3 COMMUNICATION DESIGN AWARDS OVERVIEW AAS CURRICULUM - 60 Credit Hours The Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS) degrees require a minimum of 60 credit hours with at least half of the coursework in a common technical specialty area and a minimum of 15 credit hours of general education courses to complement the technical courses in the area of study. AAS is awarded upon completion of a prescribed program of study. The award is designed to prepare students to enter and compete in the job market. AAS curricula enables the graduate to enter an occupation with marketable skills, an acceptable level of technical competency, and the ability to communicate effectively. AAS GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES - 15 Credit Hours Collin s AAS General Education courses consist of three credit hours each from English, Speech Communication, Natural Science or Mathematics, Humanities or Fine Arts, and Social or Behavioral Sciences.
