Intent of the ITIL Master Qualification To offer a venue for highly experienced ITIL Experts to achieve an officially recognized qualification for superior ITIL knowledge, applied theory and Master level experience. The ITIL Master Qualification validates the capability of the candidate to apply the principles, methods and techniques from ITIL in the workplace.

ITIL Master Process Stages
Mandatory Stages to achieve the ITIL Master Qualification (6-24 months) 1. Registration with EXIN Application Completion 2. Submission of a Proposal outlining: a. the real life situation to be addressed, and b. the Elements of ITIL to be applied to the situation 3. Preparation and submission of a Work Package for assessment 4. Attendance at interview to support the Work Package assessment Each stage (except the interview) provides one resubmission opportunity
Prerequisites for the ITIL Master Qualification Have achieved the ITIL Expert Certificate in IT Service Management (check by EXIN Candidate Support) Have worked in IT service management for at least five years in leadership, managerial, or higher/senior management advisory roles, covering all life cycle stages (check by EXIN Program Management)

The Proposal
Proposal Basics Purpose: Convince the Assessors that the planned assignment(s) which will be (were) undertaken and documented in the Work Package meet ALL of the requirements The proposal must: meet all of the Scope and Element Requirements Be a brief, concise description of what the Work Package will consist of Be submitted on the Proposal Template
The Work Package
Work Package Basics Purpose: to provide the Assessors with a body of documented evidence which verifies the capability and skill of the candidate in adopting, adapting and implementing ITIL in real-world situations. The Work Package must: Be prepared using the Outline Template Be supported by referee statements from each organization profiled to affirm candidate claims meet all of the Scope and Element Requirements
Work Package Common Requirements Skill Area Assessing candidates demonstrable ability to 1 Plan & Analyse (PA).analyse, evaluate, justify, and plan the application 2 Adapt, Apply and Implement (AAI) 3 Organisation Culture and Communication (OCC) 4 Organisation Value and Investment (OVI) 5 Issue and Risk Management (IRM)..use ITIL practices and adapt them in the assignment implementation.manage, influence and improve attitudes, behaviour and culture.achieve sustainable benefit for the organisation(s), quantify ROI and VOI and measure outcomes.identify constraints, risks & issues and management of them
Assessment Process Proposal and Work Package
Assessment Process Each candidate is assigned 2 assessors Lead and Second - subject to declared conflicts Assessors use a standard set of Marking Guidelines for all candidates Assessors mark independently then agree the final mark If acceptable meets the requirements candidate moves onto next stage If unacceptable candidate has one free opportunity to update and resubmit, per stage

Work Package Assessment Assessed by competence areas; PA, AAI, etc. Every requirement assessed on a scale:- 0 - Did not meet requirement 1 - Partially met requirement 2 - Met requirement in some but not all assignments 3 - Fully met requirement 4 - Exceeded the requirement
The Interview
The Interview Purpose: To provide the candidate an opportunity to further explain their Work Package and assignment(s); to provide Assessors an opportunity to probe specific areas within the Work Package; and, to verify that the Work Package is the candidate s own work. The Interview is: The final assessment stage in the ITIL Master Qualification Conducted Virtually, via Video Conference Attended by the candidate and 2 Assessors (except independent observer ad hoc)
Format of the Interview Initiated by the Lead Assessor: Introductions and explanation of format Discussion of experience based on the Work Package and CV/Resume Questions from the Assessors Questions from Candidates Interview close Duration is approximately 60-75 minutes
General Advice for Candidates Be sure to use the Candidate Guidelines, Requirements and Scope and templates provided Be sure you have applied in real life all the areas you plan to cover - being an ITIL Expert in one or two areas is not enough! Preparing a good work package is time and labour intensive prepare for this and plan adequately!
