CITIC Telecom CPC OS Installation Guide in SmartCLOUD Director February 2016
This is a quick start guide for user who is totally new to SmartCLOUD Director. In this guide, we will demonstrate 2 ways on how to create a Windows Server 2008 Virtual Machine from Case1. Case2. pre-installed vapp Template Windows ISO media.
Prerequisites Before you login to SmartCLOUD Compute SSL VPN, make sure your system meets the following requirement: Hardware Memory OS Browser Version Core 2 Dual 2GHz CPU or above 4 GB Windows XP/Vista/7 or above operating system Internet Explorer: 7.x / 8.x / 9.x / 10 (9.x / 10 requires enabling compatibility view setting.) Mozilla Firefox: 12.x /13.x Chrome: Not support SSL / TLS Version SSL 3.0 and TLS 1.0 Adobe Flash Player Java v10.2 or later (only 32-bit version is supported) JRE 1.6.0 update 10 or later (only 32-bit version is supported) Not in the range 10.99.0.0/255.255.0.0 Customer IP Address (Direct connection to Internet) Remark: Web browser access doesn t support on Windows 10 with the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge and IE, customer must install the newest version of FortiClient to establish the SSLVPN connection. In order to have a better view of the web page, we need to enable compatibility view setting in IE 9.0 or above, click on Tools -> Compatibility View settings For HK/SG/TW Cloud sites, input citictel-cpc.com and click Add, then Close For CN Cloud sites, input china-entercom.com and click Add, then Close
Setting up Microsoft Internet Explorer options Procedures: 1. In IE, select Tools -> Internet Options 2. Click the Security tab 3. Click the Trusted sites icon and click the button Sites 4. Add below two sites to the trust website list: https://scc.citictel-cpc.com https://scd.citictel-cpc.com 5. Click the Security tab 6. Select the Internet content zone for the Cloud Director server 7. Click Custom Level and select Enable or Prompt for these options: Download signed ActiveX controls Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins Allow META Refresh Allow scripting of Microsoft web browser control, click OK Setting up Mozilla Firefox options: Procedures: 1. In Firefox, select Tools -> Options 2. Click Content and select the Javascript check box 3. Click Privacy 4. In the Firefox will: drop-down menu, select Use custom setting for history 5. Select the Accept cookies from sites, this selection also selects the Accept third-party cookies check box, click OK Login SmartCLOUD Compute SSL VPN Portal Before you navigate to SmartCLOUD Director and create Virtual Machine, you must first login the SmartCLOUD Compute SSL VPN Portal. Please follow the below steps to login SmartCLOUD Compute SSLVPN portal, there are two options you can choose to use: Login using IE/Firefox (only support Windows OS) Please follow steps A1 to A7 Login using Forticlient software (support Windows and Mac OS) Please follow steps B1 to B8
Login using IE/Firefox (only support Windows OS): A1. For SmartCLOUD Compute in Hong Kong/Singapore/Taiwan, go to the SmartCLOUD Compute SSL VPN portal URL: https://scc.citictel-cpc.com/remote/login For SmartCLOUD Compute in China, please use http://scc.chinaentercom.com/remote/login A2. Login to the portal with your login and pre-assigned static password, followed by a one-time password. For customers who use Email Token Please check your email-token enabled mailbox for the token password. First input the user-defined password in the Password box and input the email token password to Email Code box. For customers who use Hardware Token Please click on the button on the hardware token to obtain a one-time password. Email Token Example Email Remark: If this is the first time you use SSL VPN client on this computer, please follow Step A3 and Step A4, otherwise please skip to Step A5.
A3. To install SSL VPN client plugin, click Click here to download and install it (You must have local administrator right to install the program) A4. Click Install to start the installation. (Please close all the Internet browsers before installation)
A5. Open the browser and Login to SmartCloud SSL VPN Portal URL at https://scc.citictel-cpc.com/remote/login for Hong Kong / Singapore / Taiwan https://scc.china-entercom.com/remote/login for China. A6. Click Connect button in Tunnel Mode Widget A7. Link Status should then show as Up. Remark: Leave this page open to keep the SSLVPN session alive, please note that there is a 30-minute inactivity timeout check.
