TVOICE: Troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications v8

Transcription:

VIE makes video calling as simple and ubiquitous as traditional voice calling - regardless of network, service or device. VIE: THE WORLD'S FIRST GLOBAL VIDEO EXCHANGE BRINGING TOGETHER VIDEO CONFERENCING AND 2-WAY VIDEO CALLING SERVICES. The adoption of core IP next generation network infrastructure has fuelled deployment and usage of Unified Communications (UC) and Video Conferencing services within enterprise environments, enabling more productive realtime collaboration through the use of video technology. In addition, the wider availability and accessibility of Web 2.0 services and web enabled devices is also driving usage of video services. Consumers now have access to a plethora of communication apps and channels enabling video calling at the click of a button. The benefits of video communications are clear, however, most video services are limited to within the video service providers own network. Adoption of video conferencing and calling services will dramatically increase when these services are available on a cross-network basis. 1

With multiple video services, applications, platforms, and devices; Video communications is a thriving but fragmented community. THE NEED FOR INTERCONNECTION The interconnection between video service provider networks is a complex and challenging issue. The legacy TDM based PSTN interconnect infrastructure cannot support IP Video calls. Furthermore, the complexities of interworking between the different protocols and codecs used in video communications means that video services are usually limited to within the service providers own network and therefore to their own customers and subscribers. For video services to be available ubiquitously across disparate networks, an interconnect platform that supports end to end IP interconnection to enable cross-network video calling. VIE: MULTILATERAL FEDERATION INTERCONNECTION XConnect s VIE service is the world s first neutral Global Video Exchange that addresses the interconnection and interworking challenges faced by Video Service providers. With a single connection to the VIE hub, Video Service Providers gain immediate multilateral all IP interconnection to multiple video networks with multiprotocol support, transcoding, full configurability and policy management. 2

and Interworking between different video services is essential for the mass adoption and success of video communications. VIE TECHNOLOGY VIE utilises XConnect s market leading multimedia hub and ENUM registry technology to deliver a secure, neutral and carrier grade interconnection infrastructure. ACCESS & CONNECTIVITY VIE is accessible via a QoS enabled Private IP ior high quality Public IP interconnection into one of XConnect s globally distributed PoP s located in the USA, Europe, Asia and Africa. REGISTRY The ENUM Registry is at the heart of VIE. The Registry contains details of all the video endpoints for VIE members, it s primary function is to allow Service Providers to know whether a particular video end point can be reached via VIE. INTERCONNECT HUB Mediates the signalling and media between VIE members and supports interworking where necessary ADDRESSING & ROUTING Support for private and public numbering plans and URI dialling 3

VIE adopts a standards based approach to interconnecting disparate video networks. PEERING POLICY Members have full control over their peering relationship with other networks. Members can choose who they peer with and the terms of their peering relationships. VIDEO DIRECTORY The web based Video Directory enables end-users to quickly and easily search and discover user details for other VIE members. INDUSTRY LED DEVELOPMENT XConnect is working closely with industry bodies such as ATIS and the Open Visual Collaboration Consortium (OVCC) to ensure VIE is consistent and inline with emerging standards and frameworks for the interconnection of Video networks and services. We plan to offer interworking with the OVCC community to extend the reach of video conferencing and calling services between the two communities. 4

Full service feature set to resolve the complexities and address challenges of Video interconnection and interworking RICH FEATURE SET OFF-NET REACH OF SERVICES: Interworking between Video Conference, OTT, Fixed and Mobile Video Services VIDEO CONFERENCING 2 WAY VIDEO CALLING SECURITY Protection against SPIT, spoofing & Identity validation VIE PORTAL ACCESS Identify new networks, create and manage interconnection relationships POLICY CONTROL & MANAGEMENT VIE Portal VIE Portal ROUTING & ADDRESSING & NUMBER MANAGEMENT DIRECTORY ACCESS Searchable Directory of VIE members and end-user details.
