Installing the NCU sftware: Fr installing the NCU sftware yu require the NCU Service System V1.50.07 r higher n USB stick. Upgrade / new installatin can be perfrmed either using WinSCP r TCU. 1.1 Installing the NCU service system n a USB stick: The NCU service system is stred as a USB stick image in directry emergency_btsys_ncu n the DVD-ROM. The cpy rutine installdisk.exe is stred in the same lcatin. Cnnect a USB stick 512MB, recmmended type Siemens 6ES7648-0DC20-0AA0, t yur prgrammer r PC (with Windws XP) and nte dwn the letter f the drive t which the stick is cnnected. Run rutine installdisk t cpy the NCU service system t the USB stick: Installdisk --verbse --blcksize 1m <Image file> <drive letter:> ( -- means 2x minus sign) Example: installdisk --verbse --blcksize 1m D:\ emergency_btsys_ncu\linuxbase-512m.img X: It is best t cpy the image in a DOS shell. Fr this yu require administratr rights n yur PG / PC. After cmpletin f installdisk remve the USB stick frm the PG / PC and insert it again. Under Windws yu can nw see an empty USB stick. Nw cpy the desired NCU sftware (file with extensin.tgz) frm directry ncu_sw n the delivered DVD t this USB stick. The USB stick can be cnnected t ne f the tw USB cnnectrs f the NCU 7x0. The NCU will bt frm this USB stick after pwer ON. The system perates either via a TCU that is cnnected t the NCU, r via PG / PC thrugh WinSCP under "Open Terminal". Instructins n hw t use the NCU service system can be fund in dcumentatin /IM7/ n the DVD-ROM. Nte: Bting the NCU service system frm a USB stick f type "SanDisk cruzer mini 1.0GB" des nt wrk. NCU Sftware with HMI Embedded 1.3 SP3 1.2 Upgrading an NCU 7x0 with NCU sftware 1.3 (>= NCU Versin 01.03.01) IMPORTANT: This prcedure exclusively applies fr existing systems with NCU sftware 01.03.01, but nt fr preliminary sftware with versins lder than 01.03.01. See 1.3 fr NCU sftware with versins lder than 01.03.01. When the sftware is upgraded, all user data are maintained in directries /user, /addn, /em f the CF card as well as the license key. Bt the NCU frm the USB stick (see 1.1). Select the Service Shell by pressing F2 / sftkey 2. Lg in with user name "manufact". An external keybard may be required fr this, as user names must be written in lwer case letters. After perating prmpt $ f the service shell enter the fllwing cmmand: sc restre -update -frce /data/<ncu-sw>.tgz The sftware update will be cmpleted when prmpt $ is displayed again. Remve the USB stick. Bt the NCU (F3 / sftkey 3 "Restart"). Yu can nw start the PLC, drives and NC. 1.2.1 Upgrade using WinSCP Systems withut TCU at the NCU can be upgraded with WinSCP, fr example n a PCU 50. Fr this purpse, lg n at the NCU with WinSCP as "manufact" and cpy the required NCU sftware (file with extensin.tgz) frm directry ncu_sw f the delivered DVD t /card/user/system/hme/manufact n the NCU. Then enter the fllwing cmmand under Cmmands / Open Terminal: sc restre -update -frce <ncu-sw>.tgz Sftware installatin will be cmpleted when message "Syncing disks... dne" is displayed. Afterwards an NCU rebt is required. File <ncu-sw>.tgz n the NCU shuld be deleted. Remark: During installatin messages may be displayed claiming that the cmmunicatin partner has nt reacted fr sme time. Yu can ignre these messages, but please d nt cut the cnnectin in this case. 1.3 New installatin f NCU sftware 1.3 SP3 n CF card IMPORTANT: This prcedure cmpletely deletes anything existing n the CF card; this applies fr an empty CF card as well. Bt the NCU frm the USB stick (see 1.1). Select the Service Shell by pressing F2 / sftkey 2. Lg in with user name "manufact"; when the CF card is empty use "admin", passwrd "SUNRISE" instead. An external keybard may be required fr this, as user names must be written in lwer case letters. After perating prmpt $ f the service shell enter the fllwing cmmand: sc restre -full /data/<ncu-sw>.tgz Sftware installatin will be cmpleted when prmpt $ is displayed again. Remve the USB stick. Bt the NCU (F3 / sftkey 3 "Restart"). When the system is started with TCU(s) fr the first time, the TCU(s) must be lgged n t the system. Enter the TCU name (default TCUx) and the address f an assigned MCP. Fr the time being, 255 must always be entered! Yu can nw start the PLC, drives and NC. 2. General infrmatin: After new installatin f NCU sftware 1.3 SP3 n CF card, a general reset f the NCU and PLC must be perfrmed: Change the SIM / NCK switch int psitin 1, the PLC switch int psitin 3 and perfrm a pwer OFF / ON. NCU 710 / NCU 720: The PLC prgram must initiate an immediate (apprx. 20 sec.) reactin t alarm "2120 NCK fan alarm" by stpping the axes in a cntrlled manner. Siemens AG 2006 A&D MC RD 51 Page 2 f 12

