Edline Super User s Guide for Creating a Group Page, Assigning a User to the Group Page and Linking The Group Page to A Member of the School Staff Directory Edline, Guilford County Schools district website hosting service, provides each school s webmaster or super user administrative privileges, ensuring site-based support for teachers and effective delivery of information on the school s website. Activity: Creating a group page, assigning a user to the group page and linking the group page to a staff member in the school s staff directory. Note: These instructions will only be successful if the staff directory is created within Edline. 1. Navigate to Edline s website, www.edlinesites.net, then enter your super user screen name and password. Click Sign In. Once you ve logged in, the home page opens in edit mode. 2. Click the icon that allows the super user to choose Standard View or List View and select List View. 3. A window containing a list of group pages opens after clicking List View. Look for the drop down menu located beside the Add (+) button. Choose Group. Guide to Creating Group Page and Linking it to the Staff Directory 2
4. After Group is selected click the Add (+) button. 5 5. The Create Group window is opened. Now enter the name you wish to appear on the group page. 6 6. After entering the group page name, you will need to assign a user to this page. Click on Group Management to begin this process. Guide to Creating Group Page and Linking it to the Staff Directory 3
7. After clicking Group Management, a drop down menu appears. Choose Members & Permissions. 8. Next, the Group Member List window opens. Click on Search For Users To Add to assign a user to this group page. 8. Toggle the box of the user you wish to assign to this page. 9. Click the box beside the user you wish to assign to this page. 10. Once you ve selected the user, scroll further down this page and click, Add Selected Users To Group. Guide to Creating Group Page and Linking it to the Staff Directory 5
11. Clicking the Add Selected Users To Group button takes you back to the Group Member List window where you see the title of the new group page and the name of the user assigned underneath the title. Now click Done. 12. Clicking Done takes you from the Group Member List window back to the Create Group window. Before you click Save & Return you need to copy the URL for the group page just created so that you can link it to a staff member in the staff directory. To copy the URL, simply click the arrow on the Friendly URL tab located at the bottom of the Create Group page. Guide to Creating Group Page and Linking it to the Staff Directory 6
13. Next click Copy to Clipboard. 14. NOW, you can click Save & Return. 14. NOW, you can click, Save & Return. 15. The Group Page listing is displayed. Click Done. New Group Page Name is now added to Group Page List Guide to Creating Group Page and Linking it to the Staff Directory 7
Congratulations! You have created a group page and copied the URL for the group page. The next 5 steps will guide you through linking the group page to a staff member in the staff directory! 16. Clicking the Done button in Step 15 redirects you to the school home page (you are still in edit mode). Click on Staff located on the top navigation bar of the homepage. 17. 18. Since the Staff Directory was created as a table using Edline s table tool, you can highlight the staff member s name and the tools available for editing will appear at the top of the page. Click the link icon Highlighting the staff member s name, opens the editing tools. 19. Paste the URL address you copied earlier into the Link URL box and click Insert. 20. The staff member s name that you highlighted in Step 18 has now been hyperlinked to the URL address you pasted in the Link URL box. This is indicated by the line underneath the staff member s name. You can finish this task by clicking SAVE. Clicking Save completes the task of linking a staff member to the group page. A hyperlink was successfully added to the staff member in the school directory. Congratulations!
