6D Embroidery Software - Pretty Paisleys By: Soni Grint Learn what type of picture is best to use for a background while digitizing these pretty paisleys. Adjust the picture as needed before placing stitches. Add different fills and motifs to make your paisley truly special. Create the background image 1. Open the 6D Embroidery System. 2. Quicklink 6D Design Creator. 3. Choose Start a New Design with no Picture. 4. Click Next. 5. Select Background Type as Draw Window. 6. Click Next. 7. Click Change Hoop. 8. Choose Hoop Group Universal, Hoop Size 200 x 200 mm, Orientation Vertical. 9. Click OK. 10. Click Finish. 11. Ensure you are on the Draw page. Click Shapes in the Create Menu. 12. Choose Shape 43 and Draw from Corner. 13. Change the line size to 2 mm. 14. Using the rulers as your guide, start at 40 / 20 then click and drag a paisley to 170 / 150. The first ruler number is the horizontal ruler. The second number is the vertical ruler. 15. Right click to end the tool. Now place the holes in the larger paisley. 16. Click Shapes in the Create menu. 17. Shape 43 and Draw from Corner should already be selected. Page 1
18. Click and drag 2 small paisleys in the bottom part of the paisley. 19. Right click to end the tool. 20. Click one of the small paisleys. 21. Mirror and / or rotate the paisley until you like the orientation. 22. Click Shapes in the Create menu. 23. Choose Shape 40 and Draw from Corner. 24. Click and drag a small paisley near the other 2 paisleys in the middle large paisley. 25. Right click to end the tool. 26. Click on the new paisley. 27. Rotate and move until you like the orientation. 28. Click Shapes in the Create Menu 29. Choose Shape 2 and Draw from Corner. 30. Draw 3 ovals. 31. Move, size and rotate the ovals until you like their placement. If you cannot select a part of the design in the work area, click on it in the film strip. Test the design 32. Click on the Design tab. We have created a background that seems to be correct for a QuickStitch function. 33. On the Create page, choose QuickStitch Fill + Autohole. 34. Move the mouse until it touches the outside line. Left Click. Notice the mouse changes from a pointer to a Don't do that symbol when you move to the work area. It changes back to a pointer when you are directly on the line. 35. Click OK to Color Tolerance. 36. Right click to end the tool. Page 2
Is this what you expected? The QuickStitch Fill + Auto Hole needs to see an area between the fill and hole areas. The empty area in the paisley cannot be seen by the program. The holes we made don t mean anything. Let s try a different tool. 37. Click Undo. 38. Choose QuickStitch Fill. 39. Move the mouse until it touches the outside line. Left Click. 40. Click OK to Color Tolerance. 41. Right click to end the tool. QuickStitch Fill will fill the whole paisley. You can go back in and make the holes. 42. Choose QuickStitch Hole. 43. Move the mouse over the filled area until it turns back into a pointer. 44. Left click. 45. Click OK to Color Tolerance. You can guess where you placed the holes. Although you can find all the holes, if you create the background picture differently, it will make the process easier. 46. Right click to end the tool. 47. Click Undo until you are back to just your background. Readjust the background image 48. Go back to the Draw tab. 49. Left click on the first (large) paisley in the film strip. 50. Move the mouse into the work area and right click. 51. In the Object Properties window, choose to have a fill. 52. Click OK. 53. Click on the second paisley (small) in the film strip. 54. Move to the last oval path in the film strip. Page 3
55. Hold the Shift key on the keyboard and left click on the last path. All the small paths are now selected. 56. Move the mouse into the work area and right click. 57. Right click on the white color in the themes. 58. Click OK. All the paisleys are filled at once with white. Create the Design 59. Click on the Design tab. 60. Click QuickStitch Fill + Auto hole. 61. Left click in the blue area of the paisley. Notice the two colors of Color Tolerance lines. 62. Click OK to Color Tolerance. 63. Right click to end the tool. 64. Click Life View to see your embroidery. There are satin stitches around all of the open areas. 65. Cancel Life View. 66. With the paisley highlighted, right click on the paisley. 67. Click on the arrow next to Satin Line. 68. Choose No Border Line. 69. Click OK. 70. Click Life View. 71. Cancel Life View. Add a motif border 72. Ensure the paisley is selected. 73. On the Create page choose Motif Line. 74. Click QuickStitch Border Line. 75. Move the mouse into the paisley and left click. Page 4