NCU Sftware with HMI Embedded 1.3 SP3 NCU730: The PLC prgram must initiate an immediate (apprx. 20 sec.) reactin t alarm "2120 NCK fan alarm" by stpping the axes in a cntrlled manner, if NO duble fan mdule is used. NCU 710 / NCU 720: The NCU will nt pwer up if a fan mdule is nt installed r if the fan is defective. This applies fr NCU730 with duble fan mdule nly in the case f failure f bth fans. Alarm 15122 "%1 data have been restred, f which %2 machine data, %3 errr" If %3 indicates that mre than zer errrs have ccurred, it is nt advisable t cntinue wrking with the data. T avid further prblems, yu shuld read in an up-t-date backup cpy f the data. It is nt always pssible t prt an NCK series startup file frm 840D pwerline withut prcessing t 840D sl. Prir t verwriting a licensed CF card, a backup f the license key is abslutely necessary. The key is available in file keys.txt and is stred under the path card/keys/sinumerik The backup f the key can be carried ut, fr example, with WinSCP, by the PG / PC. Each license is assigned t a specific CF card (card ID) and is valid nly n the assigned card. Handheld unit type B-MPI In rder t make the input / utput image f the handheld available fr the PLC, the handheld unit must be cnnected t the MPI bus f the slutin line via distributin unit 6FX2006-1B..01. The handwheel f the handheld unit can n lnger be cnnected directly t the cntrl system. The handwheel f the handheld can n lnger be cnnected directly t the cntrl system. The handwheel pulses are nw transmitted t the cntrl via PROFIBUS. There are tw ptins: - In additin t the MPI distributin unit a handwheel cnnectin mdule PROFIBUS 6FC5303-0AA02-0AA0 is set. Tw handwheels can be cnnected t this mdule. - The handwheel is cnnected t an already existing machine cntrl panel. Nte the permissible cable lengths. When FB1 is parameterized as usual, the input / utput image will n lnger be transmitted autmatically via the PLC base prgram. Transmissin is nw perfrmed thrugh glbal data. The hardware cnfiguratin f the PLC must be adjusted accrdingly. A tlbx is required fr cnfiguring the hardware f the machine cntrl panel r handwheel cnnectin mdule PROFIBUS ndes. Mini handheld unit An additinal hardware is nw required t perate a mini handheld with handwheel. As previusly the inputs are cnnected directly t the PLC I/Os r can alternatively be integrated int the input image f the MCP IE (X51 ) using a relevant cnnectin kit. Fr transmitting the handwheel signals a machine cntrl panel (Ethernet r PROFIBUS) r a handwheel cnnectin mdule PROFIBUS is nw required as fr the type MPI handheld unit. After having laded the PLC archive (hardware cnfiguratin) the system must be pwered ff and n. Otherwise prblems with HMI Emb. might ccur during drive archive read-in. It will therefre make sense t create the archives NC, PLC, etc. separately. The DHCP server n X127 is nt functinal with the NCU730. MCP IE: If an MCP IE is cnnected t a cntrl, it will be called by the NCU with the address set at that time. Later changes t the address settings thrugh S2 n the MCP will nt have any effect. Remedy: Delete file udhcpd-eth0.leases frm directry card/system/etc/ using WinSCP, then rebt the NCU and MCP. Cntur handwheel nly with Prfibus MCP 3. Infrmatin abut the NCK: The NCU 730.1 (6 FC 5 373-0AA00-0AA0) can be used with versin 1.3 SP3. Functin G643 (blck-internal smthing) has been released fr applicatins in the tl change area (e.g. ptimizatins fr appraching the tl change psitin). The functin has nt been released fr applicatins in the machining prcess. Functin G644 (smthing at max. pssible dynamics) has been released fr applicatins in the tl change area (e.g. ptimizatins fr appraching the tl change psitin). The functin has nt been released fr applicatins in the machining prcess. Sftware variant fr a max. f six axes: The default setting fr the number f axes is 3. The "Extended measurement" functin with distributed measuring input n the SINAMICS mdules is nt available (MEAC, MEASA, MEAWA). Siemens AG 2006 A&D MC RD 51 Page 3 f 12

