9. FAQ & GENERAL TIPS LOGIN ISSUES If you experience any problems logging into your site or have not received your password and username after being assigned admin rights please try the below solution before contacting Diabetes UK. If you already have your login details then there s nothing you need to do, however please keep these details in case you need them in the future. If you have not been supplied your login details or are unable to log in to your group admin panel then please take the following steps: 1. Follow this link http://diabetesukgroup.org/resetting/request 2. Enter your email address to be sent a password reset email 3. Follow the instructions in the password reset email 4. You will be able to log in with the new password you have set and your username which is [name of group][your first name] all as one word and all lowercase. If the group has a two part name i.e. Aylesbury Vale, the username would read as aylesbury[name] UPLOADING AND STORING PDF s When checking out your new sites and adding content of your own you may notice that some links to PDF s you had hosted on your previous sites don t work. This is because the Vuture sites they were hosted on no longer exists as they closed down their servers. Currently the Nonsense templates do not have the ability to host PDF s themselves. However, it is an issue we are aware of and are hoping to implement in the coming months to improve your experience and the functionality of the new sites. In the mean time you can still link to PDF s as you would before by inserting the link into a body of text, as long as the PDF exists somewhere on the internet. A good interim solution for this is to do a google search for PDF hosting there are a lot of sites out there that allow you to host PDF s publically or privately and often for free. We recommend spending a moment to find one that will work for you and use that to host your PDF s so that you can offer a quick and easy link to it on your group site. You may also wish to create a free Blogspot or Wordpress page to upload PDF s to,
you can then link to them from the group site. It is a roundabout way to convey the information, but there are lots of free blogging sites which would help to facilitate this as an option. UPLOADING IMAGES When uploading images to the new templates you will want to be careful about the file size that you use. The websites can handle images up to 4MB, however, you will want to keep this number down to avoid slow loading images on your site. Here are a couple of easy ways to make sure your images aren t too big: You can do this online at the website - http://apps.pixlr.com/editor/ - simply load an image from your computer then change the constraint proportions in the top left tool bar to output size. Change the width and height in pixels to the numbers specified on the group sites or a little bigger if you want and then save. Voila, your images are now a safe size to upload to the new sites Or you can open your image in paint, which should be installed by default on most computers, select resize. Specify pixels as the measurement you wish to edit and then enter the width and height to a reasonable size like above simple, your good to go. If you are getting access to your site a little later than the writing of this FAQ then some of these issues may already be fixed. So disregard this information if you don t encounter any of these problems.
