How to Apply for a Teaching Position as an Internal Applicant I. Website Navigation Internal applicants include all GCSD employees who currently hold a position for which certification/licensure is required. In order to apply as an internal applicant from the Greenville County Schools website, click on the Employment tab and choose How to Apply. Please note you MUST be on a district network and using a district computer to apply. On the How to Apply screen, please take time to read this important information, then click on Apply for Teacher Positions. From the Application Procedures for Teacher Candidates page, review the information provided on the page. Select Application Instruction Guide to view and print the instructions for the online application process. II. Employee Space When you access Employee Space you may receive the following Sign In prompt. Click on the drop down list, select adfs.greenville.k12.sc.us and click Continue to Sign In. The following GCS Login will display, login using the user name portion of your email address as the Username and your GCS network password as the Password. Updated 4/9/2018 Page 2 of 8
III. My Profile Once you are logged in, click on the Edit Profile icon shown below to review and update your profile. Click on the Talent Profile tab on the left. Note the Competencies, Skills and Achievements tabs are not utilized, please omit those sections. The Certificates and References sections are not required for Internal Applicants. By applying as an Internal Candidate, your current supervisor will receive a link to complete a reference for you that will be returned to us electronically. Updated 4/9/2018 Page 3 of 8
III. My Profile From the Talent Profile tab, you may review and update the Education and Employment History sections. Click on the triangle on the right and select Create or Change as shown below. When you are finished, click Save located on the left at the top of the page. Once you save the profile updates, this will follow any application that is submitted. IV. Applying for Jobs To apply for open positions, click on the Opportunities icon shown below. All positions posted for internal employees will display. You may search for Jobs by entering a Keyword, Job ID/Requisition#, Location, Category or Work Type. To see all teacher openings, click on the magnifying glass in the Category field, select Teaching Position Category and click Search. IV. Applying for Jobs Click Apply Now to proceed with the application. The application will guide you through a series of pages (Profile, Resume, Questions, Summary) to complete before you submit your application on the final page. IV. Applying for Jobs On the Resume tab, click Attach to add documents. A resume is a required attachment. Only WORD and PDF documents are supported. To attach a document, select the arrow in the Type of Document field and choose a document type from the list. Click the folder in the Document field to locate the document on your computer. Select OK to add the attachment. The added attachment will display in the list as shown below. Select Next at the bottom to proceed. Updated 4/9/2018 Page 7 of 8
V. Applying for Jobs On the Questions tab, answer all application questions and click Next at the bottom of the page. All questions must be answered before continuing. The Summary screen will display allowing you to Review Application and Submit Application. When your application is complete, select Submit Application. When your application is submitted successfully, you will receive the following message, Submit Job Application Internal Completed Successfully at the top of the page. Please check your email for an automated message from the Human Resources Department indicating that your application was received as well as any additional emails that may require your attention and action. Communications with Principals All applicants must have a completed profile and application on file before you will be considered for employment and/or transfer. Once you have completed the online profile and application, you are encouraged to send a letter of interest and copy of your resume to the principals of the schools with posted vacancies using the contact email link provided on the Teacher Positions page of the website. For additional information about the school, click Schools on the homepage of the website, find the name of the school and click on the school name to be directed to the school website. Communications with Recruitment Specialist Once your application is complete, you may contact Human Resources to speak with a Recruitment Specialist if you need additional information.
