LifeBook P7000 Notebook BIOS LifeBook P Series Notebook BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup Utility is a program that sets up the operatig eviromet for your otebook. Your BIOS is set at the factory for ormal operatig coditios, therefore there is o eed to set or chage the BIOS eviromet to operate your otebook. The BIOS Setup Utility cofigures: Device cotrol feature parameters, such as chagig I/O addresses ad boot devices. System Data Security feature parameters, such as passwords. Eterig the BIOS Setup Utility To eter the BIOS Setup Utility do the followig: 1. Tur o or restart your otebook. 2. Press the [F2] key oce the Fujitsu logo appears o the scree. This will ope the mai meu of the BIOS Setup Utility with the curret settigs displayed. 3. Press the arrow keys to scroll through the other setup meus to review or alter the curret settigs. Navigatig through the Setup Utility The BIOS setup utility cosists of six meus: Mai, Advaced, Security, Boot, Ifo ad Exit. This documet explais each meu ad all submeus ad setup items. The followig procedures allow you to avigate the setup utility meus: 4. To activate a submeu press [Eter]. 5. To retur to a meu from a submeu, press [Esc]. 6. To go to Exit meu from aother meu, press [Esc]. 7. Pressig the [F9] key resets all items i the BIOS to the default values. 8. Pressig the [F10] key saves the curret cofiguratio ad exits the BIOS Setup Utility. You will be asked to verify this selectio before it is executed. 9. Pressig the [F1] key gives you a geeral help scree. Eterig the Setup Utility After a Cofiguratio Chage or System Failure If there has bee a chage i system cofiguratio that does ot match the parameter settigs stored i your BIOS memory, or there is a failure i the system, the system beeps ad/or displays a error message after the Power O Self Test (POST). If the failure is ot severe, it will give you the opportuity to modify the settigs of the setup utility, as described i the followig steps: 1. Whe you tur o or restart the computer there is a beep ad/or the followig message appears o the scree: Error message - please ru SETUP program Press <F1> key to cotiue, <F2> to ru SETUP 2. If a error message is displayed o the scree, ad you wat to cotiue with the boot process ad start the operatig system ayway, press the [F1] key. 1. To select a meu, use the cursor keys: [ ], [ ]. 2. To select a field withi a meu or a submeu, use the cursor keys: [ ], [ ]. 2 Selectig a field causes a help message about that field to be displayed o the right-had side of the scree. Pressig [Eter] with the highlight o a selectio that is ot a submeu or auto selectio will cause a list of all optios for that item to be displayed. Pressig the Eter key agai will select the highlighted choice. 3. To select the differet values for each field, press the [Spacebar] or [+] to chage to the ext higher selectio ad [F5] or [-] to go to the ext lower selectio. If your settigs require it, you may be asked for a password before the operatig system will be loaded. 3. If a error message is displayed o the scree, ad you wat to eter the setup utility, press the [F2] key. 4. Whe the setup utility starts with a fault preset, the system displays the followig message: Warig! Error message [Cotiue] 5. Press ay key to eter the setup utility. The system will the display the Mai Meu with curret parameters values.

Mai Meu MAIN MENU - SETTING STANDARD SYSTEM PARAMETERS The Mai Meu allows you to set or view the curret system parameters. Follow the istructios for Navigatig through the Setup Utility to make ay chages. The followig tables show the ames of the meu fields for the Mai meu ad its submeus, all of the optios for each field, the default settigs ad a descriptio of the field s fuctio ad ay special iformatio eeded to help uderstad the field s use. Date is i a moth/day/year umeric format with 2 digits each for moth ad day ad 4 digits for year. (MM/DD/YYYY) for example: 03/20/1998. You may chage each segmet of the date separately. Laguage: Eglish (US) Japaese (JP) [Eglish (US)] The default settig differs betwee the US/Europea ad the Japaese model. Selects the display laguage for the BIOS. 4

Depedig o the drive type, iformatio such as cyliders, heads ad sectors may also be displayed. Security Meu SECURITY MENU - SETTING THE SECURITY FEATURES The Security meu allows you to set up the data security features of your otebook to fit your operatig eeds ad to view the curret data security cofiguratio. Follow the istructios for Navigatig Through the Setup Utility to make ay chages. The followig tables show the ames of the meu fields for the Security meu ad its submeus, all the optios for each field, the default settigs ad a descriptio of the field's fuctio ad ay special iformatio eeded to help uderstad the field's use. The default coditio is o passwords required ad o write protectio. If you set a password, write it dow ad keep it i a safe place. If you forget the password you will have to cotact your support represetative to regai access to your secured fuctios ad data. If you make a error whe re-eterig the password a [Warig] will be displayed o the scree. To try agai, press the Eter key ad the retype the password. Press the Esc key to abort the password settig process. Eterig a password icorrectly three times i a row will cause the keyboard ad mouse to be locked out ad the warig [System Disabled] to be displayed. If this happes, restart the computer by turig off ad o the power with the power switch ad use the correct password o reboot. If the Password o Resume is Eabled ad the Password o Boot is Disabled you will ot have to type your password upo resumig the system from the Susped or Save-to-Disk modes. Power Maagemet Security will work oly if Password o Boot is eabled.
