Consulting Library Network Install Before You Install or Update Your Software One of the most important things to remember before you start updating OR reinstalling any computer software, is to turn off any active applications. This includes such items as schedulers, managers, email, browsers and antivirus applications. To close the applications: Windows 2000/XP Press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys once simultaneously to bring up the Windows Task Manager. Select an item and click End Task. This will turn off the application until you restart Windows. Installation Instructionseqcu1-u06a9-26879-82cfe-4b61b-0b270-050bf-59858 Using Windows Explorer, create an empty shared folder on you network named PPC LIB that all your users can access and have rights to. Insert the CD in the network drive and click Start/Run. From the Run Dialog Box, click Browse, select your CD drive and click Setup.exe. To install the Reference Library, click the Reference Library button. Note: The Business Valuation button is for the Business Valuation Companion product. To install the Guide to Business Valuations, click the Reference Library button. You will receive a message reminding you to close down any applications or virus scanners. Make sure those applications are closed. Then click OK to continue. 2
The Welcome to PPC Library Setup dialog will appear. Click the Requirements button to connect to www.ppcnet.com and view the minimum Technical Requirements. Click Next to continue with the install. If this is a first time installation, the Network Administrator radio button. If this is an update/reinstall, select the Network Administrator Update/Reinstall. Click Advanced to access advanced installation options. Otherwise, click Next. 3
Advanced options: Content Only: Select this option to access the latest content on this CD. No applications will be installed. NOTE: This option is not available on first time installs. Install Workpaper Builder: Select this option to install PPC s Workpaper Builder Excel Add-in. Deselect to not install Workpaper Builder. Click the Help button to access detailed help information regarding these options. Once the Advanced options have been chosen, click OK to return to the Installation Type dialog screen. 4
The Software License Agreement will be displayed. Read the agreement and click Yes to accept it and continue with the installation. Type or Browse for the destination location for PPC Library files. On screen tips are available. Click Next to continue. 5
Select or Browse for the shared configuration path. This directory is used to store information and settings that allow you to access the content you have subscribed to on each PPC Library CD. The default shared configuration path is recommended. Click Next to continue. Select or Browse for the shared client s path. The default-shared client s path is recommended. Click Next to continue. 6
Select the CD-ROM path users will require to access the PPC Content from the CD. Click Next to continue. The Start Copying Files dialog will appear. Use this dialog to verify your installation choices. If you would like to alter one of the installation choices, click the Back button to go backward in the install process. If you are satisfied with your choices, click Next to proceed. The setup files are copied to your computer. 7
At the PPC License Entry Dialog Box, you will need to enter your Master Password and, if necessary, the Product Access Code. Refer to the Passwords and Product Access Codes section below to find out where your password or product access codes are located. Click OK. You can also access your Master Password and Product Access codes from our website by clicking the following link: PPC My Account Page. You will receive a message that the network installation is complete. Individual users must go to the network location and run Setup.exe to install the product on their workstations.
