This guide is for you to reference if you are new at P4 Community Care or when you re having problems with your computer. Try the process that best fits your problem before calling your Help Desk. My Computer Won t Start, What Do I Do? 1. Desktops: If you press the power button and nothing happens, follow these steps: Make sure the power cord to the computer is plugged into the wall and into the back of the computer If the computer is plugged in properly, try plugging the computer into a different socket or power strip Listen to the computer when you press the power button, if it sounds like the computer is starting up, but nothing is being displayed on the monitor, check all connections and make sure they re secure. If your computer is still dead, call your Help Desk 2. Laptops: If you press the power button and nothing happens, follow these steps: Make sure the battery is secure in the laptop If the battery is properly secured and is still not powering on, attach the power adapter and make sure it s properly secured. If the computer is starting up but is not displaying anything on the monitor, contact Help Desk. How to I Logon to My Computer from Office 3. From P4HM Office Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete Username: Enter Username that is provided to you (Example: AJoyner) Password: Your Password If you are new user at P4 Community Care, do following: Enter Username:.\User, Password, Password16. How to I Logon to My Computer from Home or Remote Location Step-1 Turn on your computer When prompted, Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete Click on Switch User Step-2 Another Icon will appear on bottom right Click on the Icon with two computers If the Icon does not appear, call your Help Desk Step-4 Another box for VPN will appear Type: vpn.p4hm.org and click Connect USmibn Inc. My Password is Not Working or I Forgot My Password For Computer or Domain or Outlook Password Call our Help Desk (919-460-0224 Option 1) to reset your password For CMIS or Informatics Password Call Venetta Johnson to reset your password (336-235-0930 Ext 320) For ChartMaxx Password Call ChartMaxx Help Desk to reset your password I am Prompted for Username/ Password When I Trying To Install Printer or Any Software Call Help Desk and we will install printer/ software for you Make sure that you are connected to Internet before you call Help Desk If you having trouble connecting to internet, please call us anyway. I Can t Connect to the Internet, What Do I Do? If you re having problems connecting to the internet, follow these steps: First, check to see if you re connected to the internet. The picture to the right shows that a connection is established with an Ethernet cable and has internet access The picture to the right shows that a connection is established with a Wi-Fi and has internet access If no Wi-Fi connection is established, click the thumbnail with the red marker around it. Once you click on this thumbnail, a list of networks will appear, choose the network you want to connect to and enter the network password (if you re in the office, you want to connect to P4care). If you are working from home or a remote location, click on the appropriate network to connect. You will need to provide the Security Code to connect to the Wi- Fi (wireless network). If you re using your Verizon Wireless access card, make sure that you re connected through the VZAccess manager. If you are still unable to connect to the internet, contact Help Desk. USmibn Inc. How do I Connect to Remote Desktop Server? If you are at P4Care office in Greensboro, Reidsville, or Asheboro you don t need to connect to the Remote Desktop Server (Terminal Server). You should log on to P4HM domain with your Username and Password. During logon when you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, you should see P4HM below Username and Password, which means you are part of P4HM domain. If you don t see P4HM below Username and Password, contact your Help Desk and we will join your computer to P4HM domain If you are working from home or a remote location and you re having problems connecting to the Remote Desktop Server, or you are first time connection to Remote Desktop Server (Terminal Server) follow these steps: Connecting to Remote Desktop Server: When you are working from home or a remote location, you will need to connect to P4HM Remote Desktop Server (P4HM Terminal Server) to access your Home Folder (H Drive), Shared Folder (S Drive), and other Shared resources on P4HM network. This process includes following two steps 1. Step-1 Connect to P4 VPN: Click on P4 VPN icon on your desktop Or click Cisco icon in your taskbar as show in the picture on the right When Cisco Client AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client windows box appears. Type vpn.p4hm.org in the left box Click Connects, a new window will appear Group: Anyconnect Username: Your Username Password: Your Password, click OK Another window will pop up. Press yes. When you are connected to P4 VPN, a window temporarily popups in task bar, VPN Connected to vpn.p4hm.org. USmibn Inc. Revision 2014-02-01 5

To double check if the VPN connection is established, click on the arrow in your taskbar and you will see a lock on the Cisco Mobility Client icon as show on the right ---- 2. Step-2 Connect to Remote Desktop Server Click on P4 Remote Desktop Connection shortcut on your desktop. If there s no shortcut, you can access this program from Start > All Programs > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection If your Remote Desktop Connection is already configured, you will see Computer: remote.p4hm.org and Username: P4HM\ Your Username, click on Connect. Otherwise proceed to next step. Type remote.p4hm.org if it is missing in computer box USmibn Inc. Revision 2014-02-01 6

If you username is incorrect, click on Use another account and type your username in the format as on the right side. (Example: P4HM\AJoyner) Type your password If you want the computer to remember your password, check the box Remember my credentials. Click OK After you click OK another window will pop up. Following Instruction in blue are optional and are not necessary To customize the Remote Desktop Connect, Click on options and window on the right will appear. Fill in the details Computer: remote.p4hm.org Username: P4HM\Username Check Allow me to save my credentials. Click the Save As button and save the shortcut on your desktop P4 RDS. This will be the only time you will have to do this. After this, all you will have to do in the future is enter your password. Click on Connect Another window will pop up and prompt you for your password (this is the same password as your outlook password). If you want windows to remember your password Check Remember my credentials That s it, you re connect to the Remote Desktop Server If P4 VPN is not connected or your Username / Password is incorrect, you will not be able to connect to the Remote Desktop Server USmibn Inc. How Do I Use My Home Printer On The Remote Desktop Server? If you want to use your home printer on the Remote Desktop Server, follow these steps: First, log on to the Remote Desktop Server Go to Start > Control Panel On top right, click on View by and select Small Icons Click Devices and Printer Once you have the printer window open, you should check to see if your printer is on the list. If your printer is not in the list, your printer is probably not compatible with the Remote Desktop Server What If My Printer Is Not Compatible With The Terminal Server? If your printer is not compatible with the terminal server, you will have to copy and paste the files that you want print from the terminal server, onto your desktop. Right click the file that you want to print on the terminal server, select copy. Minimize the terminal server; right click on your desktop, select paste. The file will now be on your computers desktop. If you want to select multiple files, you can hold down Ctrl and select the files you want to print and repeat the previous step You can also store all the files in a folder and copy and paste the entire folder to your desktop when you re ready to print. How to Add a Network Printer at P4 Office On you click Go to Start > Control Panel On top right, click on View by and select Small Icons Click Devices and Printer If you don t see your printer listed under Printer and Faxes, click on Add a Printer on top left. In next window highlight the printer you want to add, click next and follow the prompts. How Do I Check My P4CC Email from Internet Browser? If you re not in the office and need to check your mail, follow these steps: Open your Internet browser Go to https://mail.p4care.org/owa Outlook Web Apps will come up When prompted, enter your username and password Here you can check your mail, and manage your account settings How Can I Change my Password? After you are logged into your computer, Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete Click Change a Password Enter your existing password Enter your new password (12 characters or more, and at least one uppercase, one digit and one special character) Enter Confirm password USmibn Inc.
