Butte County Fair 2016---Instructions for Online Entries What YOU Need to Know BEFORE Getting Started Online Entries-Beginning in 2016, all Butte County Fair entries for still exhibits must be made online. (Note: unlike livestock, still exhibits are exhibits that do not move.) You will need to use a computer to submit online entries. If you don t have your own computer or use a computer perhaps a friend or family member may be willing to assist you. There are computers available at county libraries, and in the Butte County Fair office computers and assistance is available during office hours. Fair Guides for all departments are online and available for your use. The Butte County Fair no longer prints and distributes Fair Guides. Instead, whenever you need to review or print information, go online and simply access the guide needed before reviewing or printing the specific pages needed. The important information for each department is included in the Fair Guide for that specific department. Entry deadline, entry fee, premiums, entries accepted this year, division, class, rules and regulations plus so much more is included. Read carefully because some items may not be in alphabetical order. Can t locate the specific information you need in the.pdf file? Use the Find feature by holding down the <Ctrl> key and then hit the F key. In the search box, type in the word or words you wish to find in the document and then click the <Enter> key. You will need an email address. Free email addresses are available through Yahoo www.mail.yahoo.com & Google Gmail www.mail.google.com. Entry fees are paid online using a debit or credit card. If you don t have a debit or credit card, contact the Butte County Fair Office by calling 846-3626 to obtain more information. Butte County Fair Office is located at 199 East Hazel Street, Gridley, CA 95948. Normal office hours are Monday-Friday 8am to noon and 1pm to 5pm. Note: The office is closed from noon to 1pm for lunch. The telephone number is 530-846-3626. Members of the office staff are available to answer your questions and to assist with online order entry. It is recommended that you place your entries well before the entry deadlines to avoid any unexpected and/or last minute problems These instructions illustrate the steps required to place an online entry. The examples of department, division and class are examples only. When placing your entries it is important that you use the data for the exhibits you want to enter in the Butte County Fair. It is your responsibility to verify the information as you go along and it must be accurate before your proceed to checkout to pay. P a g e 1

Obtain the Still Exhibit Department Guide If you haven t already obtained the Still Exhibit Department Guide, now is the time to do so. For these instructions Department B - Adult Floriculture Guide will be used and it isn t visible yet from the list of Resources, but there are more choices available when you look further down the page. Using the beige scroll bar located on the right side of the screen, scroll down to view additional Department Guides available. You will need to locate the correct Still Exhibit Department Guide for your area of interest. (Tip: To scroll down, click on the box and drag the box down until you see the Department Guide you need) If you haven t already reviewed the Still Exhibit Department Guide, you will want to study it before placing your entries online. All of the details for your still exhibit are included.. P a g e 3

After scrolling down, the guide needed for this example is now visible. Do you see the guide your need? To access the guide in the Resources section, simply click on the name shown to the right of this symbol:. Note: The Department Guide is saved in.pdf file format and should open when you have followed the instructions displayed above. If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader software to read the.pdf file go to www.google.com and in the search box type: adobe reader software to read.pdf files to learn more about installing the free software needed to access and open the.pdf guide for viewing OR, another option is to visit the Butte County Fair office for assistance. For this example, Department B Guide is shown below. It contains all of the information needed for an exhibitor to enter Floriculture exhibits. You will of course want to locate the Department Guide for the department of your choice. Included are the rules which apply to that specific department including, but not limited to, online entry deadlines; receiving dates and times; judging and release dates and times, and all of the other very important information you need to know to successfully enter and compete in the fair still exhibits. There are a total of nine pages in the Department B-Adult Floriculture Guide P a g e 4

To view the rest of the page or additional pages, use the scroll bar on the right side of the screen. To locate the Rose exhibit information, it was necessary to scroll down multiple pages before reaching the section for Roses. To enter a Red Tea Rose, the division and class will be necessary. Division 235 Roses-Hybrid Tea Class 4 -- Red This information is very important! You are responsible for entering the correct information and editing incorrect information prior to submitting your payment. To avoid placing incorrect entries verify carefully and edit information as you go along. P a g e 5

To save time you will want to print this page and then create a list of entries/exhibits you plan to place before you begin entering the information online. Note: *The Pen Fee or Entry Type are used for livestock entries and not still exhibits.* NAME: Department Division Class Division Description Class Description Entry Fee Pen Fee * Entry Type * P a g e 6

When you have finished your list of entries to place you are ready to begin placing your entries/exhibits online Remember, if you decide to add additional exhibits later, you may as long as you place the entries before the online entry deadline. If you are not already on the Still Exhibits webpage, go to: http://www.buttecountyfair.org/exhibits To access the Blue Ribbon Fair Online To get started, click on the link above located directly below the white NOTICE bar. Click on the following link: Click here to access our online entries website. P a g e 7

