OneDrive on your ipad Microsoft Office 365 is the new messaging and storage solution for the City of Edinburgh educational establishments. Office 365 is a cloud based suite of tools which allows collaboration and provides a considerable increase in storage space. Office 365 has many features. Available now - Outlook, Calendar, OneDrive, Office Online, Skype for Business, Sites Office Online Includes Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote Online Edit and create files using a browser Open and edit files created in Office Share files with customers and your team 25 25 GB storage per user in OneDrive Build and publish a website for your business 1
1. OneDrive on the Web (staff & pupils) As part of Office 365, every user has a file storage area in the cloud called OneDrive. You can access OneDrive on a range of devices using a web browser, you may need to log in if you are not on a school computer. (http://office365.edin.org) Click on the App Launcher and choose OneDrive Documents shared with you 2
To copy a file directly from the desktop, drag it here until you get the Drop here... message 2. OneDrive on Your PC (optional, staff only) OneDrive can also synchronise with a folder on your school computer. This allows you to access your OneDrive files directly from a local folder rather than through a web browser. Please note, this is only available for staff as allowing pupils to synchronise their files to multiple computers in this way could adversely affect network performance. Access OneDrive through a web browser. Click on SYNC Then click Sync now 3
OneDrive on Your PC continued If using Firefox: Make sure OneDrive for Business is highlighted and click OK Click Sync Now You should see this happening 4
Click Show my files You now have the OneDrive folder on your hard drive 5
Right click on the Favourites star, then click Add current location to Favourites OneDrive on Your PC continued The next time you try to save a file to OneDrive, make sure that you select OneDrive The City of Edinburgh Council. The click on Browse. 6
Your files will be automatically saved to your OneDrive. You can see new files in your browser version of OneDrive as they have a green symbol next to them 3. OneDrive on Your ipad (staff & pupils) You can access your Office 365 OneDrive files on your ipad using the OneDrive app, which available free to download. You will need to sign into the OneDrive app the first time you open it. For staff: your username is payrollnumber@ea.edin.sch.uk, eg 9034568@ea.edin.sch.uk For pupils: your username is SCN@ea.edin.sch.uk, eg 062755164@ea.edin.sch.uk 7
OneDrive on Your ipad continued On the next screen log into 365 with the same credentials that you use to log into a school Desktop or Laptop. 8
OneDrive on Your ipad continued Once you have signed into the app, you will see all your files and folders. Press the 3 dots at the top right to create a folder, add photos/video or add files on your ipad from Choose Existing. 9
OneDrive on Your ipad continued Move Files into a folder Tap the Ellipsis ( ) and choose Select Items. Tick the radio button next to the item(s) that you want to move. Select the folder icon, tap the desired folder then tap Move 10
