8 Defence, Safety and Security Innovation for a more secure sense of life It is crucial for prosperity and welfare that society is safe and has a sense of security. Security is becoming increasingly more complex, both nationally and internationally, in the physical and digital world, real and perceived. TNO therefore focuses on defence, safety and security, working closely with defence organisations, the police, emergency services and industry. We support these organisations through both technological and behavioural innovations, to enable them to act more effectively.

13 Security and Protection The security of buildings, sites, infrastructure and mass transport is important both from a criminal and a terrorist perspective. TNO contributes by innovative concepts and systems to new measures that are feasible ánd affordable. TNO also brings special techniques to the investigation by the authorities of crimes committed. Cyber security and the prevention of cyber crime are now a special focus area.

TNO supports the public and private sectors to chart risks and generate solutions for our critical infrastructures. Community resilience is a recent focus area.
