1 Kindergarten Spreadsheet Setup Note: The Spreadsheet must be set up each year. From the TA start screen, click Setup Options button. Setup Options button 1. Click Preferences.

2 Kindergarten Spreadsheet Set Up My Options tab 1. Mark Calculation Method is Total Points. 2. No boxes are checked on the left. 3. Check Delete assessments at Year End. Other Settings : Check top 2 only. 4. Allow Shared Access to Student Progress check Will allow other teachers (EC) access to view marks of shared students. 5. Rounding Marks is checked. (state mandated- DO NOT uncheck) 6. Count Blank Marks as Zeros unchecked This is only for Numeric gradebooks.

Prep Classes Report Cycles is set by default. 12. Prep Category type in Academic. Check the Default? box. 13. Prep assignment types click Add. Select Assessment. Click OK. 14. Click on the Save icon and Exit. Select Classes button Add button Save icon Exit Your Gradebook is now ready to use!

5 ADDING ASSESSMENTS From the TA start screen, click on Course to select class. Click on Spreadsheet. Course / Class Spreadsheet button

7 ADDING ASSESSMENTS continued 15. Refer to the Assessment / Comment Sheet for your grade level. (p. 8) 16. Type the Name of the Assessment. Press TAB to get Short Name. 17. Score Type is Alpha. Enter the Score Max. (M or S) 18. Category is Academic. Assessment Type is Assessment. 19. Adjust any Dates. Assign Date and Due Date must be a student day. 20. Check box beside Post to Parent Assistant. Use to change date. 21. Enter any Parent Tips. 22. Click Save icon and Exit if you are NOT entering marks at this time.

Note: Emergent is considered on grade level. A mark of M is above grade level. MATH 2001SA Score Max M Teachers enter Math assessment name of their choosing based on the Common Core components. Note: Enhancements are not set up here because you use Mark Entry to enter the quarterly Mark for the Report Card. Only Courses with Assessments receive Marks on the Progress Reports. All Courses receive Marks on the Report Card.

9 Marking Legend Academic Courses- ELA, Math Non-Academic Courses - Conduct, Art, Music, Elementary Technology, PE Academic Conduct Enhancements M Mastery S Satisfactory S Satisfactory N Needs Improvement N Needs Improvement U Unsatisfactory U Unsatisfactory ENTERING MARKS in the Spreadsheet Marks may be entered several ways in the spreadsheet. 1. You may directly enter Marks on the TA Gradebook screen. Use the down arrow to enter Marks for an Assessment. Use Enter to enter Marks (across) for a student. Note: When using the Enter key to enter Marks for a student, beware that the cursor always moves to the first Assessment for the next student. 2. To use the Copy Down feature you must go to the Enter/ Mark Comments screen. Click the Enter/ Mark Comments button. See Tip below for alternate way. Double click in any cell in the Marks column to quickly get to the Enter / Mark Comments screen for the selected Assessment.

10 ENTERING MARKS in the Spreadsheet (Use #1 or #2) 1. Marks may be entered on the TA Gradebook screen. Save. Exit. 2. Marks may be entered by clicking the Enter Mark/Comments button. Select the Assessment from the drop down. Record the most common Mark for the first student in the list. Click Copy First Mark Down. Adjust Marks for students not receiving that Mark. Save and Exit. Copy First Mark Down button Comments may also be entered and copied down.

