Page: 1 IOS Device Setup for MDM The following instructions and images are based on setting up and registering an ipad 2 but will work with any IOS device (ipad, ipod or iphone) being registered to the MDM server. You will need either the apple ID and password of the person the devices is assigned to or the apple ID and password for the school where the device is assigned SETUP 1. Choose your language 2. Choose your Country or Region 3. Enable location services If location services are not enabled features such as Find my ipad will not work
Page: 2 4. Select SCCPSS as the wireless connection. Password is believe&achieve. Initial setup can be performed either over a wireless connection or by connection the ipad to itunes running on a laptop or desktop. A wireless connection will be needed for later steps in this procedure. 5. Wireless is now configured.
Page: 3 6. Choose set up as new ipad (ipod, iphone). 7. Enter apple ID and password. This will either be the school account or if this is an admin device use the individual user account which should be set up by the person to whom the device is issued. 8. Accept the terms and conditions.
Page: 4 9. Choose use icloud. 10. Choose back up to my computer. 11. Choose use find my ipad.
Page: 5 12. Choose automatically send diagnostics and usage. Set up of the IOS device is now complete and you will see a screen saying start using ipad. Before registering with the MDM server, all IOS devices need to have the pass code enabled. 13. Tap settings from the home screen.
Page: 6 14. Tap general in the settings menu. 15. Tap turn on passcode. Once you tap turn on passcode you will be prompted to enter a 4 character passcode. You will then be prompted to confirm the passcode you selected. REGISTERING WITH THE MDM SERVER After setting the IOS device up for use it is necessary to register the device with the MSM server. Until the IOS device is registered with the MDM server connection to the Barney wireless network is not possible.
Page: 7 16. Open the app store application and search for the MobileIron app. 17. Tap install and enter the password associated with the apple ID being used on the device. 18. Tap the MobileIron app
Page: 8 19. Tap accept on the push notifications dialog and on request to use current location. 20. Enter your BOE user name. 21. Tap next on the keyboard and enter mdm.sccpss.com as the server name.
Page: 9 22. Enter your BOE password. 23. Tap Install on the install profile dialog. 24. Tap install now on the Unverified Profile dialog.

Page: 11 Connecting to Barney Once the ISO device has been registered with the MDM server several certificates and profiles will be down loaded. One of the profiles will download a certificate which will allow the IOS device to connect to the secure wireless network. Another of the profiles will contain all of the necessary settings for receiving BOE e-mail. It may take several minutes for the certificates and profiles to download. Due to the nature of IOS devices multiple attempts will sometimes have to be made to join the secure wireless network. 27. Tap on the settings icon on the home screen. 28. Tap on the general icon.
Page: 12 29. Tap on the profiles listing to confirm that the Barney profile has been downloaded. 30. Tap on the Wi-Fi listing on the settings menu. 31. Tap on the Barney listing. 32. Accept the certificate if presented.
Page: 13 33. Tap the more (>) icon on the listing for SCCPSS. 34. Tap on forget this network. Your IOS device is now setup and registered with the MDM server. E-MAIL CONFIGURATION Once the IOS device has been registered with the MDM server a profile called SCCPSS Mail will be down loaded. This profile will contain all of the information you will need to be able to receive BOE e-mail. 35. Tap the > icon on the profiles listing.
Page: 14 36. Look for the SCCPSS Mail profile 37. Tap the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars listing to bring up the email account. 38. Confirm that the user s password (will appear as a series of dots) is filled in. Tap Done.
Page: 15 39. If the IOS device being configured is an iphone, you will need to dial *228 at this point to set up the phone through Verizon. Simply follow the prompts presented.
