I. About Cisdem AppCrypt Cisdem AppCrypt is an app designed specifically for password-protecting your apps from unauthorized attempts and blocking distracting websites to improve your productivity. You can also schedule the specific time to disable the app protecting functionality and view photos of unsuccessful attempts to protected apps. 3
II. Activating this Application Cisdem AppCrypt is available on our official website, you can download it at http://www.cisdem.com/download/cisdem-appcrypt.dmg. Once you have downloaded it to your computer, please double-click the DMG file to initiate the installation. In the Finder window that appears, you re able to move the app icon to Applications folder. Activating Cisdem AppCrypt is a fairly easy task. You just need to launch the app first, tap on the Help on the menu bar, and select the Register Cisdem AppCrypt from the list. Once the registration window shows on the screen, you have to copy-n-paste your registration code into the Keycode box, and then click Register button to confirm everything. 4
III. Application Operating I. Get Started The first time the app is running in your Mac, you are required to set a password, which is the key to access AppCrypt and those locked apps. Please do not forget the password, as there is no way to retrieve it. You must read the WARNING and then check the checkbox: I have read and I understand this warning before submitting the password. The Launch at System Startup enables AppCrypt starts the protection even if someone restarted your Mac. 5
We have added four system applications to App list. To ensure AppCrypt works more safely and effectively, it s not recommend to remove them. For instance, others can force to quit the AppCrypt in the Activity Monitor. II. Add & Remove Applications After password has been set, system will bring you to the main interface where apps are added. Click Add App at the left side of tool bar, and then select those needed apps from the window that appears. Noted that only those file with extension name. App can be added into. You can also drag-n-drop apps to the left side list. Likewise, to remove an app, you only need to highlight it and click Remove App. III. Block Websites i. Enable/Disable WebBlocker To enable/disable WebBlocker, click the key icon in Mac Status menu bar (upper right of Mac screen), and then click Enable/ WebBlocker in submenu. 6
ii. Add&Remove Websites Click Tool button on AppCrypt, choose Preferences from submenu, and then click Websites. 1. Blacklist The websites added to Blacklist are all blocked. To add websites to blacklist, click the + button, and then enter domain names, for example, facebook.com. To remove websites, select them and then click the button. 2. Whitelist The websites added to whitelist are allowed to access (block everything else). To add websites to whitelist, click the + button, and then enter domain names, for example, facebook.com. To remove websites, select them and then click the button. IV. Preferences i. General a. Show status on Menu bar 7
The key icon in Mac Status menu bar represents AppCrypt. It is the quick access to open AppCrypt and Enable/disable WebBlocker. If you unselect Show status on Menu bar, the key icon will disappear. And the shortcuts will be the only way to open main window and turn WebBlocker on/off. Click the shortcut box to record a shortcut. b. Launch at system startup Activating it enables you to see the icon on menu bar every time you start your Mac so you can minor and protect your apps efficiently. c. Capture photo with failed attempt After you ticked it, your mac will receive a command to take a picture once someone attempts to break in with an incorrect password. And those records are listed in the main interface including the app name, failed reason and photo of the person who tried to the app. To delete the records, highlight them and press the Delete key. d. Quit all protected apps when Mac goes to sleep When Mac goes to sleep, AppCrypt will quit all apps you have added to protect list. Note: Apps, such as Word, that ask for saving changes before you quit them can t be closed. ii. Password 8
If you want to reset the password, please follow below steps. 1. Enter the correct password. 2. Enter the new password 3. Confirm the new password 4. Click submit Don t forget the password, you can make a note of it. iii. Schedule The Schedule option enables you to schedule specific times to unlock all protected apps. There are four situations: 1. Unlocked on weekend E.g. you have checked the Saturday and Sunday and set the time from 3 AM to 5 PM, AppCrypt will unlock the protected app at 3 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday. 2. Unlocked on workday E.g. you have checked the workday (Monday to Friday) and set the time from 3 AM to 5 PM, AppCrypt will unlock the protected app at 3 AM to 5 PM on Workday. 9
3. Unlocked on specific days E.g. you have checked the Monday, Wednesday and Friday and set the time from 3 AM to 5 PM, AppCrypt will unlock the protected app at 3 AM to 5 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. 4. Unlocked on current day. E.g. today is Tuesday, March 1, 2016. The time is 3 PM. You haven t selected any days, but you have set the time from 1 PM to 2 PM, which is earlier than the current time, the schedule will be invalid. 10
