Target cell -set The -set for the target cell consists of 7 temperature sensors which are attached to distinct locations of the target cell (as shown on the photo above with a GEn-cell with a small pumping chamber -at the W&M lab where we use only 6 s). Every temperature sensor (or = resistance temperature detector) has 2 leads. Each lead is connected to 2 wires. The wires of one lead are labeled either as red or golden depending on to which one of the leads they are soldered. The 1.5m wires of the -set are connected with a CPC-plug to a 6m extension cable which uses a D-sub(miniature) plug as connection to the roughly 30m long wires toward the read-out electronic. The 30m wires are still labeled in two former s: At some point 14 single s with only 2 wires each (instead of 4 like here) have been used. Each of those 14 -cables consists of one red wire and one black wire combined by a grey insulation which is labeled from 1 to 15 (without the number 13). The slots of the read-out electronic refer to these labels, e.g. 10, B2, R4 means the black wire of 10 goes into the 2nd slot and the red wire goes into the 4th slot. Another old system combines two of those grey wires and labels the couples from 1 to 7 (but this order is different than the here used -labels from A to G or the Epics-system from 1 to 7). The D-sub is a substitute for an Amphe-Lite that was used in the year 2000 and is not being produced anymore. To achieve a complete map all pin assignments (also the former ones) are given in the following table: Epics label 6 A CPC plug slot or 1 2 6m extension cable* from 1 to 15** 4, B4, R2 Black (orange) Yellow (black) 3, from 1 to 7 2 D-sub Former Amphe-Lite 1 F 20 G 1 of 6 3/26/06 2:04 PM
