SERVICING TEXAS NEXT MEGA-REGION With the ongoing development of the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio, these two major cities are primed to join together and create the next mega-region in Texas. It is projected that the population of this thirteen-county corridor will increase nearly 34% by 2030, from 4.27 million people to 5.71 million. This growth is justifying the need for large distribution and manufacturing centers that will have the capacity to service the region. Hays Commerce Center, a mixed-used development located in Hays County, is set to provide distributors and manufacturers the ideal real estate to efficiently service the entire region. HAYS COUNTY AND THE CITY OF KYLE At the front and center of the corridor s growth is Hays County, one of the nation s fastest growing counties which has seen it s economy grow exponentially in recent years. Within this county is the City of Kyle, whose favorable business economy is attracting new businesses to the area every year. It is no longer San Antonio vs. Austin but San Antonio and Austin. -San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor In the next 50 years, Austin and San Antonio will become a single mega-metro area. -Austin Mayor Steve Adler The City of Kyle sits just seven miles south of Austin, and thirty-nine miles north of San Antonio. As the second largest city in Hays County, Kyle has been at the fore-front of commercial and residential growth in the county. Being highly-receptive to responsible commercial growth, the city has already began seeing a massive investment and commitment from commercial businesses and developers. With its continually growing, affordable workforce, its affordable cost of doing business, and its expanding utility and highway infrastructure, the City of Kyle is enticing commercial businesses looking to capitalize on the city s strong economic advantages. 3
GROWING EDUCATION Being positioned near San Marcos and Austin, the city has access to over 80,000 student-workers from nearby colleges and universities including Texas State University, St. Edwards University, and The University of Texas at Austin. In 2014 Austin Community College opened a campus in Kyle, helping the city add to its high-skilled workforce. In addition, ACC has begun planning the development of a First Responder Training Facility to continue the city s growth in the medical sector. BOOMING MEDICAL SECTOR In recent years, Kyle s medical sector has significantly grown; expanding from one primary care physician to becoming a magnet for specialty care in the region. In the past seven years almost one million squarefeet of medical facilities have been constructed. This includes the completion of Seton Medical Center Hays, a pivotal step forward in establishing a prominent medical sector.
