Open the welcome to Nextgen patient portal email sent from the practice and click on the nextgen patient portal link. If for any reason you did not receive an e-mail from your practice, go to www.nextmd.com 2. The e-mail link will direct you to the terms and conditions of using NextMD. a. If you went to www.nextmd.com, you would click on Enroll Now. This will then take you to the terms and conditions page. 3. Once you accept the terms and conditions- you will be prompted to enter your token number and e-mail address and then click submit Note- The email address must be the same e-mail address you gave the practice. 4. Create your user name and password by filling out the required red fields. User names and passwords are case sensitive and must be between six and 20 characters. Passwords must contain at least one number. 5. Setup Your Login Security Authorization- You will be prompted to answer your login security question. Pick a question from the drop-down list and then create an answer. 6. Password Recovery Credentials- Create a question and answer that will aid you if you were to ever forget your password, then click Submit to complete the enrollment process. NextMD Patient Portal Features 1. Contents Pane- enables you to access all the pages in the patient portal website. Using the tabs and links will help you navigate through the portal. Home - By default this will display when you log onto the patient portal. It displays a link for new items in the Inbox, Contact information alerts, appointment reminders, etc.. Inbox will show all messages and documents that were received by your practice. Sent Items allows you to view messages, documents, etc. that were sent to your practice. My Account- allows you to manage\update your patient portal account information. Along with changing your rights that care managers have to your patient portal. 2. Navigation Pane-Enables you to access all the pages on the website. Home- Enables you to access alerts and appointment reminders for each practice you are in enrolled in. Mail- Enables you to view all messages and items received from and sent to practices. Tasks- Enables you to compose messages, request appointments, renew medications, request personal health records and research medical topics. My Account- Enables you to manage your patient portal account information. 3. Locked Account- You cannot access your patient portal account If you fail to log in to your patient portal account with four continuous failed attempts (with an incorrect password), the system locks your account. However, the system will automatically unlock your account after 20 minuetes. If the practice locks your account, you will receive an email stating that you need to contact your physician s practice to unlock the account. 4. Resetting Your Password If you need to reset your password, access the patient portal website ( www.nextmd.com), click on Need help with your user name and password? link. The Forgot your login information? page will display. I. If you know your user name and answer to the forgot password question, select the I have my user name option. II. Enter your user name, and click Next (the reset your credentials page will display). III. Enter your answer to the forgot password question, and click Submit (a message will display notifying you that an email has been sent with a link to reset your password.) 5. Recovering Your User Name- If you need to reset your user name, access the patient portal website ( www.nextmd.com), and click on Need help with your user name and password? link. Click Next (a message will display notifying you that an email has been sent with a link to reset your password.) Managing Your Account: 1. Managing User Grants- If you allowed a care manager access to your patient portal during the enrollment process; they automatically have FULL rights to your patient portal. However, you are able to limit access by clicking on the My Account tab, then click on Manage User Grants link. The manage user grants page will display a list of people associated with your account.
