These release notes describe enhancements, installation procedures, and component and licensing requirements for RSFieldbus software. This software is used for the configuration and maintenance of Fieldbus Foundation devices.

2 RSFieldbus Software Important User Information Solid-state equipment has operational characteristics differing from those of electromechanical equipment. WARNING: RSFieldbus software version 2.05 is compatible with Rockwell Automation linking devices, catalog numbers 1757-FFLD, firmware revision 2.x, and 1757-FFLDC, firmware revision 2.x. You cannot have multiple computers running RSFieldbus software or the HSE/OPC Server on the same network at the same time.

Before You Begin RSFieldbus Software 3 Before installing RSFieldbus software, you should be familiar with the following procedures: Navigating and running applications in a Microsoft Windows environment Experience in loading software applications on a personal computer See Table 2 on page 4 for more considerations. The following tables include recommendations for system installation and components for RSFieldbus software, version 2.05. Table 1 - Installation Considerations If You have a previous version of RSFieldbus software on your computer. You have a version of Rockwell Automation software s BOOTP server installed other than 2.3.2. You have Rockwell Automation software applications open. Then Back up all DDs used in your RSFieldbus projects. This can be done by using the Pack Project function. Refer to the FOUNDATION Fieldbus System User Manual, publication 1757-UM012, for more information. Uninstall the previous version of RSFieldbus software. Uninstall versions other than 2.3.2 to prevent confusion with the version provided in this installation. See Important on page 10. Close all open applications.

See page 5 for procedures.

Additional Software RSFieldbus Software 5 RSLinx Classic Lite software is required when using RSFieldbus software with a 1757-FFLDC linking device. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the user documentation included with RSFieldbus software. See http://www.adobe.com for a free download of Acrobat Reader. FFLDC ControlNet Setup Tool in Windows 7 Operating System The FFLDC ControlNet Setup Tool is not compatible with the Microsoft Windows 7 operating environment. There are two options for setting up this tool to execute properly in Windows 7. Option 1 Install and run RSFieldbus software and its associated utilities, including the FFLDC ControlNet Setup Tool, in Windows XP mode. For more information, see http://www.windows.microsoft.com. Option 2 There are two examples to show how to edit the CIP path of the 1757-FFLDC linking device so the device can communicate on the ControlNet network via the RSFieldbus software. Use a text editor to manually edit or add the [CIP path] section at the end of the file IDShell HSE.ini, which can be found in the following directory: \Program Files (x86)\rockwell Software\RSFieldbus\Oleservers.

After going online in RSFieldbus software, it may take several minutes for the manually added 1757-FFLDC linking device to appear in the HSE Live List.

10 RSFieldbus Software Install the Software Do these steps to install your RSFieldbus software. IMPORTANT Before installing RSFieldbus software, make sure your computer meets the minimum hardware and software requirements listed on page 4. 1. Double-click the setup.exe file found in your RSFieldbus software installation files. If installing the software on the Windows 7 operating system, 64-bit Professional, close the install application if it is open. Proceed to step 2 on page 11. If installation begins, go to step 5 on page 11. IMPORTANT During the RSFieldbus software installation, the following software applications also are installed if they are not already installed on your computer. Please be sure to install all of these software applications that are integral to using RSFieldbus software: FFLDC ControlNet Setup Tool Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 BOOTP-DHCP Server 2.3.2 Standalone If the RSFieldbus software installation is interrupted after these software applications are installed because minimum operating system requirements are not met, you do not need to install these applications again; you will not be prompted to do so. If you choose to stop the RSFieldbus software installation, or the installation is interrupted, the above software applications can be removed by using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. If you remove any of these applications, you will be prompted to install them again during installation of RSFieldbus software.

RSFieldbus Software 11 2. From the Start menu, choose Run. 3. Browse to setup.exe or type the following path: D:(or your CD-ROM drive letter)\setup.exe IMPORTANT For the Windows 7 operating system, 64-bit Professional, type setup.exe /VOS=64BIT 4. Click OK to launch RSFieldbus software installation. 5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installations of these additional applications if they re not already installed on your computer: FFLDC ControlNet Setup Tool Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 FactoryTalk Activation Manager 6. At the RSFieldbus - InstallShield Wizard dialog box, click Next. 7. Carefully read the license agreement. 8. Perform one of these actions: If you agree with the terms of the license, click 'I accept the terms in the license agreement', and then click Next. If you do not agree with the terms of the license, click Cancel. The set-up program stops and you will not be able to use the software. Review the License Agreement, select I accept the terms, and click Next. 9. Enter a User Name and Organization and click Next. 10. Click Next to install the files to C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software, or click Change to choose a different location. 11. Click Install to begin installation. 12. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation of BOOTP-DHCP Server 2.3.2 Standalone Utility (if not already installed) and the RSFieldbus software.