11 ISS NC WISE Kindergarten Spreadsheet Reference Card Adding Assessments / Entering Marks 1. Log on with USER NAME and PASSWORD 2. To input new Assessments: Select class by clicking on class name Click on Spreadsheet button verify class Select Reporting Term Category and Assessment Types - ALL Click the Add Assessment button 3. Add New Assessment dialog box refer to Assessment/Comment Sheet for your grade level (p.8) Type in Name of assessment press TAB key to get Short name Score Type select Alpha Enter Score Max (M or S) Adjust Dates and check box to Post to Parent Assist. Enter Parent Tips. 4. To enter Marks for this Assessment: Enter Marks on the TA Gradebook screen. Save. Exit. OR double-click in any cell in the Marks column for the Assessment to get to the Enter Mark / Comment screen. OR click the Enter Mark/Comment button. Select the Assessment. Enter Marks or enter most common and Copy First Mark Down. Adjust Marks. Enter Comment (if any). You may Copy First Comment Down. Adjust Comment for any individual student. Save and Exit 5. 12 Printing Information Can t Print from NCWISE Printing problems may be due to Pop Up Blockers or downloaded toolbars such as the ones from Yahoo and Google. If your password does not start with an alpha, you will not be able to print. You must also have a Due Date that falls within the Reporting Term. Disabling Pop Up Blockers Before printing any Report, always check the Pop Up Blocker settings. From Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Pop-Up Blocker, Pop-Up Blocker Settings. Type the address esis.ncwise.org into the text box, click Add, then Close. Disabling Pop Up Blockers while in NCWISE If you click on the Printer icon and nothing happens, more than likely you need to disable Pop Up Blockers. Minimize all NCWISE windows. From the Desktop, open another Internet Explorer. Click on Tools, Pop-Up Blocker, Pop-Up Blocker Settings. Type the address esis.ncwise.org into the text box, click Add, then Close. Then Close this browser. Maximize the NCWISE window and continue. Removing Toolbars If Cleanslate is enabled, have your school Tech Contact place a work order. To remove Yahoo toolbar, open Internet Explorer, click the down arrow beside the pencil icon. Click Uninstall and follow prompts. For Google and most other toolbars, click Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > Remove the prohibited toolbar. Changing Your Password On the TAM start screen, click Setup Options. Click Preferences. On the upper right side of the screen click Edit User Profile. Enter your old password (current password.) Enter your new password. (start with Alpha, minimum 8 characters, has to have at least 2 numbers) Verify your new password by retyping it. Leave the email field blank. Click Save. You will receive a message stating "Password has been successfully changed." Click OK. (or you may get Do you want to save changes? Click Yes.) Exit. Click OK to close the Setup Options screen. Next time you logon NC WISE, you will use your new password. If the new password is not accepted, look for an error message in the gray area on the bottom left corner of your screen. Passwords can be reused after 7 cycles.

13 Kindergarten Progress Report Note: Assignments must have Due Dates in order to appear on the printed Progress Report. From the TA screen, click Reports. Reports Click on Progress Report.

14 Kindergarten Progress Report continued 1. Select Classes using the gray Multiple button. Click OK after Adding ELA, Math, and Conduct. 2. Select Report Cycle from. 3. Category and Assessment Types - All. 4. Leaving Select Student blank selects ALL students. (You may also select individual students using the ADD feature from the screen that appears when you click Multiple. You may also REMOVE students.) Click OK. 5. Dates do not have to be entered here because the Report Cycle is selected. 6. Check Include Signature? To print a parent signature line. 7. (Optional) Message to Parent (See Tip. ) 8. Click on the Printer icon. Remember- whatever you type in the Message to Parent goes on every Progress Report for the selected students.

15 Kindergarten Progress Report continued 9. Progress Report will open as a pdf in a separate window. (through Adobe Acrobat Reader) 10. Click the Save a copy icon to save the file in a secure location on your computer or in your folder on the school server. 11. Click the Printer icon to print Progress Reports. 12. Close the browser. You return to the Progress Report screen. 13. Click on the door to Exit. Teachers print the Kindergarten Progress Report.

16 ISS NC WISE Kindergarten Spreadsheet Guidebook Reference Card Progress Report From the TA start screen, select Reports. Click on Progress Report. Select Classes. Click the Multiple button. Move selected Classes (ELA, Math, and Conduct) from the left side to the right side. Click OK. Select the Report Cycle. Category and Assessment Types ALL. Leaving Select Student blank selects all students or Click Multiple to select or remove individual students. Check Include signature? To print a parent signature line. (optional) Message to Parent same message goes on every Progress Report for the selected students. Click on Printer icon. Adobe Reader opens for you to examine. Make sure you have plenty of paper in your printer. Save a copy in a secure location on your computer or in your teacher folder on your school server. See your school Tech Contact for instructions on how to do this at your school. Click on the Printer icon in the Adobe window to print. Close the Adobe window when printing is complete. EXIT. Teachers print the Kindergarten Progress Report.
