Importing Grades into GradeSpeed In order for grades to be imported into GradeSpeed, the following qualifications must be met for each file type below: Example 1: In Microsoft Excel, the workbook must be saved as Comma Delimited (.csv) file. The first column should contain the Student ID number. The second column should contain the student score. Example 2: In Microsoft Word, the document must be saved as a Plain Text (.txt) file. The Student ID should be listed first, followed by a comma, and the grade. Example 1: Excel file saved as.csv Example 2: Word file saved as.txt Exporting Rosters from GradeSpeed: 1. Click Grades at the top of the screen and choose the correct class. 2. On the left of the screen, you should see Export Roster. Click Export Roster. 3. The format will be listed as CPS. Click OK. 4. Click Save to save the file to your U: drive. 5. If necessary, choose the folder where the file should be saved. Give the file an appropriate file name. Click Save. 6. Choose to Open, Open Folder, or Close. Importing Rosters from GradeSpeed into CPS (eclicks): You must complete steps 1-5 above. 1. Open the CPS program. 2. Click the Prepare tab and then choose Classes & Students. 3. 6. Find where the roster from GradeSpeed was saved. Choose the correct roster name and click Open. 7. Choose the correct instructor for this class and click OK. Repeat Steps 5-7 for each of your classes, if necessary. 8. Place a check beside the roster(s) that you would like to import and then click Next. 9. Exporting Grades from CPS: After you have administered an assessment to students through CPS, you can run a report that allows for the export of student grades in a.csv file. 1. In CPS, click the Report tab. 2. Click on the assessment that you would like to export and then click Generate. 3. If you want the student s average to export, choose Angel/WebCT Export. If you want raw scores to export, choose Raw Response Data Export. Click Preview. When you choose preview, CPS will automatically save a.csv file with the data in the same drive/folder that your CPS database is saved. 4. If you choose Angel/WebCT Export, your exported.csv file should look similar to the file shown here. You must delete Row 1. You must delete Column A and Column B. 6. If you choose Raw Response Data Export, your exported.csv file should look similar to the file shown here. In the example below you must delete the following columns and rows: You must delete Columns A-B, Columns D-O, Columns Q-R You must delete Rows 1-13 Once the rows and columns have been deleted your file should look similar to the one shown here: 7. Importing Grades into GradeSpeed: Student grades must be stored in either a.csv file or a.txt file shown on page 1 of this resource. 1. Click the Assignments button at the top of the page. Create and add a new assignment. However, do not fill in any grades for this assignment. 2. Click the Grades button at the top of the screen. Click on the assignment name to open the Grades by Assignment View. 3. On the Grades by Assignment View, click the Import button located on the left side of the page. 4. Choose the type as Generic and click Browse to find your.csv file with student grades. 5. If your grades successfully import, you will see a screen similar to the one shown below and grades will appear: (If an error window appears instead of the window above, then check the formatting of the selected file and make sure it is in the required [student ID], [score] format.) 6.
