2 BEFORE YOU START I DON T HAVE A LOGIN OR PASSWORD If you haven t set your password yet, then you will need to follow the instructions and link that was sent to you by the Northcross Administrator or send an to reporthelp@northcross.nsw.edu.au requesting this to be resent. I HAVE MY LOGIN & PASSWORD If you know your login and password from accessing your child s online reports last year then you can follow the below instructions. DOWNLOADING THE NORTHCROSS SCHOOL APP The school app is available for Apple and Android devices only. 1. Navigate to App Store or Google Play and search for the app using Northcross Christian School 2. Select 'Allow' notifications when prompted by the app. (This will allow the school to send you push notifications through the school app) 3. Click onto the Login button and use your School report login to sign into the app. Logging in enables you to access your child s details, school calendar, send messages to teachers and access to notifications from the school.

3 NAVIGATING THROUGH THE NORTHCROSS SCHOOL APP School Info: Directory: Calendar: Links: Maps: Contacts: My Profile: My Portal: You will find our school address here and a welcome message from our Principal Names of current staff members School calendar dates and events. Please click on the calendar day to see events for the day. A pop up window will show all events on the day selected. Includes links to relevant school forms and documents and a direct link to the Spider Parents Portal This shows the school location on Google maps School postal address, phone, fax and detail. Also includes an area to send a general message to the Northcross School Office. Shows your log in details My Kids: Shows your child s class and teacher information Absences: Gives you a snap shot view of your child s absences and the ability to message the school regarding absences Notifications: View alerts sent by the school (push notifications) and any communications you have sent to the school via the app News: School news and newsletter links can be found here

4 STEP BY STEP CONTACTS (PUBLIC VIEW): Below the School postal and phone details area there is a Contact us template where a general message can be sent to the office. Please note that messages sent through this area should not be of an urgent nature. Enter: Name of sender; address of sender and message. Submit.

5 MY PORTAL (LOGIN ACCESS ONLY): Your family login for Spider on the School App and Website has been pasted in your child s diary. For families who have been with the school since 2016 please note that the login and password you have used to access the online School reports is the same login you use for the School App.

6 MY PORTAL - MY KIDS If you have more than 1 child, you will have to select them via a drop down menu. Here you will find your child s: Name, Current Year, Birth Date, Age, Teacher s name and their Stage Co-ordinator. If you click below these details onto Subject you see a list of your child s subjects and their teacher s names. You can directly message your child s teachers from this area by clicking the envelope symbol. Please note: Messages sent to your child s teacher should not be urgent or require an immediate answer as they may not be checked until the end of the school day. The preferred mode of communication to the teacher is via .

7 MY PORTAL - ABSENCES If you have more than 1 child, you will have to select them via a drop down menu first before you hit the SEARCH button. You can see a list here of your child s absences as recorded on their class roll. Each entry will have a related code; the codes are used for reporting purposes: L = Leave (away from school)? = unexplained absence Create an absence notification: Now that we have the School App, the School s preferred method of receiving absence notification from parents is listed below: Use the Create an absence notification via the School App Send an about your child s absence to admin@northcross.nsw.edu.au and copy in your child s teacher Click this link and you can send a message directly to the Northcross Office to advise of a child s absence. This should be done on the day of the absence before 10am. First select your child s name from the drop down menu at the top of the page before sending the absence notification. If your child is going to be absent for a day in the future, you can select a future date by clicking the Month and scrolling ahead to find the right date.

8 MY PORTAL - NEWS: Click this to find links to the latest news posts. The newsletter links will take you to the Northcross parents portal where you will be able to view the full newsletter. To access the parent s portal on the Northcross website you will need to use the following: Login: parents Password: playground

9 MY PORTAL - NOTIFICATIONS: Notifications have you switched it on? If the school sends you a message you will get a notification on your phone that will take you to this area. Below is what a push notification will look like on a Iphone and Samsung Alerts can be about: 1. School activities 2. Reminders about events coming up or important school news 3. Your child's absence from school. You can then go into the Absences tab and reply to the school to provide a reason for the absence. (see above) Click on Alert to read Alerts sent by the school Click on Absence to read Absence notifications sent by the school and messages you have sent the school via absence notification Click on Communications to read all other messages you have sent to the school via the app

10 CALENDAR (LOGIN ACCESS ONLY) Click on a calendar day highlighted in red to see what events are happening at the school A pop up will appear with details, click Exit

11 LINKS (LOGIN ACCESS ONLY) As you will be logged on to access the Links section, when you click on the PCSchool Spider link it will take you directly to your personal spider log in webpage. Here you can locate the school calendar and document manager. In document manager you can find student online reports and school invoices/receipts. Clicking on the school forms and documents link will take you to this page on the school website.

12 FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD? Your family login for Spider on the School App and Website has been pasted in your child s diary. For families who have been with the school since 2016 please note that the login and password you have used to access the online School reports is the same login you use for the School App. Go to

13 BEFORE YOU SEND AN TO REPORTHELP Before you send an to please try the other channels school website or spider portal. Examples include: If the links are down on the School App you can access them through the School Website parents portal or the Spider parent portal If the absence notifications doesn t work please send an to admin@northcross.nsw.edu.au and cc your child s classroom teacher. If you can t view reports through School App you can still go through the Spider Portal to view it. Please do not /call the front office team with your queries they will be unable to help you. All inquiries, questions and feedback regarding the School App and Spider need to be ed to reporthelp@northcross.nsw.edu TROUBLESHOOTING The School App is a work in progress. It will evolve as we work with the developers on how best to meet the needs of our school. As we are working on two different platforms Apple and Android and phones with different versions of operating systems, we will have glitches but it will be ok!! Remember as early adopters of this School App we are all in this together. Your patience in partnering with us is appreciated. Thank you!
