Chapter 1 Simple Machines Body A. Sketch. Step 1. Click File Menu > New, click Part and OK. Step 2. Click Right Plane in the Feature Manager and click Sketch on the context toolbar, Fig. 1. Step 3. Click Line (L) on the Sketch toolbar. Step 4. Start at Origin and sketch the 8 lines, Fig. 2. Fig. 1 Step 5. Click Smart Dimension (S) on the Sketch toolbar. Step 6. Add dimensions, Fig. 3. B. Save as "BODY". Step 1. Click File Menu > Save As. Step 2. Key-in BODY for filename and press ENTER. C. Sketch Fillet. Step 1. Click Sketch Fillet (S) on the Sketch toolbar. Step 2. In the Sketch Fillet Property Manager set: under Fillet Parameters, Fig. 4 Radius.2 click the 5 corners, Fig. 5 click OK twice. Step 3. Click Features Fig. 5 on the Command Manager toolbar. Step 4. Click Extruded Boss/ Fig. 4 Base on the Features toolbar. Fig. 6 Step 5. In the Boss-Extrude Property Manager set: under Direction 1, Fig. 7 End Condition Mid Plane Depth 1.5 Step 6. Save. D. Axle Holes. Step 1. Click Right Plane in the Feature Manager and click Sketch on the context toolbar, Fig. 9. Step 2. Click Normal To on the View toolbar. (Ctrl-8) Step 3. Click Circle toolbar. E. Cut Bed. Step 1. Click the top face of Truck bed and click Sketch on the context toolbar, Fig. 14. Top face truck bed Step 2. Click Offset Entities on the Sketch toolbar. Step 3. In the Offset Entities Property Manager set: under Parameters, Fig. 15 Distance.05 check Reverse top face of Truck bed should be selected, Fig. 16 The yellow offset should be inside the Truck bed. F. Side Windows. Step 1. Click side face of Truck and click Sketch context toolbar, Fig. 19. on the Step 2. Click Normal To on the Views toolbar (Ctrl-8). Step 3. Press Escape key to unselect the face. Side face Step 4. Click Offset Entities on the Sketch toolbar. Step 5. In the Offset Entities Property Manager set: under Parameters, Fig. 20 Fig. 19 Distance.1 check Reverse click the 5 edges around Truck cab, Fig. 21. H. Windshield. Step 1. Click the face of windshield and click Sketch the context toolbar, Fig. 28. on Windshield Step 2. Click Offset Entities on the Sketch toolbar. Step 3. In the Offset Entities Property Manager set: under Parameters, Fig. 29 Side face Distance.07 check Reverse the face of front windshield should be selected, Fig. 30. K. Appearance. Step 1. Click the Body to select part, click Appearances Click part Callout on the context toolbar and click BODY, Fig. 40. Step 2. In the Appearances Task pane, expand Painted, click Car and in the lower pane select white, Fig. 41. Step 3. In the Appearances Property Manager under Color, Fig. 42 set RGB values: R 79 G 149 B 255 Click Keep Visible and OK, Fig. 42. The Push Pin on allows selection of another appearance for windows. Step 4. In the Appearances Property Manager, under Selected Geometry, Fig. 44 click Select Faces click window and windshield, Fig. 45. Then rotate view to select right side window, hold down middle mouse button (wheel) and drag to rotate view, Fig. 46. Select window on right side, Fig. 46. Click Advanced button at top of Property Manager, Fig. 47. Fig. 45 Click Illumination tab. Set Transparency amount.50. Click OK and Cancel. Step 5. Save. Use Ctrl-S.
