Microsoft Outlook Installation for Windows GroupWise Users NOTE: This document applies to Windows users only. When ITS begins the Outlook /Exchange migration for your department, the following steps need to occur at your computer: Uninstall GroupWise Install/Upgrade Microsoft Office 2013 Setup your Outlook 2013 account This document contains the step-by-step procedures needed to perform the removal of GroupWise, the installation/upgrade of Microsoft Office 2013, and the setup of your Outlook 2013 account. NOTE: These steps must be performed in the order that they appear in this document. Uninstall GroupWise 1. To begin the uninstall process, click the Windows Start icon in the lower left corner of your screen. 2. Select Control Panel from the popup menu. 3. In the Control Panel window, under the Programs heading, select Uninstall a Program. 04/2014
4. When the list of programs has loaded, click once on GroupWise to highlight the program. 5. Click Uninstall to begin uninstalling GroupWise. 5 4 6. In the Programs and Features prompt window, click Yes. 7. During the GroupWise uninstall the following window will appear. When the uninstall has completed, GroupWise will disappear from the list of programs in the Uninstall and Change Programs window. 2
It may be necessary to manually remove the GroupWise profile from the Windows Mail application. 1. Click the Control Panel Home link. 2. Change the view of the Control Panel from Category to Large Icons. 3. Click the Mail icon to open the Windows Mail Application. 3
4. If the Novell GroupWise profile is still present in the Mail Application, it will appear in the profile list. 5. a. Click the Novell GroupWise name to highlight it. b. Click the Remove button. 5a 5b 6. Click Yes in the prompt window. 7. The profile will disappear from the list. If there are any other profiles, they should also be removed. 8. Click Close. 9. Restart your computer. 4
Install Microsoft Office 2013 1. If you have Microsoft Office 2010 running on your computer, you will need to Uninstall it before installing Microsoft Office 2013. To verify what version of Office you are running, click the Start button click on All Programs scroll down to the Microsoft Office folder the version you are running will be displayed by each Office application in the Microsoft Office folder. PLEASE NOTE: If Microsoft Office 2013 is installed, go to page 8 to enable Outlook. 2. Return to the Control Panel and open Uninstall a Program. Verify View by: is set to Category. 3. a. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 from the list. b. Click Uninstall. 4. Click Yes. 2 3b 3a 5
5. When the Uninstalling process is complete, click the Close button. 6. A prompt appears for you to reboot. Click Yes. 7. Once your computer has restarted, go to PC drive (H:\instlsrc\MSOff13-32-ProPlus). Double-click setup.exe to begin the Microsoft Office 2013 installation. 6
8. Select the box next to I accept the terms of this agreement and click Continue. 9. Click Install Now. The Installation Progress window appears. 10. When installation is complete, click Close to exit the installer window. 11. You will be prompted to reboot your computer to ensure all Windows Office 2013 components are installed properly. Click Yes to reboot. NOTE: Go to page 10 to set up Microsoft Outlook. 7
Enabling Outlook If you already have Microsoft Office 2013 on your computer prior to the migration, follow the steps below to enable Outlook. 1. Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen and select Control Panel. 2. In the Control Panel window, under the Programs heading, select Uninstall a Program. 3. a. Select Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 from the list of programs. b. Click Change at the top of the window. 3b 3a 8
4. In the Change your installation of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 window, make sure the radio button is selected next to Add or Remove Features. 5. Click Continue. 6. a. Click the down arrow beside Microsoft Outlook b. Select Run from My Computer in the dropdown menu. 7. Click Continue. 4 6a 6b 5 7 8. Wait for Office to configure Outlook. 9. You now have Microsoft Outlook enabled. Click Close. 10. Continue with this document to set up your Outlook email. 9
Setup Microsoft Outlook 2013 1. To begin, go to the Windows Start icon in the bottom left of your screen and select Outlook 2013 from the Microsoft Office 2013 folder. 2. In the Welcome Window, click Next. 3. In the Add an Email Account window, select Yes, and click Next. 10
4. In the Auto Account Setup window, enter your netid@msstate.edu email address and your NetPassword. Click Next. 5. When the Congratulations! message appears, you have successfully completed the Outlook 2013 account set up. Click Finish. 11
6. Outlook 2013 opens and is fully functional. Any new email will be delivered to your Outlook inbox and once your department/division migration is complete, which may take several hours to a few days, your migrated email messages, folders, contacts, and calendars will appear. 7. If the following window appears the second time you log into Outlook, select Use another account. 8. Enter your netid@msstate.edu email address and your NetPassword. Click the box next to Remember my credentials. 9. Click OK. For more information about using Outlook 2013, refer to the Quick Start Guide for Outlook 2013.