The nly available system variables are thse transferred in telegram 116. ESR is nt enabled. $MN_MM_USER_MEM_BUFFERED is currently limited t abut 12200. The parts prgram memry can nly be extended when there is free SRAM displayed in MD18060. The relevant ptin must be set (+1 means an extensin by 2MB) and refers t the sum f: $MN_MM_U_FILE_MEM_SIZE[ 0 ]; 18352 -> cycles, part prgrams f end user $MN_MM_M_FILE_MEM_SIZE[ 0 ]; 18353 -> machine manufacturer's cycles ASUBs can nw be started alng the line f the 840Di functinality via the PROFIBUS PLC I/Os. Machine data settings must be selected by the same methd used n the 840Di system. There are n high-speed NCK I/Os mapped in DB10 f the PLC. Hwever, the ASUB start ptins used in earlier versins (i.e. frm DB10 r FC9 via PLC prgram) are still available. With a 31-axis sftware n an NCU 710.1 yu can use six ut f 31 axes and tw ut f 10 channels. Number f axes > 15 nly after request. WinSCP will be required fr an update withut TCU. Fr updating via TCU a USB full keybard is required (upper / lwer case switchver). The "ínstalldisk" tl can nly be used under WinXP. Machine data 10008 $MN_MAXNUM_PLC_CTRL_AXES is n lnger included in the data recrd. It has been replaced by MD19160. Fr upgrading use 512MB USB sticks, if pssible. Sme USB sticks d nt wrk. Read-in f drive series startups is cancelled frm time t time. Frequently when using NX mdules r higher versins. If tl data are missing after series startup read-in (created with NCK < 62.13.00), the file must be read in again withut deleting the NC. MD 10062 $mn_psctrl_cycle_delay must be zer. Infrmatin abut the SINAMICS drive: N autmatic cntrller ptimizatin The "Starter" tl is required fr prcessing the SINAMICS tplgy (presumably reslved with HMI Adv. 7.2 SP 1) and fr handling direct measuring systems. It is advisable t set parameter p9906 (tplgy cmparisn, "all cmpnents" level) t "2". This crrespnds t the "lw" level (cmparisn f cmpnent type and rder number). Can be changed when P9=1; then change the parameter and set P977=1 fr strage. If a SINAMICS cmpnent is replaced and the sftware upgraded, the firmware release must be checked and, where necessary, the riginal firmware release restred. Infrmatin abut HMI Embedded: The HMI Embedded sftware V07.10.87 is started autmatically as a cmpnent f the NCU sftware 1.3 SP3 in the pwer-up f the NCU7x0. HMI Embedded is als referred t as an "internal HMI". HMI Embedded can be perated nly via a cntrl panel with TCU cnnected via Ethernet t X120 n the NCU7x0. The cnfiguring data such as PLC message and alarm texts and HMI ptin package ("Wizard") must be stred n the CF card in the NCU in the apprpriate directries under /card/user/sinumerik/hmi/... r /card/em/sinumerik/hmi/... (see dcumentatin IM2, BE1). The file system n the CF card can be accessed in "nline" mde nly, i.e. when the NCU is running. The data can be transferred either by means f a USB stick r netwrk link via the HMI peratr interface (startup / HMI area) r by means f a netwrk link and the WinSCP tl. IMPORTANT: File names f cnfiguring files must nrmally be written in lwer case letters. Display MD 9990 SW_OPTIONS has n significance. All HMI ptins must be activated thrugh license management. The ptin "Additinal 256MB HMI user memry n CF card" is required t be able t stre part prgrams and archives n the CF card ("lcal drive"). Attentin: An NCK general reset deletes the ptin and renders the "lcal drive" inaccessible until the ptin is set again. Existing data stred n the card are nt affected. If yu are perating an NCU withut TCU (i.e. with HMI Advanced n PCU 50), it is advisable t deactivate HMI Embedded. Yu can d this by executing cmmand "sc disable hmi" in the service shell. A license key can nly be entered when sftkey "all licenses" was activated nce. Drive archives can nw be created and read in at SINAMICS cnfiguratins with NX mdules. SINAMICS mdule TM15 is nw supprted. 