Copyright Passing on or duplicating the contents of this manual or parts of it is only allowed with our express written permission. Offenders will be subject to claims for damages. All Rights Reserved. Auerswald GmbH & Co. KG, 38162 Cremlingen, 2003 The scope of functions described here is only completely usable with a professional installation and a correct configuration of the PBX and the connected PC. We highly recommend to consult your authorized dealer first. Please ask your network operator about the availability of some ISDN service attributes. There may be incompatibilities in combination with terminals and devices of other vendors that adversely influence the usability of functions.

Introduction 3 This manual describes the installation and use of the enclosed drivers (Version 2.0047 or later) necessary for the operation of your Auerswald USB device 1) at the USB interface of a PC. Different functions such as Internet access, fax sending and receiving as well as Euro- File-Transfer are also described. If you have allready done the driver installation earlier and like to use the drivers Version 2.0047 (or later) now, you will have to update the drivers first as described on CD (Auerswald Mega Disk) and on our homepage (www.auerswald.de). USB Driver: You are absolutely in need of the Auerswald USB driver if you connect your Auerswald USB device to the USB interface of a PC even if you only like to configure the device via this interface. USB/CAPI Transport Driver: The CAPI driver needs the USB/CAPI transport driver in order to understand the messages of firmware and USB driver of the device. CAPI 2.0 Driver: With the Auerswald USB device you can imitate the functions of an ISDN PC-controller: COMpact 2104 USB imitates the functions of an ISDN PC-controller on the external S 0 port COMpact 2206 USB, COMpact 4410 USB and COMfort 2000 imitate the functions of an ISDN PC-controller on the internal S 0 port. To use the so called CAPI interface, you will need the Auerswald CAPI 2.0 driver. The parallel operation of the integrated ISDN PC-controller of your Auerswald USB telephone and an additional ISDN PC-controller of another vendor with CAPI interface is not possible. Before the installation of the Auerswald CAPI 2.0 driver the additional ISDN PCcontroller including all drivers should be removed. TAPI Driver The TAPI driver enables TAPI applications via the USB interface of the Auerswald USB device (TAPI=Telephony Application Programming Interface). You can control the device with different Window applications using the TAPI interface (e.g. Auerswald COMsuite). Applications for Windows 98, Me, XP and 2000 are supported. The TAPI operation mode will automatically be configured when the corresponding application starts. NDISWAN Driver: During the CAPI driver installation the Auerswald NDISWAN drivers will additionally be copied onto your harddisk. You will need these drivers to establish the connection to the internet. Your Auerswald USB telephone will work like an ISDN network controller in a network of 1. COMfort 2000, COMfort 2000 plus, COMpact 2104 USB, COMpact 2206 USB and COMpact 4410 USB

4 many different computers the internet. The NDISWAN drivers must be installed by you after the installation copied them onto the harddisk (Windows 2000 and XP: The drivers will be installed automatically during the CAPI driver installation). (NDISWAN is a standard for the connection of network controllers to the corresponding protocols. NDIS = Network-Device-Interface-Specification; WAN = Wide-Area-Networking). Auerswald COMsuite: This is an application packet that uses the possibilities of the integrated USB interface and the most important tasks of modern data communication (fax, answering machine, Euro-File- Transfer, CTI) can professionally be controlled via PC.

PBX Configuration 7 PBX CONFIGURATION For the driver installation, the internet setup as well as the configuration of Auerswald COMsuite you will need some telephone numbers out of the PBX configuration or that you might have to enter into the PBX configuration. If the configuration of the PBX needs to be done via USB interface, the USB driver installation has to be done first. (see page 9). Example for the USB Telephone COMfort 2000 If you like to use the ISDN PC-controller functions of the COMfort 2000, you have to do settings for the PBX connected to the system telephone with the configuration program (here e.g. COMmander Basic). Under Internal telephone numbers please enter up to three telephone numbers as device ISDN PC-controller (on the same internal S 0 port as the COMfort 2000). Use these telephone numbers for the functions in this example. 1. ISDN PC-controller (AM): Answering machine function 2. ISDN PC-controller (Fax machine, line 2): Fax machine-receiving, Internet access No. 2 in case of channel bundling 3. ISDN PC-controller (line 1): Internet access No. 1 in case of channel bundling In the Call distribution assign the internal telephone numbers to external telephone numbers. Both internal telephone numbers for the internet access with channel bundling have to be assigned to the same external telephone number. This has also to be presented to the internet provider (configuration with the option presentation of the same telephone number on the page subscriber settings... telephone number -> external ). The telephone is assigned to another external telephone number. Calls will be redirected from the telephone to the answering machine with a Subscriber Call Forwarding if necessary. Alternatively a second configuration (day/night) can be configured: The answering machine is assigned to the external telephone number of the telephone.

8 Examples for the USB Devices COMpact 4410 USB and COMpact 2206 USB Examples for the USB Devices COMpact 4410 USB and COMpact 2206 USB If you like to use the ISDN PC-controller functions of the COMpact 4410 USB or the COMpact 2206 USB, you have to do settings for the PBX with the configuration program COMset. Under Internal telephone numbers you have to configure up to three telephone numbers as device ISDN PC-controller for the USB port. Use these telephone numbers for the functions in this example. 1. ISDN PC-controller (AM): Answering machine function 2. ISDN PC-controller (Fax machine, line 2): Fax machine receiving, Internet access No. Example for the USB Device COMpact 2104 USB If you like to use the ISDN PC-controller functions of the COMpact 2104 USB, you have to reserve two of the external telephone numbers provided by your network operator (do not include in the call distribution). Use these for the following functions. 1st external telephone number: Answering machine function 2nd external telephone number: Fax receiving, internet access No. 1 and 2 in case of channel bundling
