6D Embroidery Software - Pretty Paisleys By: Soni Grint Learn what type of picture is best to use for a background while digitizing these pretty paisleys. Adjust the picture as needed before placing stitches. Add different fills and motifs to make your paisley truly special. Create the background image 1. Open the 6D Embroidery System. 2. Quicklink 6D Design Creator. 3. Choose Start a New Design with no Picture. 4. Click Next. 5. Select Background Type as Draw Window. 6. Click Next. 7. Click Change Hoop. 8. Choose Hoop Group Universal, Hoop Size 200 x 200 mm, Orientation Vertical. 9. Click OK. 10. Click Finish. 11. Ensure you are on the Draw page. Click Shapes in the Create Menu. 12. Choose Shape 43 and Draw from Corner. 13. Change the line size to 2 mm. 14. Using the rulers as your guide, start at 40 / 20 then click and drag a paisley to 170 / 150. The first ruler number is the horizontal ruler. The second number is the vertical ruler. 15. Right click to end the tool. Now place the holes in the larger paisley. 16. Click Shapes in the Create menu. 17. Shape 43 and Draw from Corner should already be selected. Page 1

18. Click and drag 2 small paisleys in the bottom part of the paisley. 19. Right click to end the tool. 20. Click one of the small paisleys. 21. Mirror and / or rotate the paisley until you like the orientation. 22. Click Shapes in the Create menu. 23. Choose Shape 40 and Draw from Corner. 24. Click and drag a small paisley near the other 2 paisleys in the middle large paisley. 25. Right click to end the tool. 26. Click on the new paisley. 27. Rotate and move until you like the orientation. 28. Click Shapes in the Create Menu 29. Choose Shape 2 and Draw from Corner. 30. Draw 3 ovals. 31. Move, size and rotate the ovals until you like their placement. If you cannot select a part of the design in the work area, click on it in the film strip. Test the design 32. Click on the Design tab. We have created a background that seems to be correct for a QuickStitch function. 33. On the Create page, choose QuickStitch Fill + Autohole. 34. Move the mouse until it touches the outside line. Left Click. Notice the mouse changes from a pointer to a Don't do that symbol when you move to the work area. It changes back to a pointer when you are directly on the line. 35. Click OK to Color Tolerance. 36. Right click to end the tool. Page 2

Is this what you expected? The QuickStitch Fill + Auto Hole needs to see an area between the fill and hole areas. The empty area in the paisley cannot be seen by the program. The holes we made don t mean anything. Let s try a different tool. 37. Click Undo. 38. Choose QuickStitch Fill. 39. Move the mouse until it touches the outside line. Left Click. 40. Click OK to Color Tolerance. 41. Right click to end the tool. QuickStitch Fill will fill the whole paisley. You can go back in and make the holes. 42. Choose QuickStitch Hole. 43. Move the mouse over the filled area until it turns back into a pointer. 44. Left click. 45. Click OK to Color Tolerance. You can guess where you placed the holes. Although you can find all the holes, if you create the background picture differently, it will make the process easier. 46. Right click to end the tool. 47. Click Undo until you are back to just your background. Readjust the background image 48. Go back to the Draw tab. 49. Left click on the first (large) paisley in the film strip. 50. Move the mouse into the work area and right click. 51. In the Object Properties window, choose to have a fill. 52. Click OK. 53. Click on the second paisley (small) in the film strip. 54. Move to the last oval path in the film strip. Page 3

Right click on the white color in the themes. 58. Click OK. All the paisleys are filled at once with white. Create the Design 59. Click on the Design tab. 60. Click QuickStitch Fill + Auto hole. 61. Left click in the blue area of the paisley. Notice the two colors of Color Tolerance lines. 62. Click OK to Color Tolerance. 63. Right click to end the tool. 64.
