Everything You Wanted to Know About Industry Certifications {But Were Afraid To Ask} 12.14.17
Question: How much bonus funding is earned? This is approximately how much is earned for 0.1 = $332.86 0.2 = $665.72 0.025 = 104.00 EXAMPLE: 50 students earn the MICRO069 industry certification @ 0.2 FTE. How much bonus FTE is generated for these certifications?
Question: How do I know how much money is spent per year on Industry Cert s? Schools receive Industry Certification funds under the 3069 line item in their budget. Industry Certification expenditures (Certiport, LearnKey, ACA TestPrep, GMetrix, etc.) are paid for out of this account; amounts are moved from 3069 to a district account. There was a change from last years payment method (explanation) Teacher bonus allotment for FY17 payout ($no bonus cap) - your data must be accurate
Question: How do I know how much money is spent per year on Industry Cert s? Using example from Slide 2, your school earned $33,286 between 5 teachers who each administered 10 IC s Each teacher earns $500 (teacher bonus) = $2500 Each school also pays a yearly subscription for LearnKey, Microsoft Imagine Academy, GMetrix and ACA TestPrep plus their annual allotment of Certiport exam packs.
Question: How do I know what to reserve for future expenditures/the coming year? Jim Politis would say. A good strategy is to look at what you spent the previous year and add 20%. It is important to stay abreast of what you spend each year, both on exams and test prep resources, to help plan for upcoming years.
Question: Which Industry Certifications generate bonus funding? Industry Certifications that generate bonus funding (for teachers and programs) are those that appear on the current year s CAPE Industry Certification Funding List. Funding is only generated for registered Career Themed Courses. Rejected courses are not registered and will not generate bonus FTE. For non-funded ICs, you must still report them to the state (i.e. early childhood certifications) [http://fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/8904/urlt/1617icfl-sbe.pdf]
Question: What are the testing procedures? Each certification company has different procedures. Please contact: Certiport CIW Medical Family & Cons Sci Anthony Asci Jim Politis Moise Derosier Anthony Asci Dr. Miguel Benavente Junnell Hughes 3 Test Rule: Students may attempt an IC only 3 times per academic year. 20 Calendar Day Rule: Test attempts must be separated by at least 20 calendar days. (You may test on the same day 3 weeks later). Proctor Rule: The teacher of record cannot be the proctor for their students CIW test. Another SDPBC employee needs to become a CIW Proctor in order to administer the test. The teacher of record may be in the room to assist with classroom management and technical issues, but may not be the assigned proctor for the test.

Question: What can I purchase with IC funds? State Q & A with guidelines on what can be purchased using bonus FTE (industry certification funding). See Bulletin #SP 16-280 CFO from April 8, 2016 Funds must be used to supplement, not supplant! IC bonus funds can not be used as a substitute for Regular FEFP (FTE) must be used for CTE programs Pay close detailed attention to what IC money is being used for. Remember we have an upcoming state audit in March. During on-site school visits you may be asked how IC money was spent and show proof. http://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/8904/urlt/1516-qa- IndustryCertificationAdditional-FTE-Membership.pdf
