Open the printer. Install the cleaning roller (1). Remove the protective wrap from the cleaning roller (2) and install the cleaning roller in the printer (3). Load ribbon on the ribbon cartridge. Load the ribbon cartridge in the printer. Close the printer cover. Open the input hopper and load cards. Close the input hopper. Plug the printer power supply into the printer. Connect the power cable to the power supply and to an outlet. Wait for the Ready light on the LCD panel to turn green. Page 2

a b Insert the CP Driver CD-ROM in the PC s drive. Click Install the Printer after the window opens. Connect the USB data cable to the PC when prompted. Follow the prompts to install the CP Driver and Info Central. Printing Preferences (Windows 2000 and XP) or Properties (Windows 98 and Me) opens at the end of installation. The Printer Toolbox opens when Printing Preferences or Properties opens. Click Print Sample Card on the Printer Toolbox. Compare your card with the factory card. Congratulations, you have installed the printer! Complete the installation report and install your ID software now. Page 4

Connect the printer to the network using an Ethernet cable. Use the printer LCD panel to set the IP address mode DHCP or Static IP. Set the IP address if needed. The printer restarts if you changed settings. Retrieve the IP address and record it. IP Address: Set the Data Format. The printer restarts. Set up for your card design choose CP Driver data format (5a) or Open Card data format (5b). Insert the CP Driver CD-ROM. Choose Direct Network during installation. Set the printer IP Address in the driver s Properties: Ports:Configure or Properties:Details:Port Settings dialog box. Click Print Sample Card on the Printer Toolbox. CP Driver data format: Open Card data format: See the Data Formatting Guide for Open Card commands and card layout menus. (The Open Card option is required.) To verify installation, send a sample file from the computer to the printer using the file2prn utility. Find both on the Open Card CD-ROM. Compare your card with the factory card. Connect the printer and wireless print server using a USB cable. See your organization s wireless security policy when setting up a wireless connection. Connect a wireless adapter to a computer and set the adapter to the values for the wireless print server. See the print server documentation for the values to use. Configure the wireless print server for your network. Obtain the settings, including the print server IP address or network name, from your network personnel IP Address or network name: Set the Data Format on the printer. The printer restarts. Set up for your card design choose CP Driver data format (5a) or Open Card data format (5b). Insert the CP Driver CD-ROM. Choose Direct Network during installation. Set the print server IP address or network name in the driver s Properties: Ports: Configure or Properties: Details:Port Settings dialog box.
