Laser scanner from the scancontrol series record, measure and evaluate profiles on a variety of different target surfaces. With its scancontrol series, Micro-Epsilon offers everything from preconfigured sensors to complex measuring systems from a single source. The measuring principle Laser scanner from Micro-Epsilon - often referred to as profile sensors - use the laser triangulation principle for two-dimensional profile detection on different target surfaces. By using special lenses, a laser beam is enlarged to form a static laser line and is projected onto the target surface. A high quality optical system projects the diffusely reflected light of this laser line onto a highly sensitive sensor matrix. In addition to distance information (z-axis), the controller also uses this camera image to calculate the position along the laser line (x-axis). These measured values are then output in a two-dimensional coordinate system that is fixed with respect to the sensor. In the case of moving objects or a traversing sensor, it is therefore possible to obtain 3D measurement values. The outstanding characteristics of this wavelength range enable measurements that to date have been difficult to carry out using red laser scanners. Its advantages can be seen particularly well on red hot glowing metals, (semi-) transparent and organic materials. scancontrol is available in three classes: Compact The scancontrol 29/BL sensors are the perfect choice for both static and and dynamic measurement tasks. The compact sensors offer a profile frequency of up to 2Hz and act as profile data provider. Extremely compact design The design of the scancontrol 29x series is focussed on minimal size and low weight. All available measuring ranges have the same sensor size. This makes switching the measuring range as easy as never before. The entire electronics was integrated inside of the sensor head in order to reduce cabling and to facilitate mechanical integration as well as using the sensor in robot-based applications. Power over Ethernet The scanners can be supplied via Ethernet (Power over Ethernet). If Industrial Ethernet is used as data connection to the sensor only one cable will remain that connects the sensor to the periphery. Multi-function port The multi-function port can be used for power supply, as data output, for switching parameters, as trigger input or for synchronizing several scancontrol sensors. This port makes the scanner very flexible. Highspeed The scancontrol 295/BL sensors offer everything for advanced highspeed and 3D applications. A profile frequency of up 2,Hz can be acquired using these sensors. They serve as well as pure profile data provider. Smart The SMART series scancontrol 291/BL offer a Plug & Play solution with integrated controller for simple to complex measurement tasks. The sensor structure is identical to the compact and high-speed classes. The scanner evaluates recorded profiles and outputs the measurement values. Flexible measurement value output There are different options for output of measurement values: Ethernet (UDP, Modbus), serial RS422 (ASCII, Modbus) with output unit as analogue signals or digital switch signal. Multi-scanner applications The scancontrol 29x multi-function port provides the possibility to operate several sensors synchronously. If two laser lines overlap, a special mode can be used to operate them alternately. One scanner is measuring while the laser line of the other one is turned off.
