International Distributor Update Update no: 139 Date: 28 July 2000 INDeX Networked Operator Console Professional NOCpro- AVAYA Communication, the former Enterprise Networks Group of Lucent Technologies, is pleased to announce the release of the NOCpro. Orders for the NOCpro will be accepted from the 1st August 2000. The NOCpro is an enhanced version of the current NOC. It introduces improved usability, flexible ways of working and introduces some new features. Enhanced Features The NOCpro includes all the features of the standard Networked Operator Console, including the comprehensive dial ahead feature and call annotation. The NOCpro uses the same client server architecture as the current version of NOC. It is not possible to mix NOCpros with previous revisions of NOC. The NOCpro has been further enhanced to include: - Background working Message desk PC busy lamp field Auto dial enhancements Enhanced user customisation Background Working The NOCpro can support 5 simultaneous clients as per the NOC. In addition, the NOCpro supports background working. This is ideal for multi-functional receptionists and overflow or back-up operators. In background mode, users can use their PCs for other applications and are alerted if the number of waiting calls exceeds a defined threshold. The user has the choice to either activate the NOCpro client and answer the calls, or continue with their current activity. Message Desk NOCpro has a facility that allows operators to create text messages for internal users whilst being connected to external callers. Via the message lamp of the 20-series extensions, users are notified the operator has a message for them. When the extension user calls the operator, the associated text messages are displayed to the operator and relayed verbally to the

individual. This feature ensures external callers can leave messages that are both accurate and secure. E-mail Integration The message desk feature can be integrated with the office e-mail system. This allows text messages entered by the operator to be automatically sent via e-mail to the required extension. PC Busy Lamp Field Operators are able to monitor the status of extensions on the INDeX Communication Platform via the NOCpro BLF. The NOCpro BLF is configured into 5 groups of 20 directory numbers, allowing operators to monitor a maximum of 100 extensions. The NOCpro BLF is able to display the status of extensions and more detailed information relating to, for example, the divert destination. In association with this facility the NOCpro BLF also allows operators to answer, dial or transfer calls to an extension by clicking on the associated button. Auto Dial Screen Enhancements The NOCpro autodial screen has been updated. The number of predefined fields has been increased to 5 to include name, surname, department, extension number and e-mail address. There are a further 3 user definable fields now included. The operator can customise these additional fields to suit their particular requirements. All the fields within the autodial database can be viewed if desired. It is possible to search any of the fields in the autodial database, in the same manner as the current NOC. When the correct entry has been highlighted, the operator is able to dial that extension by a single keystroke. NOCpro Product Codes NOCpro Hardware and Software products are immediately available using the order codes below. For the NOCpro Sever this has increased form 32 to 64 MB and for the Client from 16 to 32 MB. If no extra NOCpro Clients are being added there is no need to purchase further licence keys. When upgrading NOCs please be aware of the compatibility requirements detailed in the support and compatibility section below. Licence Keys All orders for the NOCpros will contain a licence key element. The NOCpro connects to INDeX using licence keys and it is therefore very important to include the licence key element when quoting. NOCpro Hardware Kits The NOCpro Server and Client hardware products will be supplied on Avaya Communication PC5s. The specification for this machine is as follows: NOCpro Server Hardware NOCpro Server PC Speakers NOCpro Software on Kits CD Rom User Guides and Manuals (Language variants) Line Drivers Associated Cables NOCpro Client Hardware NOCpro Client PC NOCpro Software on CD Rom User Guides and Manuals (Language variants) The NOCpro software only kits will enable the reseller to install the NOCpro on either customer or BusinessPartner supplied PCs. 3

NOCpro Software Only Kit: NOCpro Software on CD Rom User Guides and Manuals (Language variants) Associated Cables (Line Drivers in the Server Kits) The NOCpro is not supplied with LAN cables for connection to the customers network; these are not available from Avaya Communication and should be procured locally. The Ethernet cards supplied with the NOCpro are compatible with 50 Ohm-coax cable via BNC connectors and UTP/CAT 5 cabling via RJ45 connectors. The minimum specification of the NOCpro Server and Client PC is shown below: - PC Spec. for NOCpro Server Pentium P133 Processor 64MB RAM NE2000 Compatible Network Card Windows NT 4.0 Workstation PC Spec. for NOCpro Client Pentium P133 Processor 32MB RAM NE2000 Compatible Network Card Windows 95 or NT 4 Workstation The call announcement volume may be increased using a Sound card and set of Speakers. These items are not included in the PC specification of the NOCpro Server and Client as they are not an essential requirement. If the Operator wishes the call announcement volume to be increased a sound card and speakers may be procured locally and installed on the customer / BusinessPartner supplied NOCpro PC. Support and Compatibility The NOCpro Server connects to INDeX via a RS232 port on the CPU or the LAN interface on the CT Server Cassette. The NOCpro Clients are able to connect to the NOCpro Server via the LAN allowing Clients to be distributed throughout the LAN. The NOCpro includes support for both TCP/IP networks as well as IPX networks. If the NOCpro Server incorporates the NOCpro Client on the same PC a maximum of three (3) further NOCpro clients can be connected to the NOCpro Server across the LAN giving a total of 4. If the NOCpro Server is located on a dedicated PC a maximum of five (5) NOCpro Clients may be connected to it via the LAN. The NOCpro requires INDeX CPU software 8.1.2 or above. It is not possible to mix NOCpros with previous revisions of NOC on a single site. The NOCpro has been tested on Windows NT4 Workstation with Service Pack 4. We are currently in the process of testing and trialling NOCpro with service pack 6. When the test and trial process has been completed a notification will be made to our BusinessPartners. NOC and WOC Support Orders for the NOC will no longer be accepted and will automatically be transferred to the NOCpro as of the above date. The NOC and WOC software is included on the NOCpro CD and therefore BusinessPartners are able to install these applications on their own or customers PCs as required. 4

INDeX Software and Operator Console Compatibility Matrix: If BusinessPartners wish to install Operator Consoles on existing INDeX Sites it is very important to ensure the INDeX CPU Software is at the correct level.
