EPSON PRODUCT SUPPORT BULLETIN Date: 12/16/2003 PSB No.: PSB.2003.12.002 Reference: N/A Originator: JA Authorization: Affected Product(s): EPSON Gemini Professional Portrait Printing System Subject: Netpassport Login Issue When Browsing Images in EPPLayout This bulletin provides instructions on how to resolve Netpassport login issue encountered when browsing images in EPPLayout. Specific Windows settings on the client PC will be modified to correct this issue. Problem Description: The error is usually displayed as a login window for Netpassport. It will ask you to login every time this window is displayed. You may cancel out of the window but it will return after an undetermined time period. The extreme case occurs when you cannot send a print to the Gemini because the login window keeps reappearing immediately after canceling. The following procedures will help to resolve this issue: Disable Windows Messenger (Windows XP only) 1. Click on Start, Run and type "gpedit.msc". This will open the Group Policy Window. 2. Navigate to the following folder: Local Computer Policy/ Computer Configuration/ Administrative Templates/ Windows Components/ Windows Messenger. 3. Double Click Windows Messenger. 4. Double Click on Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run 5. Click on Enable 6. Close the window and restart the computer. Note: This will disable the chat feature of Windows. This is similar to AOL Instant Messenger. Map the network drive The Netpassport issue is also encountered when using EPPLayout to browse a shared folder directly on the network. To minimize this issue, perform the following steps to map the selected network drive: 1. Right mouse click the Start button and select Explore. 2. Select the Tools menu and click on Map Network Drive. 3. Map a selected drive for the shared folder you want to use. If required use the Browse button to locate the shared folder.
