2 ProcessLogix R510.0 Server Installation Instructions Important User Information Solid state equipment has operational characteristics differing from those of electromechanical equipment. Safety Guidelines for the Application, Installation and Maintenance of Solid State Controls (Publication SGI-1.1 available from your local Rockwell Automation sales office or online at http://www.literature.rockwellautomation.com) describes some important differences between solid state equipment and hard-wired electromechanical devices. Because of this difference, and also because of the wide variety of uses for solid state equipment, all persons responsible for applying this equipment must satisfy themselves that each intended application of this equipment is acceptable. In no event will Rockwell Automation, Inc. be responsible or liable for indirect or consequential damages resulting from the use or application of this equipment. The examples and diagrams in this manual are included solely for illustrative purposes. Because of the many variables and requirements associated with any particular installation, Rockwell Automation, Inc. cannot assume responsibility or liability for actual use based on the examples and diagrams. No patent liability is assumed by Rockwell Automation, Inc. with respect to use of information, circuits, equipment, or software described in this manual. Reproduction of the contents of this manual, in whole or in part, without written permission of Rockwell Automation, Inc., is prohibited. Throughout this manual, when necessary, we use notes to make you aware of safety considerations. WARNING! ATTENTION! Identifies information that is critical for successful application and understanding of the product. Identifies information about practices or circumstances that can lead to personal injury or death, property damage, or economic loss. Attentions help you to identify a hazard, avoid a hazard, and recognize the consequences. SHOCK HAZARD Labels may be located on or inside the equipment, for example, a drive or motor, to alert people that dangerous voltage may be present. BURN HAZARD Labels may be located on or inside the equipment, for example, a drive or motor, to alert people that surfaces may be dangerous temperatures.

ProcessLogix R510.0 Server Installation Instructions 3 Installing the 1784-PCIC Card If you are using Ethernet for your Supervisory Network, skip to Installing the Windows 2000 license and Warranty Transfer on page 3. Before powering on the system, you must install the 1784-PCIC card. The 1784-PCIC is purchased separately from the ProcessLogix Server. Refer to the ControlNet PCI Communication Interface Card Installation Instructions for complete installation details. Installing the Windows 2000 license and Warranty Transfer 1. Turn on the computer. 2. Select I accept this agreement and click Next. 3. Verify the information on the Regional Settings window and click Next. 4. Enter the appropriate Name and Organization and click Next. 5. Enter your Windows 2000 Server Product Key and click Next. Windows Server 2003 licenses can be downgraded to use or access Windows 2000 Server. If you have a Windows 2003 Server license key on your PC, contact Dell Technical support at 1-888-560-8324 to request a Windows 2000 Server license key. 6. At the Date and Time Settings window: a. If necessary, adjust the Date and Time settings. b. Set the appropriate Time Zone for your location. c. Uncheck the Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes chekcbox. d. Click Next. ATTENTION! Failure to uncheck the automatic adjustment for daylight savings time checkbox will cause a redundant server pair to lose sync when the time is automatically adjusted. Choosing not to automatically adjust the time allows you to decide when to make the adjustment (at a time that is not critical to your process). 7. At the Windows 2000 Setup window, click Restart Now. If there is a delay clicking Restart Now, setup automatically restarts the PC.

4 ProcessLogix R510.0 Server Installation Instructions 8. In order to receive support from Dell, you must fill out their warranty transfer form. The U.S. Ownership Transfer Form is only available online at: https://support.dell.com/dellcare/tagtransfer.aspx The International Unit Location Transfer Form is only available online at: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topics/reftopic.aspx/pub/ccare/transfer_intl Logging on to Windows 2000 1. Press <Ctrl> + <Alt> + <Delete> to initiate Windows 2000 logon. 2. Enter >ps_user< as the User name. 3. Enter >Proce$$510< as the default password. TIP If you purchased a new ProcessLogix R510.0 Server from Rockwell Automation, the default passwords for ps_user and Administrator were set to Proce$$510 for security reasons. 4. Press <Enter> or click OK to complete the logon. TIP You must repeat the above steps every time you restart the Server. Configuring the 1784-PCIC Card If you are using Ethernet for your Supervisory Network, skip to Changing the PC Name, below. Refer to 1784-PCIC Driver and Installation and 1784-PCIC Firmware Installation in Chapter 7 of the R510.0 I&UG for details.

ProcessLogix R510.0 Server Installation Instructions 5 Changing the PC Name If you purchased a new ProcessLogix R510.0 Server from Rockwell Automation, the operating system and ProcessLogix software have already been installed. Once the ProcessLogix R510.0 software is installed, changing the computer name requires a full uninstall and reinstall of all the ProcessLogix R510.0 software. Refer to Changing the Computer Name on a ProcessLogix Server in Chapter 8 of the R510.0 I&UG. PC Naming Rules The Factory default PC Names are PLX1, PLX1A, or PLX1B. If you have more than 1 PC on the same network, you must make certain that the PC names and IP addresses are unique (i.e. PLX1, PLX2). The base name cannot contain more than 13 alphanumeric characters and must contain no spaces. The full computer name cannot contain more than 14 alphanumeric characters. The following naming conventions are required for given ProcessLogix system architectures. For non-redundant Server, be sure the name does not end in the letter A or B. The default name is PLX1. For redundant Servers, append a letter to the base name to identify the PC s function in the system architecture beginning with the letters A and B for the primary and secondary Servers, respectively. The default name for the primary Server (SERVERA), is PLX1A and the default name for the secondary Server (SERVERB) is PLX1B. (14 Character total: Up to 13 Base plus A or B) Changing the Network Settings 1. Click Start Settings Network and Dial-up Connections. 2. Right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties. 3. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. 4. In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties Window: a. Select the Use the following IP address option. b. Enter the appropriate IP address information.

6 ProcessLogix R510.0 Server Installation Instructions The following Private Networking IP Address scheme can be utilized for the system to operate: Table 1 Private Networking IP Address scheme Server Type Non-Redundant Server or Primary Redundant Server Suggested Private Networking IP Address NIC 1: 192.168.0.1 NIC 2: 192.168.1.1 NIC 3: 192.168.2.1 Backup Redundant Server NIC 1: 192.168.0.2 NIC 2: 192.168.1.2 NIC 3: 192.168.2.2 c. Enter the Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0. d. Enter a default gateway if necessary. IP Addresses are critical to the communication of the system. Rockwell Automation suggests, when possible, to utilize a Private Network for the control system, not connected to any other networks. This isolates the control system from interference from any business communication. In some organizations it is important for these addresses to be controlled by the IT organization. Consult your company s practices and IT organization for the appropriate IP address information. It will be necessary to use valid IP information to integrate the ProcessLogix Control system with the Business Network. 5. Click OK.

ProcessLogix R510.0 Server Installation Instructions 7 Creating an Emergency Repair Disk 1. Insert a floppy disk into your PC. 2. Click Start Programs Accessories System Tools Backup. 3.
