System Descriptin Avtrn Mdel K899 Perfrmance View - ADDvantage - Hardware Manual SECTION II SYSTEM DESCRIPTION 2.1 COLLECTOR/SERVER Data acquisitin is managed by the Perfrmance View TM Cllectr/Server. The primary respnsibility f the Cllectr/Server statin is t cllect and stre data frm the cnnected devices and prvide the data t the viewer statins. 2.1.1 PC The Cllectr/Server PC cnfiguratin typically includes tw CPUs, 1 GB RAM, six high-speed disk drives (10K RPM) in a RAID cnfiguratin, a flppy disk drive, readable CD ROM, and scanners fr data cllectin. Tw hard-drives are used t stre the system perating sftware and event cllectin set-up data. A special Linux perating system prvides real-time enhancement. Fur (r mre) hard drives are used t stre real-time data and event histry. The fllwing minimum requirements must be met: (Qty. 2) 2.0 GHz CPU, 400 MHz FSB, 512 L2 Cache 1GB DDR Ram (Qty. 2) 18GB, 10,000 RPM SCSI hard drive (Qty. 4) 36GB, 10,000 RPM SCSI hard drive Readable CD ROM drive 3.25 flppy disk drive 56 KB Internal Phne Mdem 10/100T Netwrk Interface Card (Qty. 5) PCI-X expansin slts 10/100/1000T Embedded Netwrk Interface Card 19 Rack munt frm factr, 5U height, with rails fr server rack (fr rack munt cnfiguratin nly) 2.1.2 UPS SYSTEM The Uninterruptible Pwer Supply (UPS) is a device that sits between a pwer supply (e.g. a wall utlet) and a device (e.g. a cmputer) t prevent undesired characteristics f the pwer supply (utages, sags, surges, bad harmnics, etc.) frm the supply frm adversely affecting the perfrmance f the device. The UPS system used fr this system can be rack muntable r desktp based n cnfiguratin f system, have 2000VA/1600W minimum utput capacity, and supprt serial cnnectin t the hst cmputer. A 20 Amp, 110 VAC electrical utlet is required fr the UPS (Uninterruptible Pwer Supply) system. 2-1
System Descriptin Avtrn Mdel K899 Perfrmance View - ADDvantage - Hardware Manual The UPS system is als used t intelligently shut dwn the Cllectr/Server and Viewer in such a way as nt t crrupt any f the database files.
