legth of the field correspods to the maximum umber of characters allowed for that field.to obtai this iformatio, positio the cursor i a Gettig Started - 17 Issue 1

18 AUDIX Admiistratio Screes data etry field ad press F6 (Choices). If you type ivalid iformatio ito a field, the system displays a help message cotaiig iformatio to help clarify the required iput. Some data etry fields are optioal, while others require you to eter a value before savig the iformatio to the system database. If you try to save iformatio etered ito a scree without eterig all of the required iformatio, the system displays a help message otig the missig iformatio. You ca reuse a scree oce iformatio etered o it has bee saved. Combie the editig ad cursor movemet operatios to place the cursor back at the first data etry field as described i the example o Example of Commad Lie History ad Editig. Whe you type a character ito the first positio of a field, the previous cotets of the field are cleared ad the ew characters are etered ito it. Field Help ad Selectig Valid Values from the Choices Scree Whe the cursor is i a field, pressig the F6 (Choices) fuctio key displays iformatio about the field ad lists the valid values that ca be etered i that field, if ay. If there are several valid values, you ca select oe from the list usig TAB, SHIFT+TAB, ad the arrow keys, or by typig the iitial character of a value. Gettig Started - 18 Issue 1

20 Remote Admiistratio Remote Admiistratio The AUDIX system supports both local access ad remote access for system admiistratio. Local access for admiistratio is supported usig the DEFINITY ONE system s dedicated moitor ad keyboard. Remote access for admiistratio is supported through a termial ad modem coected to the first serial port o the CPU or to the multi-port serial card. Remote access capabilities are a stadard AUDIX feature. CAUTION: The AUDIX system allows more tha oe perso to perform the same fuctio o the same scree, for example, addig a user to the AUDIX system database. However, if two people happe to be editig the same user s profile, oly the chages made by the perso who saves the scree last are writte to the system database. The other perso s chages are lost. Cofiguratios ad remote access sequeces vary widely, depedig o the site. You may eed to refer to the documetatio for your termial or termial emulator to fid the remote access procedure that applies to your particular situatio. Depedig o your termial emulator, you might have trouble correctly viewig some of the AUDIX screes. Try makig chages from the termial emulator s Cotrols or Optios meu. I particular, try turig word wrap or wraparoud off. With some remote admiistratio setups, the fuctio keys are ioperable i the AUDIX admiistratio screes. Therefore it may be ecessary to use keystrokes as a substitute for oscree fuctio keys. The Fuctio Key Substitutes table lists the keystrokes that you use i place of the fuctio keys. CAUTION: If you have ot eabled a system priter, issuig a prit commad will fill up the prit queue with prit jobs that caot be processed. This ca result i a slowdow of other system processes. To prit a set of AUDIX screes or a multiple-page report: 1. Start at the AUDIX Commad Prompt Scree. 2. At the eter commad: prompt, type oe of the followig: prit display qualifier prit list qualifier where qualifier is the report or scree ame you wat to prit. For example, if you type prit display system-parameters features, the system priter prits a copy of all four features pages.
