1 Prduct Release Ntes FastStream SC Firmware Release v General Release Infrmatin These prduct release ntes define the new features, changes, knwn issues and release details that apply t FastStream Strage Cntrller firmware versin 4.60, which was released n 4/15/ Changes Versin 4.60 (Released 4/15/14) Hardware RAID 50 Supprt Cmbines blck level striping f RAID 0 with distributed parity f RAID 5. At least 6 drives are needed t set up a RAID 50 Grup. Hardware RAID 60 Supprt Cmbines blck level striping f RAID 0 with distributed duble parity f RAID 6. At least 8 drives are needed t set up a RAID 60 Grup. Supprt fr 112 drives in a RAID 50 r 60 Grup via multiple RAID 5 and RAID 6 Axles 16 spaces available fr Ht Spare devices. 2 Increased resurces fr Fibre Channel prts which helps maintain perfrmance when mre than eight users are accessing strage attached t the FastStream. Imprved MultiPath Directr cmpatibility with ATTO Cnfig Tl fr Celerity Fibre Channel HBA's. When FCmultinde is disabled, a FastStream prcessr LUN has been added t allw system identificatin when used with MultiPath Directr. In the Cnfig Tl, the FastStream name will nw be displayed under the MultiPath Directr tree with RAID Grups listed underneath. *Nte that this feature requires the new versin f ATTO Cnfig Tl fr Celerity which will nt be available until Early March Incident Reslutins, Enhancements and Feature imprvements Imprved ASTEK 6Gb expander interperability t allw JBOD strage and enclsures which use this brand f expander t wrk with FastStream. Imprved interperability with Quantum StrNext and Apple Xsan with unique naming t make it easier t identify multiple LUNs f FastStream based strage. Versin 4.50 (Released 11/7/12) New Prducts Versin 4.50 intrduces supprt fr a new mdel t the FastStream prduct family with a new high-speed Fibre Channel interface fr high perfrmance strage needs. FastStream SC 9000 / 9000E This mdel features 16Gb Fibre Channel hst cnnectivity. The 9000 supprts up t 128 SAS and SATA disk drives and prvides the same rbust feature set that exist in the 5550 and Versin 4.30 (Released 3/8/12) Nte: Once upgrading t 4.30 yu will nly have the ability t back-flash t v4.30, flashing t prir versins is nt pssible. Please backup yur event lg as there have been changes that will clear the event lg when flashing t v4.30. SNMP supprt IPv6 cmpatibility with QuickNAV Updated Fusin netwrk stack Drive Perfrmance and Health Drive Inf page have been updated t display a filtered versin f the event lg. New Default Settings PassThrughMde - PassThrughMde is nw enabled t all by default. AutMapOnBt - Aut Mapping Drives n bt CLI cmmand added; disabled by default.

3 Versin 4.20 (Released 8/11/11) Nte: Once upgrading t 4.20 yu will nly have the ability t back-flash t v4.20, flashing t prir versins is nt pssible. New Alerts have been added t prvide imprved feedback when critical, infrmatinal r warning cnditins ccur. SES Slt t disk mapping is nw supprted via CLI Imprved autmatic mapping functinality fr pass-thrugh devices s that all prts are equally used when mapping these devices Disk Write Caching is nw an ptin when setting up RAID Grups. This allws users t set up maximum perfrmance (with Caching enabled) r maximum prtectin (with cache disabled). This feature is useful when using CacheAssure. Onbard Alarm Status is nw displayed n the ExpressNAV Mnitr webpage. The ExpressNAV GUI was updated with several tl tips and als had a reductin in verall text displayed n several f the interface webpages. ATTO DriveHealth is nw supprted frm the ExpressNAV GUI and prvides SMART data fr SATA drives and Medium Defects r Infrmatinal Exceptins fr SAS drives. The latest brwsers frm Micrsft (Internet Explrer), Mzilla (FireFx) and Apple (Safari) have been tested as interperable with ExpressNAV. Versin 4.06 (Released 3/11/11) Nte: Once upgrading t 4.06 n the 8550 yu will nly have the ability t back-flash t v4.05, flashing t prir versins is nt pssible. DriveHealth functinality has been added via CLI. This feature prvides access t drive data which may help estimate the drive health f SAS r SATA disk drives. This data is prvided thrugh SMART, Medium Defects r Infrmatinal Exceptins, results are subjective and may vary by manufacturer. 