The fan cntrller daemn will nw run n OS X 10.5. The default fan cntrller speed is 1500 RPM n all systems. The speed can be cnfigured by the user. When resuming frm sleep, the driver waits tw secnds befre accessing the hardware t give the firmware adequate time t initialize. Several enhancements have been made thrughut the driver t reprt errrs and perate crrectly in degraded mde. Enhancements have been made in the APIs fr NVRAM, flashing and RAID management. The cntrller is n lnger reset when the driver is unladed t prevent issues when the driver is reladed. In additin, during RAID grup initializatin, users will have a chice between an Advanced Initializatin methd which will thrughly scan and clean the selected media minimizing the RAID grup s susceptibility t errrs. This is usually dne the first time a RAID grup is created and requires that n I/O be allwed during the prcess. Anther initializatin methd added, Express Initializatin, allws users t perfrm I/O during initializatin and is generally used when the media has previusly been thrugh a full initializatin cycle. Enhanced SES supprt: Mnitring and ntificatin f enclsure prperties (i.e. pwer, fan speed, etc.) Users are able t actively mnitr the characteristics f any SES supprted enclsure device. This includes viewing the status f the enclsure pwer supply, temperature and fan speed. Asynchrnus events are purged when entering pwer management t prevent pssible system hangs if drives are remved befre pwering system back up. Versin 2.00 (Released 1/24/2008) Nte: It is recmmended that firmware dated 01/23/08 be utilized with this driver release. The initial heartbeat timeut was reset t 20 secnds t address a shared interrupt issue. Driver versin 4.00 des nt supprt OS X Tiger (10.4), r earlier. Deep sleep is supprted nly n Intel Macs. PwerPC Macs will sleep, but nt deep sleep, s the sleep light will nt pulsate. A side effect is that when PwerPC systems are put t sleep, the fan speed will increase t the max until the system is awakened. 4.