To Create a New Account or Log In to an Existing 2016 Account Read all information displayed on the webpage shown below. Exhibitor Accounts do not carry over from previous years or shows. Each exhibitor should create only one account and use that one account for every exhibit entered that year. If you have not created an account this year, you must select Create Account. OR If you have already created your Exhibitor Account for 2016, you must select Log In to access your account. P a g e 8

Enter the information required below. * Denotes required fields. When finished click on the Save Account Information button at the bottom of the page. P a g e 9

Next, this Account Message will appear. The Terms of Services must be accepted by the exhibitor before they will be allowed to continue. To accept, click in front of the word Accept. P a g e 10

Check your email for a message (like the one shown below) from the Butte County Fair confirming your registration. Please save this email as it contains your user name and password. This information is needed whenever you access your account. All empty boxes indicate areas where your personal information will appear. The buttons for navigation are: Log Out, Home, Edit Account, Entries, Review Entries, Items/Checkout, and History. If you are in the still in the Blue Ribbon system, you may already be logged in. If you see your name appearing after the Welcome in the upper left, you should not need to log in. P a g e 11

OR Click on the Home button and then click on the Log In button. Either way, once you are in the system, you can click on the Entries Button shown at the top of the screen. Use the scroll bar on the right side to locate additional choices. (shown below) P a g e 12

Once you have located the correct department, click on it to select and to expand the List of Available Entry Selections Scroll down for more choices. P a g e 13

When you locate the division you wish to enter, click on the + (on the left) to display the classes available. Once you have located the correct class in the list, verify the description of the division and class then click on the Add button on the line for the correct department, division and class. P a g e 14 Quick Practice for You For this example, which is the correct line for: Schedule B, Red Hybrid Tea Rose? Division Class Circle the correct Add button in the diagram shown to the left.

Verify that you have entered the correct department, division and class. Remember, it is your responsibility to verify the information is correct before you complete the order entry process, checkout and pay for your entries. If the information is not correct FOR YOUR entry, click on Cancel & return to Entries button. This will allow you to return to the previous screen. When the information is correct, add your entry description or specify details (if required) before clicking on the Save Entry button. An entry has been added message window will appear for a couple of seconds before closing. Your selection screen will not change. P a g e 15

Since the entry added did not show on this screen, for this example, click on the Review Entries button displayed at the top of the page. Now that it has been confirmed that the last entry was included, click on the Entries button to continue. P a g e 16

Select the Department from the List of Available Entry Selections. Use the scroll bar to the right to view additional Department Guides. Continue to select your division and class then add. Verify the information for accuracy as you go along. For this example another Hybrid Tea Rose, this one apricot color is to be added. The entry needed is for Department B, Division 235 and Class 0002 Do you see the Add box? P a g e 17

If the rules require that you specify information, use the Enter Description Here box. Click on Review Entries button to confirm that the entries have been added correctly or if you are adding a larger number of entries you may want to wait until all of your entries have been added. Remember, it is your responsibility to review the pending entries for accuracy. At this point you may use the blue Edit button or the red Remove button shown above. P a g e 18

After you have verified that your order is accurate and complete you must review the fair rules before you may move on. To access the Fair Rules, click on the green Review Fair Rules button. Since the display of the rules begins at the bottom, you will need to use the scroll bar to scroll up to the beginning of the rules to be reviewed. Once you have read the rules, select the Print button if you wish to print a copy To save and/or click on the OK button to affirm that you have read and understood the rules and regulations for participation. Select Print Preview Receipt button to review your entries. Verify that all information is correct. Note: warning--entries have not yet been submitted for entry in the fair. Your personal information will appear in any area showing an empty box in these instructions. Once you have verified the accuracy of your order for the last time, click on the Checkout button to proceed to checkout. P a g e 20

When entering your debit or credit card number, DO NOT enter spaces or dashes. Your billing information MUST match the billing information for your debit or credit card. To complete checkout, click on the Pay button. If the information is not correct or you wish to finish this order at a later time, click on the Cancel button. P a g e 21

Now that you have completed the entry process and have submitted payment, you will receive several confirmation messages and an opportunity to print your invoice. P a g e 22

You may print the Invoice by clicking on the Print button. You will also receive a confirmation email in your inbox. P a g e 24

Are you finished with the Blue Ribbon program for now? If so, make sure you Log Out! Click on the Log Out button shown below. A message will appear: Are you sure you want to log out? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you need to access the Blue Ribbon Program, go to www.buttecountyfair.com/exhibits and then click on Click here to access our online entries website. Click on Log In to access the website. Your user name, email address and password are documented in the confirmation email sent to you when you created your new account. P a g e 26

Once you have successfully logged in to your account, you will be able to use the menu choices (blue buttons). The buttons for navigation are: Log Out, Home, Edit Account, Entries, Review Entries, Items/Checkout, and History. Thank you for entering your exhibits in the Butte County Fair. P a g e 27
