How-To Guide for UNC s Online Study Abroad Application Welcome! We re so glad to hear that you re considering studying abroad during your time at UNC! Starting January 2018, Study Abroad Applications will now be online. Below you ll find steps to guide you through the online application process.
Step 1 Follow the link above, Study Abroad & Exchange Application. To login, select I have a URSA username and password. You will be taken to an URSA login page. Please use your student login and password. (abcd1234@bears.unco.edu)
Step 2 Select Yes to confirm that you wish to create a profile and begin applying to a program.
Step 3 Select the program that you wish to apply to. While on the program s information page (or brochure page), click the Apply Now button.
Step 4 Next, you ll be taken to the Program Application Page. This page shows both the critical information about the program to which you are applying (e.g., deadline and term), as well as the application requirements for this program.
Step 5 We strongly recommend that you complete the Signature Verification Form first (bottom right). Once this form has been received and processed, you can then complete the other items fairly quickly electronically.
Step 6 Once we have received and processed your Signature Verification form, you will notice that section has disappeared from your Application Homepage. Now you can begin to digitally sign the Signature Documents.
Step 7 Select the Administration Fee Signature Document. Read the clause. If you do not have any questions about the clause, digitally sign the document. Note: If you do have questions about the document, please contact the Study Abroad & Exchange Office before you digitally sign it. PLEASE DO NOT CLICK (DIGITALLY SIGN) WITHOUT READING! Our office is able to see how much time you spent reading and will uncheck your information, which would then entail you coming into our office to go over the clauses with an advisor.
Step 8 When you opt to digitally sign the Signature Document clause, a new window will appear. Select Accept if you wish to digitally sign the document.
Step 9 As you complete the Signature Documents, you will see a check appear in the box to the right of that document. You will also see a green notification box near the top of the page that will tell you whether or not your digital signature was successful.
Step 10 The Application Questionnaire is the main application document that has most of the questions you probably expect to find on such an application. Complete all required items, then select Submit. You will also have the option to save the Application and complete it at a later date.
Step 11 Once you complete the Application Questionnaire, you will receive the green notification box that it was completed successfully and see a check appear in the box to the right.
Step 12 One document that cannot be submitted electronically is the Disciplinary Verification Form. You will need to download and print the form, then take it to the Dean of Students office in Michener. Once completed, send the form to the Study Abroad & Exchange Office (Campus Box 52) or drop it off at our office in the University Center (Room 2205). Once our office receives and processes the form, we will mark this requirement as completed on your Application Homepage.
Step 13 To complete the Statement of Purpose, type your SoP into the provided dialogue box (or cut and paste if you have written your SoP in a Word document).
Step 14 Download the Study Abroad Handbook and select Mark as Read. Read the handbook. If you have any questions or concerns about the content, please contact the Study Abroad & Exchange Office.
Step 15 Please ensure that you have completed all of the requirements for the application. When you look at the Program Application Page, you will see that all of the boxes to the right of the documents are checked.
Step 16 Once you have completed all of the requirements, select Submit Application. If your application is submitted successfully, you will see a green notification box near the top of the page.
Step 17 If your application is accepted, you will receive a message from the Director of Study Abroad, which can be seen from your Applicant Home Page.