3 CLI cmmands were added t supprt this functinality; DriveHealth, DriveHealthStatus and DriveHealthDisplay. Perfrmance Imprvements have been rlled in t the FastStream frm ATTO s Universal Virtual Device Architecture (UVDA) fr the ExpressSAS RAID Adapter. In lab testing this has shwn imprvement n writes when using SAS and SATA drives. Versin 4.05 (Released 2/18/11) Nte: Once upgrading t 4.05 n affected dual bt platfrms (5550, 8250, 8550), backflashing t previus firmware releases is n lnger pssible. Dual Flash ROM Images fr greater reliability when flashing new firmware n the FastStream. The FastStream will revert t the previus image in memry in the event f a failed firmware update. User Selectable Firmware Images allws users t manually revert between the current and previus versin f firmware in the event f system instability after upgrading t a new versin f firmware. New Default Settings Interleave Interleave size nw defaults t 256KB when creating new RAID Grups FC Cnnectin Mde - Default Fibre Channel cnnectin mde is nw PTP Preferred Nte that existing installs shuld be checked after upgrade t make sure their Fibre Channel HBA cnnectivity is nt disrupted by the new settings. CacheAssure mnitring Fr mdels which supprt the CacheAssure feature, an alert is nw generated when the CacheAssure hardware is missing r brken.

4 FastStream SC 8500 This mdel was updated with the latest bug fixes. Majr new features fund in the 5550, 8250 and 8550 are nt available n the Versin 4.00 (Released 10/14/10) New Prducts The FastStream family has been upgraded with new mdels which add n t the rbust feature set f the FastStream prduct line. These prducts include: FastStream SC 5550 / 5550E An updated versin f the FastStream 5500 with new features utlined belw. The 5550 supprts up t 64 SAS and SATA disk drives and prvides 4Gb Fibre Channel hst cnnectivity FastStream SC 8250 / 8250E An updated versin f the FastStream 8200 with new features utlined belw. The 8250 supprts up t 128 SAS and SATA disk drives and prvides 6Gb SAS hst cnnectivity FastStream SC 8550 / 8550E An updated versin f the FastStream 8500 with new features utlined belw. The 8550 supprts up t 128 SAS and SATA disk drives and prvides 8Gb Fibre Channel hst cnnectivity New Mdel Features CacheAssure is a maintenance-free flash-based data prtectin mdule that safeguards against the lss f cached data even during catastrphic system failures. CacheAssure des nt use a battery, prvides lifetime backup f cached data, Immediate RAID prtectin is maintenance free and envirnmentally friendly. This feature is an ptinal add-n t the FastStream Strage Cntrller. Onbard Audible Alarm an audible alarm is nw present t alert users f issues with the cntrller this feature may be enabled r disabled frm ExpressNAV r CLI Updated Flash ROM capacity increased ROM capacity t enable future feature which will prvide dual flash ROMs fr reliability while upgrading FastStream firmware Sft Pwer Reset (embeddable mdels nly) allws custmers t add a sft-click type reset t their enclsures which use the FastStream as their RAID cntrller New Internal SAS prts (embedded mdels nly) updated prts t SFF-8087 custmers will need t migrate ver frm the SFF-8484 cnnectrs which were n the 5500, 8200 and 8500 Versin 3.86 (Released 9/7/10) Bug fixes t prevent issues t the SAN when an Apple Mac wrkstatin with nn- ATTO HBA s rebt while cnnected t the FastStream 8500 and 8550 nly. Versin 3.85 (Released 7/28/10) Ability t disable/enable FUA Bit t imprve perfrmance with SAS drives and certain applicatins like Assimilate Scratch. This addresses current custmer issues with the 7500 and 8500 nly. Versin 3.84 (Released 6/18/10) DriveAssure Data Recvery Mde allws access t data in ffline RAID Grups via Basic and Extreme Recvery mdes. Has the ability t frce a rebuild t cmplete when errrs are encuntered n a member drive. Knwn Issues/Advisements Mdify Partitining imprved nw easier t split and merge partitins after a RAID Grup has been created Updated Initial Setup menu t better identify creating RAID Grups and system prcesses Cmbined Quick Digital and General Digital Vide ne-buttn setups t create a mre efficient Digital Vide ptin Added new infrmatin fields when yu hver ver drives in when setting up a RAID Grup r in the Drive Detail page. New fields include Disk Speed, Disk State, Device Type, LUN and RAID Grup usage Frm the GUI yu may nly select 2 degraded drives t rebuild at a time. Hwever yu can select 2 additinal degraded drives each time yu g back int the rebuild screen. When setting up RAID 50 and 60 Grups frm the GUI, drives added are added in rder that they are clicked upn and added sequentially by axle. In Windws envirnments yu may receive a message t install drivers fr the FastStream. There are n drivers, simply click cancel and this message shuld nt appear again n subsequent rebts. This GUI in this versin f firmware nly supprts versins f Micrsft Internet Explrer after IE8. Versin IE8 and prir are nt supprted. Versin 4.57 supprts the FastStream SC 8550 nly, versin 4.30 is the latest versin fr the 5550 mdel FastStream Strage Cntrllers. Drive perfrmance metrics via CLI and GUI may nt be accurate when I/O is passed t multiple RAID Grups. The CLI "Perfrmance" cmmand will shw accurate aggregate system perfrmance metrics. Phy link status will be ut f date fr 10 secnds after cable pull, insertin, r event. This will delay any SNMP traps by 10 secnds as well. This is a limitatin f Intel s firmware. Phy link status will nt be updated n ne cable event, when tw cables are cnnected t the same strage. This will prevent an SNMP trap frm being sent. This is a limitatin based n Intel s firmware. Dell MD1200 array will nt be recgnized n SES at bt ccasinally, r will timeut. This has been deemed a 3 rd party issue. In OS X cnfiguratins, munted RAID grups may nt disappear frm desktp when deleted. When using strage enclsures with LSI 12 prt daisy-chained expanders, supprt is currently limited t tw levels f expanders. This issue des nt ccur with ther expander manufacturers. When using Internet Explrer in Windws 2008 Server, javascript is disabled by default. The ExpressNAV Strage Manager requires this functinality t be enabled. Please enable within the security settings f Internet Explrer.

6 Seagate Barracuda AS Gen 11 disk drives are intended fr desktp use. These drives are NOT recmmended fr use with the ATTO FastStream at this time. Affected mdels include ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS and ST AS. Please visit ATTO r Seagate's website fr mre infrmatin and ptential drive firmware updates. When cnnecting wide-prted SAS devices (RAID Arrays) t the FastStream, perfrmance will be limited t the bandwidth single PHY per SAS cnnectin (300 MB/sec). This issue des nt ccur when using JBOD strage with the FastStream When replacing the SAS cable n the FastStream, drives may nt shw up in the ExpressNAV Strage Manager. Please pwer cycle the strage and FastStream t see attached drives. When using nline capacity expansin, individual drives n the Health and Status Mnitr page will shw up as CONVRT 0% instead f nline; drives and RAID grups will be nline and accessible. A rebt f the FastStream will clear this status. BlckDevIdentify cmmand des nt wrk crrectly fr Fujitsu drives. Once upgrading t 4.30, frm a firmware versin prir t 4.20, n affected dual bt platfrms (5550, 8550), back-flashing t previus firmware releases is n lnger pssible. Once upgrading t 4.20, frm a firmware versin prir t 4.20, previus event lg entries will be lst. If necessary, back up event lg prir t firmware upgrade. 4.
