DT TPG STATUS Trigger meeting, September 19 2006 INFN Bologna; INFN Padova; CIEMAT Madrid Outline: most updates on Sector Collector system MTCC phase 1 lessons resume Open issues (Good) news from tests SC production update Installation plans 1

DT TPG at MTCC: Trigger & DAQ setup (phase 1) Detector Detector YB+1: Sector 10 MB1 MB2 MB3 YB+2: Sector 10 MB1 MB2 MB3 YB+2: Sector 11 MB1 MB2 MB3 YB+1: Sector 10 MB1 MB2 MB3 MB4L MB4R YB+2: Sector 10 MB1 MB2 MB3 MB4L MB4R YB+2: Sector 11 MB1 MB2 MB3 MB4 2 x LVDS cables / chamber Tower SC Crate YB+1: 1 SC board (sector 10) SC crate YB+2: 2 SC boards (sectors 10, 11) L1A (copper) 2 x LVDS cables / chamber Tower SC Crate YB+1: 1 ROS board (sector 10) SC crate YB+2: 2 ROS boards (sectors 10, 11) 3 (6) Opto fibers / sector Green barrack DTTF: 3 PHTF 1 WS 1 BS BS Trigger into LTC/CTC L1A L1A (fiber) Trigger Readout 1 DDU 1 Opto fiber / sector Green barrack Local (VME) or Global (S-link) DAQ 2

MTCC phase 1 resume Trigger set up with prototype Sector Collector boards Apart from understood/patched issues (see next slide), the system was very stable Software tools are still quite experts-only but main tasks (synchronization, test, monitoring) are implemented and functional Temperatures, optical power, link status, synchronization always monitored Trigger data spied and injected into DAQ in all runs DT Trigger configuration was flexible and updated upon request Minicrates configuration ( default, pointing...) Chamber masking at DTTF inputs Sector selection by Wedge Sorter Trigger generated by Barrel Sorter 3

Upgrades and issues in MTCC phase 1 Upgrades during phase 1: SC-ROS conflict: SC layout bug found and corrected Current, temperature, laser power monitoring Faulty MB1 opto link substituted with unused MB4 link Issues that were still there after phase 1: Opto-TX MB1 link frequent unlocks Opto to DTTF Low yeld in LVDS receivers production LVDS from MCs + cooling, + cabling, +... 4

(Good) news from the lab We were finally able to reproduce the MB1 link problem in the test bench We found and we fixed the source(s) of the problem: Uncorrect line termination that has an effect on the link locking ONLY on MB1 and ThetaMB3 (not used in MTCC phase 1) links Only 2 links out of 6 show this problem (correlation with GOL-to-Laser trace length) We tried several values of the termination and we could recover all unlocking links in our lab Test of the patched Opto-TX boards in MTCC setup within this week LVDS-RX yield problems only partially understood (with boundary scan etc) (but we have ~ 75 % of fully functional boards it is a production issue... But we want to improve it) 5

Plans/Firmware/Software for MTCC phase 2 We want to study the effects of magnetic field on DT chambers (specifically on MB1 stations) Runs dedicated to DTs during 1st week of MTCC phase 2 DTs will act as a service for the rest of phase 2 Firmwares in phase 2: Opto-RX firmware update (monitoring of link status etc.) No updates in LVDS-RX and Motherboard firmwares Firmwares are almost final; we still have to... Implement more test features in LVDS-RX Complete and test Eta Opto-RX (note, it is the same board as for PHTF! ) Software plans We still want to to finalize our software tools and build automatic procedures for production test benches before porting some tools 6