6.1 Limitatins in HMI Embedded: Muse peratin is nt supprted, peratin via tuch panel is nt permissible. Cpying a file t CF card by verwriting an existing file with the same name will cause an "internal errr" message. The file with the same name must be deleted befre. Display MD 9210 USER_CLASS_WRITE_ZOA is nt active fr "active wrk ffset" in the Parameter area. Display MD 9900 MD_TEXT_SWITCH des nt have any effect. When the Prgram r Services area is active, sftkey "USB Frnt" will nt autmatically be highlighted in black by cnnecting a USB stick, but access t the USB stick is pssible nevertheless. Prcessing f parts prgrams frm a USB data carrier (external prcessing, EXTCALL) is nt recmmended, because the USB data carrier is nt prtected against remval by accident. Fr the startup f the SINAMICS drives, an external HMI Advanced 7.2 SP1 r start-up tl 7.2 is required (the CD SINUCOM includes the start-up tl). Prcessing frm external surces / EXTCALL is nly permissible with single-channel machines. Ladable cmpile cycles cannt be backed up r read in using NC series startup archive. Ladable cmpile cycles are stred n the CF card f the NCU and retained in case f NC memry reset. They can be handled like HMI cnfiguring data. In a parts prgram with EXTCALL calls, there must be at least ne ther NC blck between tw sequential EXTCALL calls with a prcessing duratin f at least ne secnd. When very big files are saved n CF card, the message "Please wait File being flashed" will be displayed. This message must be acknwledged by pressing the Recall buttn. If yu want t switch ff the cntrl after having saved the file, yu will have t wait fr ne secnd fr each MB file size. Drive alarms that ccur immediately after the pwer-up are nt displayed frmatted. After reading in a NC series startup archive, an explicit restart f the HMI is required, e.g. thrugh NCK reset r peratin with CTRL + Q, Enter It is nt pssible t integrate a user bt screen. After a 0-1-0 edge change f PLC interface signal DB19.DBX0.6, the message "Crash lg fund versin V24" will be displayed after each HMI bt. Remedy: Delete file _ac_lgp.bin under path siemens/sinumerik/hmi. 7. Infrmatin abut the NCU Base sftware: The Linux perating system f the NCU7x0 is als referred t as the NCU Base sftware, similar t the PCU Base sftware fr the PCU 50. Yu will find the relevant dcumentatin in IM7 n the DVD-ROM. The NCU base sftware ensures the start amng ther things f the NC, PLC, and HMI sftware during pwer-up as well as the bting f the TCU if it is present. The NCU Base sftware is user-riented, i.e. yu must lg in and enter a passwrd in rder t acquire specific access authrizatin. This current lgin and passwrd prtectin is nly relevant fr accessing a Linux service shell r the CF card using WinSCP. Fr startup and servicing activities, the lgin ID is "manufact" and the passwrd "SUNRISE" (case-sensitive!). T pen the Linux service shell n the TCU, press keys "Area switchver" and "Recall" (F10 and F9) simultaneusly, then "Scan fr Servers", "2" r bt frm the USB service system. Fr access via the netwrk using WinSCP, enter the abvementined lgin and passwrd n the "Sessin" screen. This lgin prcedure als applies after the NCU7x0 has bted frm a USB stick with the NCU service system prvided that executable NCU sftware is installed n the CF card. If this is nt the case (e.g. if the CF card is empty), enter the lgin ID "admin" and passwrd "SUNRISE". Yu can display a list f the syntax f all available service cmmands in the service shell by running cmmand "sc help". Imprtant system and netwrk settings in the NCU Base sftware are preset in file basesys.ini in directry /card/user/system/etc and can be mdified in this file.