12 RSFieldbus Software Activate the Licenses RSFieldbus software is shipped with a demo license that lets you configure a limited amount of function blocks. To use the software in a non-demo mode, you must activate your licenses. Do these steps to activate the licenses. 1. From the Start menu, choose Programs/Rockwell Software/FactoryTalk Activation/FactoryTalk Activation Tool. The FactoryTalk Activation Manager appears. 2. Click Get New Activations. 3. If you are using a dongle, attach it to the USB port of your computer. FactoryTalk Activation requires a specific USB dongle available from Rockwell Automation. The part number is 9509-USBDONG. 4. In the Activation Wizard, select I have Internet access from this computer and click Enter Activation Information. 5. Type the serial number, product key, and host ID information for each product that you are activating a license. 6. Click Add. 7. Validate the activation. 8. Download the activation. IMPORTANT With this release of catalog numbers 9308-RSFB64ENE, 9308-RSFB256ENE, and 9308-RSFB1024ENE, upgrades from 64 function blocks to larger licenses will be provided through the Rockwell Automation Step-forward program. See the activation supplement, publication FTA-QS002C, for more information.

Install the EDS File for the Linking Device RSFieldbus Software 13 For information about installing the EDS file for the linking devices, refer to their respective installation instructions. Enhancements The table describes enhancements for RSFieldbus software, version 2.05. Table 5 - Enhancements with Version 2.05 Software Version Enhancement 2.05 Copy-and-paste functionality is available for function blocks in the H1 window and for control modules in the Process Cell window. Function blocks and function block parameter values can be uploaded. Capability level is available on the New Device dialog box. This version is compatible with the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and the Foundation Fieldbus H1 ITK 5.x version Device Description files. Additionally, the RSFieldbus software activation is provided by using the Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Activation license. Corrected Anomalies The table lists the corrected anomalies by the software version that contains the corrections. Table 6 - Corrected Anomalies with Version 2.05 Software Version Description 2.05 CORRECTED: If more than one device, that has been pre-configured with a temporary address, is added to the physical network at one time, the RSFieldbus software may not recognize them. 14 RSFieldbus Software Table 6 - Corrected Anomalies with Version 2.05 Software Version Description 2.05 CORRECTED: In projects with multiple 1757-FFLDC linking devices, the linking device s icon in the Live List may show a device instead of a bridge. Lgx00079775 CORRECTED: RSFieldbus software may crash if the software is closed while attempting to go online. Lgx00078821 CORRECTED: If the Live List is left open when the project goes from online to offline, some of the information in the Live List may not be refreshed when going back online. Lgx00081937 CORRECTED: You may receive an Assign Tag failure message even though the tag was assigned successfully. Lgx00081875 CORRECTED: Devices in the project that are not associated to a physical device can not be deleted online. Lgx00085851 CORRECTED: When online, if multiple monitoring windows are opened (for example, strategy or online characterization), any but the initial window opened may show inaccurate or no values. Lgx00082776 CORRECTED: You cannot use a remote HSE server when you are using a 1757-FFLDC linking device. Lgx00063925 CORRECTED: Attempting an incremental download after deleting function block links may cause a fieldbus link deletion failure during download error. CC_00002803 CORRECTED: When changing a device s device class to Backup LAS (Link Master), a schedule download failure may occur. A possible solution is to redownload the entire configuration. Known Anomalies The following are known anomalies in RSFieldbus software. Table 7 - Known Anomalies RSFieldbus Software 15 Software Version Description 2.05 The FFLDC ControlNet Setup Tool will not execute properly in the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system without some initial setup. See page 5 for procedures. 2.03 While a download is being executed, the software allows you to initiate another type of download (HSE network, H1, bridge, device).
