Page 2 of 10 IMPORTANT Verify whether the vehicle is K Line Flash or CAN Flash. Refer to the Reprogramming System Identification chart on the Service Tech Resources page on the Mitsubishi Dealer Link. The procedure for PCM reprogramming on CAN Flash vehicles is different than K Line Flash vehicles. Be sure to follow the correct reprogramming instructions for the vehicle being repaired. 1. Check the underside of the hood to verify that there is no label previously installed to indicate that this TSB reprogramming has already been done. 2. Using the MUT III, verify that the vehicle s part number is listed in the table in Step 9. If the Software is the same as or higher than the Software in the table, the PCM has already been reprogrammed for this concern. Do not continue with this bulletin procedure. Refer to Group 13 in the appropriate service manual to diagnose the DTC. 3. Use the MUT III to erase all DTCs set in the PCM. 4. MEDIC II ONLY. Verify that your MEDIC II is at download M121 or higher. NOTE: Dealers using MEDIC II will not receive a reflash CD. The reflash data will be sent electronically. DOWNLOAD NUMBER a. If the download is M121 or higher, go to step 6. b. If the download version is less than M121, force a download to the MEDIC II as follows: a. On the MEDIC II main screen, click on Maintenance. Page 7 of 10 CAUTION DO NOT DISTURB THE HARNESS CABLES OR CONNECTIONS. INTERRUPTION DURING THE PROGRAMMING PROCESS COULD CAUSE THE PCM TO LOSE DATA OR PREVENT FUTURE PCM REPROGRAMMING. If the message at Current Level of VCI appears, the PCM did not reprogram. Verify that the ROM ID is the same as the ROM ID listed in the table in Step 9. If the ROM ID is the same or higher than the ROM ID in the table, the PCM has already been reprogrammed for this concern. Do not continue with this reprogramming procedure. If it is not, verify that the correct database update is in the MUT III. Verify the correct database was transferred to the memory card, and that the memory card is properly installed in the VCI. 9.
