Overview Software subscription and upgrades as well as remote technical support, known as Software Maintenance (SWMA), are added for Licensed Program Products (LPPs) through the IBM Service Suite or ESA contracts. This lets you integrate hardware and software in one contract. SWMA for these additional LPPs is also available on its own. SWMA is available for all products running on Power System I and System p, including the operating systems ios (formerly known as AS400 and i5 OS) and AIX as well as their accompanying Licensed Product Programs (LPPs) as listed on IBM Supported Product List https://www-03preview.ibm.com/services/supline/products/ipseries.html SWMA always consists of the support and the subscription component. Key prerequisites Software Maintenance for AIX Operating System is a prerequisite to the AIX LPPs, Software Maintenance for i5/os Operating System is a prerequisite to the i5/os LPPs and Software Maintenance for Linux Operating System is a prerequisite to the Linux LPPs. (A stand-alone SWMA is also available). If you renew after the expiry of the SWMA, a After Licence Charge may be incurred. In addition, if renewed with the SWMA ESSU and ESA offering in CHIS, you have the possibility to consolidate multiple systems with multi-year options in a single combined rolling contract.
