About emix emix, electronic medical information exchange, is an easy and secure way to quickly distribute medical images and documents between healthcare institutions and physicians - anytime, anywhere. Selects the exam and other desired documents to send from a worklist of electronically stored files. 2. Uploads the package to emix. 3. Selects a recipient from a list of authorized users. By using user authorization and authentication, emix preserves privacy and confidentiality, and strengthens compliance with HIPAA provisions. The Recipient: 1. 1 Installing the emix Gateway How to download the emix Client/Gateway application on desired stations. Static IP address Sending emix stations must have a static or reserved IP address so that a DICOM source can have a fixed location to send images to. Static IP is NOT required for stations intending to only receive packages through emix. Administrative rights On all stations: The station must be logged in with administrative rights to install the emix Gateway software. Downloading the emix Gateway application 1. Login to emix through the Login tab on the emix website, www.emix.com. 2. Enter your email and password. Click Login. 3. Click the Administration link. 4. Click Stations. 5. Click Download. 6. Save the installer to your computer. 7. Browse to the folder containing the emix Gateway installer: emix.exe. 8. Double-click the emix.exe file to start the install. 9. Follow the prompts to install the emix Gateway. 10. When the install is complete, click Finish. A shortcut to the emix Client/Gateway displays on your desktop after successful install. 2 Configuring the emix Gateway How to configure the emix Gateway to send to or receive from your PACS system. Initially setting up the emix Gateway On the initial log in, the emix Gateway Setup instructions display. Select the features that you want to configure: Modifying setup information If you want to reconfigure or set up a new SCP or SCU, you can return to the emix Gateway Setup window: From the File menu > select Options. Configuring the emix Gateway to send packages Sending workflow SCP: Send images and reports to others How to configure the emix Gateway to receive studies from your PACS or DICOM modality to send through the emix Cloud. 1. The PACS sends an exam to emix Gateway (SCP-Service Class Provider). 2. The user packages and addresses the images and reports. 3. The emix Gateway sends the package through your firewall to the emix Cloud. Configuring the emix Gateway to send 1. Select the check box for SCP: Send Images and Reports to Others and click Next. 2. Configure the SCP settings as required. In the Description field, type the location or purpose of this DICOM Storage Service Class Provider (SCP). For example, emix Gateway for Ultrasound Department. Note the IP address of this station. The three connection parameters are needed later when configuring DICOM sources to send images to this emix Gateway: AE Title, IP Address, and port number. 3. Click Next. 4. Click Apply Now to save the changes. 5. Restart your emix Gateway for the settings to take effect. When you log in again under this user ID, the emix DICOM Store SCP launches automatically. When SCP is running correctly, a green SCP icon displays in the system tray. Configuring a DICOM source to send to the emix Gateway 1. Set up each DICOM source (such as PACS or a modality) that will send images to the emix Gateway. 2. In the setup, include information for the emix SCP: AE Title (default EMIX STORE SCP). Static IP address of the hosting machine. Port number (default 104). 3. Repeat for all emix stations. Each broadcasting emix station must be set up as a separate DICOM Send destination in your PACS or modality. The complete configuration steps for a DICOM Source are vendor-specific and are beyond the scope of this document. Please contact the appropriate vendor for more information. Configuring emix Gateway to receive packages SCU: DICOM Study Send Destination How to configure the emix Gateway to send to your PACS system; for studies received through or studies imported into the emix Gateway. Receiving workflow The Recipient receives an automated email notification. The images can be viewed online, downloaded, and/or pushed to the PACS. Configuring the emix Gateway to receive 1. 2. Enter DICOM information for your PACS system. 3. Click DICOM Ping to check connectivity. 4. Click Next. 5. Click Apply Now to save the changes. 6. Automated processes emix can be setup to both auto-upload images from a DICOM source (PACS, modality), and auto-download directly to the emix Gateway or to a DICOM destination (PACS) without any user involvement with the emix Gateway software. 3 Updating the emix Gateway How to update the emix Gateway software when a newer version is available 1. Login to emix through the Login tab on the emix website, www.emix.com. 2. 4 Adding New Users Creating new emix Users on your account. 1. Login to emix through the Login tab on the emix website, www.emix.com. 2. Click the Administration button. 3. Click the Users button. 4. Click New. A window displays for User Details. 5. Enter information for the user. 6. Enter information for the Role options: Standard User: Can view package-related information only for those packages they have sent or received. Power User: Can view package-related information for all users within the organization. Administrator: Can view package-related information for all users within their organization. Administrators can also perform administrative tasks, such as creating and editing new user accounts, and configuring stations within their organization. 7.
