Software Announcement April 19, 2005 IBM Tivoli Directory V provides increased scalability, improved integration, and simplified deployment Overview A solid directory foundation can provide a trusted identity data infrastructure that enables mission-critical security and authentication. IBM Tivoli Directory offers a reliable, scalable, standards-based identity data platform that interoperates with a broad range of operating systems and applications. Directory is compliant with the industry-standard Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) V3. The strong scalability and flexibility offered by Directory can benefit third-party applications as well as IBM solutions for which Directory is the default directory infrastructure, such as and Portal, Tivoli Identity and Access Managers, as well as the AIX operating system. Directory offers robust replication features, including the ability to configure multiple master copies, to provide highly-available implementations for global enterprise 24 x 7 support for important business applications. IBM Tivoli Directory V focuses on performance and scale improvements across the variety of operating systems that Directory runs on, with emphasis on Linux distributions. Key prerequisites For details, refer to the Software requirements section. Planned availability date April 22, 2005 (electronic software delivery) At a glance IBM Tivoli Directory is: A powerful and authoritative enterprise directory infrastructure that is a critical enabler for enterprise security An important part of the IBM Tivoli Integrated Identity Management portfolio and plays a key role in building the enterprise identity data infrastructure for applications, like identity management, portals, and Web services The default directory for and Portal, Tivoli Identity Manager and Access Managers, as well as the AIX operating system New features offered by Directory V include: Directory standard enhancements Security enhancements Serviceability and deployment enhancements Enhanced platform support Performance enhancements This announcement is provided for your information only. Description IBM Tivoli Directory V includes the following new capabilities: Multiple instances of Directory V can co-exist on the same machine. Multi-homed (an industry term for a machine attached to the Internet and also a separate private network) support is provided for Directory servers. Multiple versions of Directory clients on a single machine A Directory V client can co-exist on the same machine with a single, older Directory V4.1, V5.1, or V5.2 client. This includes allowing an older client to run on the same machine as a V server or the V client being able to run with a V4.1, V5.1 or V5.2 server. Coexistence of the IBM Tivoli Directory with other directory vendors is supported in this release (including openldap and sunone). Directory V continues to support co-existence with Microsoft Active Directory. 64-bit client support Support for 64-bit clients on Solaris, Linux zseries, Linux iseries, and Linux pseries. AIX has provided 64-bit client/server support starting with the V5.2 release. Refer to the Software requirements section for support detail on operating system servers and clients. Proxy server A Proxy allows LDAP clients to search and update directory data that is partitioned across multiple (IBM Tivoli) directory servers. It handles connection-pooling, chaining/routing of requests to reduce complexity for the LDAP client-side applications, and provides optimum performance. It supports replicas of partitions, load-balancing between replicas and automatic fail-over. Directory is able to handle searches and writes across a distributed LDAP topology that allows clients to bind using single credentials and have group membership handled seamlessly across the servers. This allows directories to scale to approximately 120 million LDAP entries. The Proxy also provides easy deployment for Failover and High Availability solutions. IPv6 middleware enablement Directory provides support for the IPv6 for host ip names and addresses on all supported platforms. Directory has provided IPv6 support on AIX starting with the V5.2 release of Directory. Security enhancements AES-based password encryption algorithm is provided. Password Policy for Directory Administrators. Performance enhancements Filter Cache modifications have been made to help improve performance when writes occur. Bulkload enhancements can reduce the time it takes to use the bulkload utility to load LDAP entries into. Replication improvements are provided for fast propagation of updates. Serviceability and manageability enhancements Unique Message Identifiers added for all messages. A new Problem Determination Guide is included with this release. A new Error Messages manual that includes recommended user actions. Support using online backup capabilities for the Directory databases. Ease-of-use/deployment improvements Replication conflict resolution/logging based on entry modify timestamps is provided. Non-root users on UNIX now have the ability to administer the LDAP server. InstallShield GUI installation program for Linux platforms, including S/390, iseries, and pseries. The ability to add and remove schema files using configuration tools and the Web Administration tool is added. Silent Uninstall on Windows platforms. Additional platform support Support for the new SUSE LINUX (SLES) V9. Support for AIX V5.3. Starting in this release, the IBM Directory and Client can co-reside with other Directory Vendor products (for example, openldap). The following enhancements require the use of IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator. A limited use Directory Integrator V is provided with IBM Tivoli Directory. SNMP monitoring of Directory. Other enhancements include server tracing, first failure data capture (FFDC), and log file management and collection. The IBM Tivoli Directory V program offering consists of Directory, portions of IBM, the embedded IBM Express, and a limited use IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator. For usage and version details, refer to the Software requirements section. Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act Tivoli Directory is capable, when used in accordance with IBM s associated documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. Product positioning Directory is the default directory for and Portal, Tivoli Identity Manager and Access Managers, as well as the AIX operating system. With its open-architecture approach, Directory fits well into a firm s existing environment and offers the flexibility to add new directory-enabled IBM or non-ibm applications in the future. Directory is the identity data foundation for Tivoli integrated identity management and plays a key role in building the enterprise identity data infrastructure for Tivoli identity management services. 205-095 -2-

With technology as its back-end store, Directory has exceptional reliability and scalability. Directory supports a broad range of operating systems including AIX, Solaris, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, HP-UX, and Linux for Intel as well as all IBM e, iseries, and pseries Linux systems. By replacing OpenLDAP with a directory infrastructure with enterprise-class scalability and reliability, Directory is a key enabler of Linux as an enterprise software platform. Directory is complementary to IBM s platform-optimized directories. It can replicate directly with the OS/400 and z/os LDAP directories and can synchronize with the Lotus Domino Directory via the IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator, creating a comprehensive IBM strategic directory architecture that encompasses all IBM platforms. Directory has an important complementary relationship with the Directory Integrator which synchronizes directory data to the authoritative source across the enterprise. Directory is the default persistent data store for IBM Directory Integrator when that capability is required. A limited use IBM Directory Integrator is available with Directory via Passport Advantage. For Directory implementations, IBM offers a highly skilled global services organization experienced in addressing directory integration challenges and helping customers with their implementation at any phase of deployment Autonomic computing: Autonomic computing is the ability to implement trusted systems and positions you for future software architectures, such as Web services, that expose your internal processes to your supply chain, your significant customers, and to the growing mass of automated machine-to-machine transactions. Managing identity authentication services on an application-by-application basis can be a significant risk exposure in this integrated architecture. To this end, e-business applications are increasingly directory-enabled, that is, they require an open, authoritative source for identity data to enable it to be securely managed as a strategic enterprise resource separately from applications. Directory creates a highly-reliable, scalable, comprehensive, and authoritative identity data infrastructure necessary to enable autonomic computing. Planning information Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and Technical Support, is included in the Passport Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support is provided by the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement. This fee service enhances customer productivity, with voice and electronic access into IBM support organizations. Packaging: IBM Tivoli Directory is only available electronically. There is no physical delivery for this product (no physical packaging). The License Information document and the International Program license Agreement for this product is a part of the electronic download. Refer to the Publications section for information regarding available publications. Security, auditability, and control Tivoli Directory uses the security and auditability features of the operating system software. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-based Pricing terminology IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-based Pricing: IBM Tivoli software products are priced using IBM Tivoli s Enhanced Value-based Pricing. The Enhanced Value-based Pricing system is based upon the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model, which uses a managed-environment approach whereby price is determined by what is managed rather than the number and type of product components installed. For example, all servers monitored with IBM Tivoli s monitoring product (IBM Tivoli Monitoring) require entitlements sufficient for those servers. Other IBM Tivoli products may manage clients, client devices, agents, network nodes, users, or other items, and are licensed and priced accordingly. Unlike typical systems management licensing models that require entitlements of specific software components to specific systems, the IBM Tivoli Environment-Managed Licensing Model provides the customer flexibility to deploy its IBM Tivoli software products within its environment in a manner that can address and respond to the customer s evolving architecture. That is, as the architecture of a customer s environment changes, the customer s implementation of IBM Tivoli software can be altered as needed without affecting the customer s license requirements (as long as the customer does not exceed its entitlements to the software). Under Enhanced Value-based Pricing, licensing and pricing of server-oriented