1. Question: We don t have generic teacher accounts for some of our grade levels. What should we do? Answer: You can create a generic account for each grade level. In order to do so: Click this link: https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/snpapp/login/psnlandingpage.jsp?showlandingpag e=true Under the New Users section, click the Register Here button. Under the Teachers area, click the Register button. The Create an Account window will appear. Enter your email and start to type the name of your school in the School area of the window. A list of schools will appear, select your school. At the bottom of the window, click the Request button. 1
A school code will be sent to your email account. Look for an email with the subject line of Your Pearson Education School Code. Open the email and copy the code from the email. Click the COMPLETE REGITRATION NOW link within the email. The Create an Account wizard will appear. There are four steps to create a new account: School Code, Personal Information, Account Information, and Review. For the School Code step, paste the code from the email you received into the School Code area and enter the school name. Click the Next button. 2
For the Personal Information step, enter a First and Last Name. It is suggested that you enter a generic name such as Grade2 and Teacher as shown here. Enter your email. Click the Next button. For the Account Information step, enter the preferred user ID and password. It is suggested that user IDs at a school follow a simple pattern such as mbes02 for Middleborough Elementary School Grade 2. Consider using the school initials, school number, and/or grade level. Consider using consistent naming for all accounts. Consider using the same password for all generic teacher accounts. Click the Next button. The Review window will appear. This means that the account has been created. A Pearson Account Confirmation email will be sent to the email address entered in the process. 3
2. Question: I ve got the new account generic account. What s next? Answer: Log in to the new generic account with the user ID and password you created. Click this link: https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/snpapp/login/psnlandingpage.jsp?showlandingpag e=true The first time you use a new account, a Sign In window will appear. Scroll through the window and click the box next to I agree to the license agreement. Click the Next button. The Welcome to SuccessNet window will appear. Click the Add Products button. The Manage Products window will appear. Select the products for the grade level. Click the Save button. 4
3. Question: What if I need to add new products or if I neglected to add a product I meant to add when I created this account? Do I still need special codes? Answer: No, codes are no longer needed to access the products for SFAW or Investigations. Follow the steps below to add additional products to your account: From the top navigation bar, click the small triangle next to silhouette of a person. A dropdown menu will appear. Select My Account. The My Account window will appear. In the My Products area, click the Manage Products button. Make selections and click the Save button. Note: Changes can be made to the My Profile information such as user ID and password by clicking the Edit profile button. 5
4. Question: Are there additional Investigations products available in SuccessNet for primary teachers? Answer: Yes, the Investigations Interactive Whiteboard, Student Activity Book, and Curriculum Units are now available through SuccessNet for primary teachers. For instructions on how to add additional products to the teacher home page, see Question 3 of this FAQ document. 5. Question: We are sharing generic user IDs but we cannot locate the passwords what should we do? Answer: Have one teacher login as the school administrator to change the user IDs and passwords. From the School Data menu and select Manage people. 6
The Manage people screen will appear. (See screen shot below.) Select your school from the School dropdown menu. Select Teacher from the Role dropdown menu. Click the Search button. The information, including user IDs, for all teacher accounts will appear. Click on the User name link to make changes to a specific account. The Profile details window will appear. Change the information as desired and click the Save Profile button. Consider creating generic User IDs and passwords for all grade levels. Share the new information will all of the teachers. 6. Question: No one at our school has an administrative account? What should we do? Answer: You can create new generic administrative account to be shared by principal appointed teachers. The administrative account will allow the user to view and modify the generic teacher accounts. In order create a generic account, click the link and follow the instructions listed below: https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/snpapp/login/psnlandingpage.jsp?showlandingpage=true Under New Users, click the Register Here button. Under Administrators, click the Register button. Click the Start here link Click the Use this Form link. The Administrator Request for Curriculum Platforms window will appear. In the Type of Administrator Accounts dropdown menu, select School Admin. Click the Continue button. A new window will appear, enter the required Contact and Principal Information. In 3 5 days an email will be sent to the email address entered in the process. This email will contain administrator log in information. 7
7. Question: Can we upload our students for the 14 15 school year yet? Answer: No, please wait for further instructions. Teachers may create a generic user ID and password for students to use until the upload for 14 15 can occur. 8