76. Click OK to close the Color Tolerance box. 77. Right click to end the tool. The motif line appears as stars which is the default motif. 78. With the motif line highlighted in the film strip, right click in the film strip. 79. Click Properties. 80. In the Area window, choose Insert Color Change. 81. Click Color Selection. 82. Choose a new color. 83. Click OK. Now you can see the stars. Also notice the color bar in the film strip. 84. With the motif line still highlighted in the film strip, right click in the film strip. 85. Click Properties. 86. In the Area window, Line tab, choose Motif Group Husqvarna Viking, Category H2 Scallop, Pattern 5. 87. Click OK. 88. Zoom in on the curve of the paisley. Notice the gap between the scallop and the paisley on the right. Notice how the scallop overlaps the paisley on the left. 89. With the motif line highlighted in the film strip, right click in the film strip. 90. Click Properties. 91. Click Fit to Line. 92. Move the Area window out of the way. 93. Click Apply. See how the scallop now fits directly on the outside of the paisley. 94. Click OK. Page 5
95. Go to File. Click Save As. Name the file Paisley. Click Save. Make the paisleys unique 96. Left click on the Pattern fill in the film strip. 97. Right click on the selected fill in the film strip. 98. Click Properties. 99. Choose a new fill (Waves 1, pattern 234). 100. Move the Area window out of the way. 101. Click Apply. You can see your changes as you make them. 102. On the Options tab, change the angle of the fill (120). 103. Click Apply. 104. Adjust the fill and angle as desired. When you like the fill, click OK. 105. Go to File. Click Export Embroidery. 106. Choose.vp3 file format. 107. Click OK. 108. Change the file name to paisley1 ex. 109. Click Export. Make 3 Paisley's from one 110. Click on the Edit tab. 111. Click Make Block from Visible Area. 112. Click and drag the paisley to the lower left corner of the hoop. Ensure the paisley is still within the work area! The background image is still showing on the screen. 113. Click the upside down arrow next to Background. 114. Choose Background Off. Alternatively click the Background icon twice. Page 6
115. Click and drag one of the corner handles and make the paisley slightly smaller. 116. With the paisley still highlighted, click Duplicate. 117. Move the new paisley to the upper right corner of the hoop. 118. Click and drag one of the corner handles and make the paisley smaller. Make room for one more paisley. 119. Rotate the paisley. 120. Duplicate the selected paisley. 121. Move this paisley to the lower right part of the hoop. 122. Shrink and rotate as desired. 123. On the film strip, click the second paisley pattern fill. 124. Right click on the film strip. 125. Click Properties. 126. Click the upside down arrow next to Pattern Fill, choose Radial fill. 127. Change the density to 10. 128. Click OK. 129. Move the origin (orange O) to the bottom round part of the paisley. See how the center of the radius moves. 130. In the film strip, click the second motif line. 131. Right click on the film strip. 132. Click Properties. 133. In Group Husqvarna Viking, Category H2 Scallop, choose Pattern 16. Leave Fit to Line active. Click OK. 134. Click on the third pattern fill in the film strip. 135. Right click in the film strip. 136. Choose Properties. 137. Click the upside down arrow next to Pattern fill, choose Cross Hatch fill. Page 7
138. Change the spacing gap to 2 mm, stitch type Double Stitch, style Diamond, diamond angle 45, stitch length 2.0 mm. 139. Click Apply. 140. Adjust the settings as necessary for the size of your paisley. 141. Click OK. 142. Click on the third motif line in the film strip. 143. Right click in the film strip. 144. Click Properties. 145. Choose the motif Group Husqvarna Viking, Category H3 Scallop, Pattern 2, Fit to Line active, Mirror image active if you have used the mirror image while placing the paisley. 146. Change the size of the stitch to as small as it will go. Make sure to keep proportional checked. 147. Click OK. 148. Click Life View. 149. Zoom in and out to see your design up close. 150. Cancel Life View. 151. Go to File. Click Save As. Name the file Paisley 3. Click Save. The.edo file is the design file. By saving in this format you can easily come back and change the fills and motif lines. 152. Go to File. Click Export Embroidery. 153. Choose file format.vp3. 154. Click OK. 155. Right Click to end the tool. 173. Click on the Path in the Film Strip. 174. Click Copy. 175. Click Paste. 176. Click Mirror Horizontally. 177.
