amaysim Guide to Mobile Internet Settings and MMS for Windows 6.5
Here s a guide to set up your Windows mobile 6.1 or 6.5 internet connection and MMS. Just follow these easy steps. Before you start, you may need your handset user manual. If you don t have a copy, you can find it online. Search manufacturer s name, model of your handset & user manual (e.g. HD2 user manual). Some key terms What do we mean by tap and push? Tap means using your touch screen. Push means pushing the hard buttons on your phone. EASY OPTION 1 Automatic set-up for both internet and MMS 1. Insert your amaysim SIM and switch it on. If you need help, watch our handy Video FAQ 2. You ll see a list of networks 3. Select YES Optus and tap Next 4. You will be returned to the home screen and internet and MMS have been automatically set up EASY OPTION 2 Manual set-up for both internet and MMS 1. Push the Windows or Menu key 2. Tap Settings 3. Tap Menu 4. Tap All settings 5. Tap Connections 6. Tap Connection set-up 7. You ll see two drop-down menus. One is for your country. Select Australia. One is for Operator or Network. Select Yes Optus 8. Tap OK and then tap Yes 9. The phone will complete the set-up for you. Once completed, tap Done. internet and MMS have been set-up You re finished! If Option 1 or Option 2 has worked for you, you do not need to read any further. If you re still unable to connect to the internet, go to Option 3. 2
OPTION 3 Manual Set-up for internet If the previous two options have not worked for you, please try this. 1. Tap Menu, Windows or Start button 2. Tap Settings 3. Tap MENU 4. Tap All Settings 5. Tap Connections folder 6. Tap Connections icon 3
10. Do Step 8 and 9 until no providers are listed. (Delete them all, one at a time) 7. Tap Manage existing connections. If this is not on your mobile, go to step 12 8. Tap and hold any existing connections (eg. these are your previous provider s) 9. Tap DELETE 11. To set up your new connection, tap New and go to Step 13 12. Tap Add a new modem connection 4
13. Key in amaysim internet as the name for the connection 14. On Select a modem, tap the down arrow 15. Tap Cellular line (GPRS) 16. Tap Next 17. At Access Point Name, key in Internet 18. Tap NEXT 5
21. Tap the X in the top right corner. Push the Home button. Your Internet should now be connected. 19. Tap FINISH 20. Tap OK 3 times 6
OPTION 3 (continued): Manual Set-up for MMS Now you need to set-up your MMS. Please note if you used Option 1 or Option 2 (automatic set-up), your mobile should already be set-up for MMS. 1. Tap Menu, Windows or Start button 2. Tap Messages 3. Tap MENU 4. Tap Settings 5. Tap OPTIONS 6. Tap Menu 7
8. If any are present from your previous provider, delete these first. If none or only one is listed, go to Step 14 7. Tap MMS Server 9. Tap the service that is listed 10. Tap Cancel 11. Tap MENU 12. Tap Delete 8
14. Repeat steps 9 13 until all are deleted 13. Tap empty box next to connection and then tap Done 15. Tap New 16. For Server Name key in amaysim MMS 17. For IP address key in 61.88.190.10 18. For Port number key in 8070 9
24. Send an MMS to yourself to test your connection. This will also set up your MMS profile on the Optus Network. 19. For Server address key in http:// mmsc.optus.com. au:8002/ 20. Under Connect via tap Optus MMS Settings 21. Message size limit is 300kb. Do not select anything higher as this is the network limit. You may select a lower amount if you wish. 22. Under WAP version tap WAP 2.0, then tap Done 23. Tap and hold amaysim MMS then tap Set as default 10