Login using Forticlient (support Windows and MAC OS): Remark: If this is the first time you use SSL VPN client on this computer, please begin from Step B1, otherwise please skip to Step B6. B1. Go to the website http://www.forticlient.com/ and download the Forticlient installer for Mac OS. Double click it to begin installation. B2. Accept the Software License Agreement and click Continue :
B3. Click Install to begin installation and click Close when successfully finished:
B4. Open FortiClient application on the computer, select Remote Access and click Add a new connection :
B5. In Connection Settings, enter the following information and click Apply : Connection Name: Name of the new connection Description: Description of the new connection Remote Gateway: scc.citictel-cpc.com User Name: your SSLVPN login name B6. In FortiClient Application interface, select Remote Access and click Connect :
B7. Enter the token code sent to your Email address and click Continue : B8. Enter the token code sent to your Email address and click Continue, make sure the Status in FortiClient is Connected :
Login SmartCLOUD Director Please follow the below steps to login SmartCLOUD Director and create Virtual Machine. Step 1. Navigate to SmartCLOUD Director URL: For Hong Kong/Singapore/Taiwan: https://scd.citictel-cpc.com/cloud/org/vdc_name For China: https://scd.china-entercom.com/cloud/org/vdc_name Where VDC_Name is the unique name of your organization, type in username and password, click Login. For instance, https://scd.citictel-cpc.com/cloud/org/demouser Step 2. This is the home screen of the SmartCLOUD Director
Case 1. From pre-installed vapp Template Step 1. Select Catalogs, select Public Catalogs from the left hand side and you ll see the screen below. Step 2. Click on Public ISOs & vapp Template-XXXXX Where XXXXX is the location of the Cloud site. Right click on the vapp Template you d like to install and select Add to My Cloud.
Step 3. Name the vapp, Click Next: Step 4. Configure the VM like Computer Name and Network, Click Next.
Step 5. Click Finish. Step 6. The VM Template is now being copied to your Organization vdc. Wait a few minutes.
Step 7. Click on VMs on the left hand pane, the VM is now ready to serve! Step 8. For Windows 2008 template, a new password will be assigned during the first boot. Once the new password is set, please turn off the VM, go to the properties of the VM and disable guest OS customization.
For CentOS Linux template, use default administrative credential username as root and password as P@ssword. Password reset will be enforced at the first login. Case 2. From Windows ISO media Step 1. Select Catalogs, click on Step 2. Give the Catalog a name, Next
Step 3. Click Next Step 4. Click Finish
Step 5. A new Catalog has been created Step 6. Select Media tab
Step 7. Select Public Catalogs Step 8. Select the ISO to be imported to your own media Catalog
Step 9. Right click and select Copy to Catalog Step 10. Give the media a Name, click OK
Step 11. Wait until the ISO file has been successfully copied. Step 12. If the ISO file you need is not listed in Public Catalogs, you can upload it yourself. Select the Media tab and click Step 13. Select the ISO file on your machine to upload, give the media name and click Upload. (If no response after click browser, see Step 13(a). Solve Upload Media Issue)
Step 13(a). Solve Upload Media Issue (Skip if functionality of Upload Media Files is normal) 1. Click Start, Control Panel and Programs, then Click Java. 2. At Java Control Panel, click Security, check Enable Java content in the browser, drag Security Level to Medium. 3. Re-login the Management Console, click browser again and wait for a while, click Run when prompt up Java application, click Allow and Don t Block when prompt up Security Warning. Then Media Files can be uploaded normally.
4. If still no response, repeat Step 1, then Click Advanced. 5. Check Enable tracing, Enable logging, Show applet lifecycle exceptions and Show console, then click OK.
6. Re-login the Management Console, click browser again and wait for a while, Java Console prompt up, Copy all content to notepad and send it to CPC for further investigation. Remark*: If you are still having problem to upload the media, please call CPC 7x24 CS hotline 852-23318930, CPC will help upload your media through FTP server. Step 14. Step 15. Wait until the ISO file has been successfully uploaded. Click on My Cloud -> vapps -> Click on Step 16. Give the vapp a Name and Description (optional)
Step 17. Click on New Virtual Machine
Step 18. Give the virtual machine Full Name and Computer Name, select OS and version from the pull down menu, and assign CPU/Memory/Storage/Network resource to the VM
Step 19. Click Next Step 20. Assign Network to Network Interface Card that you defined in previous step
Step 21. Click Next Step 22. Click Finish
Step 23. Please wait while the VM is being created and prepared Step 24. Creation completed
Step 25. Click on My Cloud > VMs Step 26. Right click on the VM and select Insert CD/DVD
Step 27. Select the ISO from the Catalog Step 28. Please wait until the media is mounted to the VM
Step 29. CD/DVD media is mounted Step 30. Right click on the VM and select Power On
Step 31. Please wait for the VM to be powered on Step 32. The VM is powered on
Step 33. Select the virtual machine, right click and select Pop out Console Remark: If this is the first time you open VM console in this computer, you need to download and install the VMRC plug-in. Make sure you have local administrator right on this computer.
Step 34. After install the VMRC, you should be able to see the virtual machine console End
