How to connect the IC-409 to the bizhub C451/C550/C650 Series and C353/C253 Note: A reminder that there are two versions of the IC-409 Fiery Controller. One is for the C451/C550/C650 Series and the other IC-409 Fiery Controller is for the C353 and C253. The item description is similar but the item numbers are different. Be sure to connect the correct IC-409 to the correct bizhub OP MFP. Description IC-409 for C353/C253 IC-409 for C650/C550/C451 Item Number A074WY1 A074WY0 1. In order to connect the respective IC-409 to the bizhub C451/C550/C650 or bizhub C353/C253, you will require two (2) IP Addresses, one for the Fiery and one for the machine. By having two IP Addresses, you will be able to use the Emperon in conjunction with the Fiery controller. Function Printing Scanning PC-Faxing C450 + Fiery C352/C300 + Fiery Only printing to Fiery was possible The User Box Function not available when configured with the Fiery. PC-Faxing not available when configured with the Fiery. C451/C550/C650 + Fiery C353/C253 + Fiery You can print to Emperon as well as Fiery The User Box Function can be used with the Fiery attached. PC-Faxing is possible with the Fiery attached. You can now print to Emperon as well as Fiery using the separate IP Addresses. The User Box function is now available even when the Fiery is attached. PC-Faxing is possible using the PC-Fax driver. There are 2 ways to connect the respective Fiery Image Controller with the C451/C550/C650 and the bizhub 353/C253. By connecting via Method A, you will have all functionalities of the Emperon Print System and the Fiery controller except for the Fiery Remote Scan 5 function. Fiery Remote Scan 5 cannot be used due to the fact that the crossover cable is not used, but the Konica Minolta Emperon TWAIN driver can be used instead for TWAIN scanning. By connecting via Method B, you will be able to use Fiery Remote Scan 5, but you will lose 1000 Base-T, AppleTalk, IPX/SPX, IPv6, IPSec as well as SMB Browsing.

Connection Method A uses 2 LAN cables one for the Fiery and one for the machine. Each cable can be connected directly to the customer s network, or you can have a HUB/Switch in between, and connect the two cables to the HUB/Switch and then have another cable to connect the HUB/Switch to the customer s network. This method will work in the following 4 scenarios.

Connection Method B uses 1 LAN cable for the Fiery, and between the Fiery and the machine the crossover cable that comes with the Fiery will be used. Connection Method A 1) Go to Service Mode and select System 2. 2) Select Image Controller Setting and select Controller 1. 3) Touch End and select Exit. 4) You can choose to connect the Fiery and the machine each with separate LAN (or Patch) cables ([RJ45]) connecting directly to the customer s network port, or you can choose to use the HUB/Switch and connect the Fiery and the machine to the HUB/Switch and then connect the HUB/Switch to the customer s network (one network port) using another LAN cable (in this case, total 3 LAN cables). Please make sure that the LAN cable for the Fiery is plugged into Port 1 (LAN) shown on the left.
5) Press Utility/Counter and go to Administrator Settings. Go to Network Settings, then IP Settings to the IP Address of the machine. 6) Go to Utility/Counter and select Option 5. Controller Details to go to Network Setup to set the IP Address of the Fiery. 7) Use the machine s IP Address to access PageScope Web Connection (the configuration shown is for illustration purposes only; the configuration will vary based on bizhub model and the accessories installed) 8) 9) Use the Fiery s IP Address to access the Fiery s Web Tools. B. Connection Method B 1) Go to Service Mode and select System 2.
2) Select Image Controller Setting and select Controller 1. 3) Touch End and select Exit. 4) Connect the Fiery and the machine via Crossover Cable and also connect via Ether Cable as shown below. 5) Press Utility/Counter, go to Administrator Settings and select Network Settings. 6) Select TCP/IP Settings. 7) Select IP Settings. 8) Select Auto Input. 9) Save your selection and reboot the machine. 10) Make sure that you always turn on the Fiery and then the machine.
11) When the machine warms-up, you will see the Power on the controller message. Wait approximately 3-4 minutes before the classic I for the Fiery will be displayed on the screen. 12) If you are configuring the Fiery for the first time, the Power on the controller message will not go away. In this case, go to Utility/Counter and select Option 5. Controller Details to configure the Fiery. 13) Go the Fiery s Network Setup by entering the password. 14) Go to IPV4 settings. 15) If the Fiery s IP Address is a static IP Address, then set the Enable Auto IP Configuration: No. Then, enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway manually. In this case, Fiery will also automatically create the machine s IP Address by adding one (+1) to the Fiery s IP Address (Example: If Fiery s IP Address is 10.10.10.1, machine s IP Address will be 10.10.10.2). (Scenario 5 of 1- B) 16) If you wish to automatically obtain the Fiery s IP Address from DHCP server, then set Enable IP Configuration: Yes. In this case, Fiery will also automatically obtain the IP Address for the machine from DHCP server. (Scenario 2 of 1-B) 17) The Fiery will ask if you would like to save your settings, select Yes/OK, and the Fiery will reboot automatically. 18) After the Fiery is rebooted and the classic I icon appears, select the icon, and print the Fiery s config page. The machine s IP Address will appear on page 2/2 of the config page. 19) User this IP Address to access PageScope Web Connection.
20) Use the Fiery s IP Address to access the Fiery s Web Page. 3. Important Notice 1) Even when connecting via Connection Method A, the Fiery will still try to generate an IP Address for the machine, and it will be listed in page 2/2 of Fiery config page. This IP Address is separate from the actual IP Address registered at the machine panel. This is a known issue and we will try to resolve it in our next firmware release, so that in case Connection Method A is used, the Fiery will not generate a separate IP Address for the machine. 2) Connection method B requires scan to email and SMB to be enabled again on the main body under network settings.