applications are determined based upon the server s use in the customer s environment. Typically, such applications are licensed and priced in a manner that corresponds to each installed and activated processor of the server managed by the IBM Tivoli application to help correlate price to value while offering a simple solution. Where a server is physically partitioned, this approach is modified. This partitioning technique is the approach used with systems that have either multiple cards or multiple frames, each of which can be configured independently. For servers capable of physical partitioning (for example, IBM s pseries Scalable POWERparallel Systems servers, Sun Ultra servers, and HP Superdome servers), an entitlement is required for each processor in the physical partition being managed by the IBM Tivoli application. For example, assume that a server has 24 processors installed in aggregate. If this server is not partitioned, entitlements are required for all 24 processors. If, however, it is physically partitioned into three partitions each containing eight processors, and Tivoli products were managing only one of the three partitions, then entitlements would be required for the eight processors on the physical partition managed by the IBM Tivoli application. For servers with virtual or logical partitions, entitlements are required for all installed and activated processors on the server. For each IBM Tivoli application managing a clustered environment, licensing is based on the cumulative number of installed and activated processors on each server in the cluster for each IBM Tivoli application managing the cluster. Where the cluster includes physically partitioned servers, the considerations described above concerning physically partitioned servers apply as well. Enhanced Value-based Pricing recognizes the convergence of RISC/UNIX and Microsoft Windows/Intel technologies, in order to simplify the customer s licensing requirements, and to provide a smoother, more scalable model. Pricing and licensing does not differentiate between non-zseries server platforms or operating systems. For some products, this platform neutrality extends to zseries and other host servers as well. -5-205-095

IBM Tivoli Enhanced Value-based Pricing terminology definitions Processor A processor is a functional unit in a computer that interprets and executes instructions. A processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and an arithmetic and logic unit. A server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications to one or more clients and/or other devices over a network. Examples include, but are not limited to, file servers, print servers, mail servers, database servers, application servers, and Web servers. Refer to the License Information documents for product-specific extensions to this basic definition. These documents are packaged with all IBM Tivoli products and are also available from http://www.ibm.com/software/sla/ sladb.nsf/sla/browse Product Web site A complete list of products and licensing documents is available at http://www.ibm.com/software/tivoli/products Passport Advantage: Through the Passport Advantage Agreement, customers may receive discounted pricing based on their total volume of eligible products, across all IBM brands, acquired worldwide. The volume is measured by determining the total Passport Advantage points value of the applicable acquisitions. Passport Advantage points are only used for calculating the entitled Passport Advantage discount. To determine the required Tivoli product configuration under Passport Advantage, the Tivoli Enhanced Value-based Pricing Model applies. The customer s environment is evaluated on a per-product basis. Use the following two-step process to determine the total Passport Advantage points value : 1. Analyze the customer environment to determine the number of Tivoli Management Points or other charge unit for a product. The quantity of each product s part numbers to be ordered is determined by that analysis. 2. Order the Passport Advantage part numbers. A Passport Advantage point value, which is the same worldwide for a specific part number regardless of where the order is placed, is assigned to each Tivoli product part number. The Passport Advantage point value for the applicable part number multiplied by the quantity for that part number will determine the Passport Advantage points for that Tivoli product part number. The sum of these Passport Advantage points determines the Passport Advantage point value of the applicable Tivoli product authorizations which then may be aggregated with the point value of other applicable Passport Advantage product acquisitions to determine the total Passport Advantage points value. The discounted pricing available through Passport Advantage is expressed in the form of Suggested Volume Prices (SVPs), which vary depending on the SVP level. Each SVP level is assigned a minimum total Passport Advantage point value, which must be achieved, in order to qualify for that SVP level. Media packs and documentation packs do not carry Passport Advantage points and are not eligible for SVP discounting. License transferability: Charge units are product specific and may not be transferred to another product. Note: There is no transferability in licensing between platforms for end-to-end products where pricing on the IBM e zseries platform is based on MSUs and pricing on other platform servers is per processor. Basic license Ordering information for Passport Advantage: Passport Advantage allows you to have a common anniversary date for Software Maintenance renewals, which can simplify management and budgeting for eligible new versions and releases (and related technical support) for your covered products.
