Hardware Announcement August 7, 2006 IBM xseries 306m Server New ordering system Overview You can now order IBM System x servers, BladeCenter blades, and IntelliStation workstations using a new and improved ordering system. Previously, system models and options could be ordered by part number only. Once defined, these part numbers were preconfigured and allowed no further configuration. For consistency, the new system retains the concept of the part number using a Single Entity Offering (SEO). As an added convenience, the SEOs for systems and options represent the same configuration as current part numbers. For example, if the system or option you have been ordering was part number 3456712, then the SEO number under the new system will also be 3456712. In addition, you can configure and order a system with the exact set of features, functions, and options you need. To accomplish this, the products are represented as type-model-feature (TMF), consistent with many other IBM systems. Configurators can help you define your system to your unique requirements. They generate all of the information you need to enter in the ordering system. Availability date At a glance The new ordering system for IBM System x servers, BladeCenter blades, and IntelliStation workstations features these benefits: Machines are configurable to order. Configurators aid in the definition and generation of orders. Single Entity Offerings (SEOs) provide continuity in ordering these products. For ordering, contact: Your IBM representative, an IBM Business Partner, or the Americas Call Centers at 800-IBM-CALL Reference: SE001 August 7, 2006 This announcement is provided for your information only.
