Overview By leveraging enterprise content for reuse in master records, IBM customers can deliver a single-view of party applications that span all types of information -- data and content. IBM InfoSphere Master Content for InfoSphere Master Data Management Server identifies and synchronizes enterprise content (and its data) with data in the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server. More trusted, complete, and authoritative information about customers and citizens within a single-view application supports better decisions and smarter business outcomes. Traditionally, organizations that aspire to providing a single view of customer to applications throughout their organization use Master Data Management (MDM) products as a foundation. IBM customers provide trusted information about their own customers through the use of the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server. Implicit in that architecture is a focus on providing a single view of a customer using data-structured information typically stored in relational databases. Yet it is a frequently cited statistic that 80% of information in an enterprise is unstructured. An enterprise's content (the unstructured information) routinely makes up the vast majority of information in an enterprise. Yet when business applications (like customer relationship management (CRM) systems or a self-service application) require a trusted view of the customer, Master Data Management systems are typically focused on delivering structured data alone. 2 Business applications rely on InfoSphere Master Data Management Server for trusted master records about customers. IBM InfoSphere Master Content addresses this requirement by linking content from IBM FileNet Content Manager, an enterprise content management (ECM) system. The InfoSphere Master Content offering monitors FileNet Content Manager. If content is added or changed and content meets customer-defined criteria, a linkage is established between a master record in the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server product and the content in FileNet Content Manager. If a corresponding record does not exist in Master Data Management Server, then a new record is created. The result is that master records in InfoSphere Master Data Management Server can now provide a more complete, comprehensive view of customer entities. The "other" 80% of information, or content, is incorporated into the single view of the information provided by the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server. With InfoSphere Master Content, the master record can now span all types of information -- data and content. The trusted information served up by InfoSphere Master Data Management Server is now enhanced to deliver a more complete portrayal of customer entities, and as such provides a more complete basis for making better decisions and driving better business outcomes. This product delivers the following key pieces of new functionality. Ability to create and maintain a linkage between enterprise content and an MDM party. This key piece of functionality is central to the value of the offering. IBM InfoSphere Master Content for monitors FileNet Content Manager. If content is added or changed and that content meets customer-defined criteria, a linkage is established between a master record in the InfoSphere product and the content in FileNet Content Manager. If a corresponding record does not exist in, then a new record is created. The data delivered from IBM FileNet Content Manager is controlled by a mapped configuration. Linkages are only supported between FileNet Content Manager and the partyindividual domain of InfoSphere. Batch loading. In addition to the core, day-forward ability to monitor for new content and new master records, InfoSphere Master Content provides the ability to batch synchronize enterprise content from FileNet Content Manager to InfoSphere. 3 your ECM system. InfoSphere Master Content can enhance the MDM repository with information extracted from IBM FileNet Content Manager. Search and retrieval. InfoSphere Master Content provides a search and retrieval library for resolving search queries for content in FileNet Content Manager based on the master record ID. User interfaces requiring access to the master content can incorporate this library for delivering content synchronized to master records with InfoSphere Master Content.
