2 Overview Dedicated Servers B2W Software products require a dedicated server to host SQL Server databases and application services. There are several reasons for this: When troubleshooting an issue with a B2W Software product or Microsoft SQL Server, rebooting the server may be a necessary step. Rebooting a non-dedicated server is not always feasible. Troubleshooting certain issues may require that a B2W Software support rep be granted access to your server, a privilege we would prefer not to have on a non-dedicated server. B2W Software products may require specific levels of Windows and/or SQL Server Service Packs. Applying these service packs may conflict with existing applications on a non-dedicated server. The sheer volume of retail software products on the market today makes it difficult for our QA department to test a B2W Software product s interaction with all but the most common and prolific applications. A dedicated server ensures that you will have the best experience possible, free of unexpected results from interactions with other untested programs. Since we cannot predict the load that other applications will place on the server, we are unable to guarantee good performance on a non-dedicated server. If there is an issue with another application that brings your server down, your B2W Software product goes down as well. B2W Software products are mission critical applications. A fast server running only B2W Software products is the only way to ensure exceptional performance and reliability. Small Business Servers & Windows Server Essentials B2W Software products cannot be installed on a Windows Small Business Server or Windows Server Essentials. These environments are not dedicated servers and all B2W Software products require a dedicated server. For example, many of these installations act as a domain controller, an server, or even a web server. B2W Software does not certify their software on unsupported platforms. 32-bit and 64-bit Operating Systems All B2W Software products are certified on both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Citrix and Terminal Servers B2W Estimate is certified in Citrix and Terminal Server environments. Your implementation specialist will work with you to ensure that the hardware specifications of your Citrix or Terminal Server ensure optimum performance. Virtual Servers All B2W Software products can be installed on a virtual server provided the server meets or exceeds the hardware and software requirements outlined in this document.

3 Microsoft SQL Server Licensing All B2W Software products use Microsoft SQL Server as their database engine. B2W Software products require an English instance of SQL Server using the default collation setting named: SQL_ Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS 5 or Fewer Installations with 5 or fewer total users across all B2W Software products may use Express, Standard or Enterprise editions of SQL Server. SQL Server Express, a free edition of SQL Server, is recommended only for clients with a total of 5 or fewer users across all B2W Software products, and has the following limitations: Limited maximum database size. SQL Server Express editions have a maximum database size of 10 GB. Once your database reaches the maximum size, SQL Server Express will not allow you save additional data of any sort. Microsoft Reporting Services Limitations. SQL Server Express editions of SQL Server Reporting Services do not support reporting services subscriptions, and do not support Report Builder. For these reasons, SQL Server Express Edition is not recommended for clients with more than 5 users. For example, if your company owns 5 B2W Estimate licenses and 8 licenses for the B2W Operational Suite, you will notice much better performance with a full edition of SQL Server. More Than 5 To support more than 5 users of B2W Software products, you will need a full edition of SQL Server. For information about purchasing SQL Server, please visit the Microsoft SQL Server page at: B2W Maintain If your company uses B2W Maintain, choose Microsoft SQL Server Standard or Enterprise editions. The Express edition does not support all functionality available in B2W Maintain.

4 B2W Dedicated Server Hardware Requirements (under 100 users) The following hardware requirements have been certified for use with the B2W Operational Suite and/or Estimate on a dedicated server. HDD Hard Disk GB GB GB GB GB GB B2W Dedicated Server Hardware Requirements (over 100 users) For installations of Operational Suite only or Operational Suite and Estimate together, at least two dedicated servers, one for the web application and one for the Microsoft SQL database, are required. Each server should contain the minimum of: 2 GHz, 8 Core CPU(s) 32 GB RAM Depending on number of users, usage and transactions, the hard disk space will vary, and the CPU and RAM requirements will increase in accordance. Consult B2W Client Services for assistance on determining the specific needs for your installation. The Microsoft SQL database should be configured to store data and log files on separate drives (preferably separate physical drives). Database performance is significantly enhanced with this configuration since read I/O for database files is typically random and I/O for the transaction log is typically sequential. Additionally, if the database is using FULL recovery mode the transaction log can still be used for recovery if the drive for the database files is lost but the drive for the transaction log is still available bit processors recommended for 10 or more users.

5 B2W Dedicated Server Software Requirements The following software requirements have been certified for use with the B2W Operational Suite and/or Estimate on a dedicated server or multiple server configuration. Versions not listed or included for a product are currently not certified. Estimate Operational Suite Both Operating System Windows Server , 2008 R2, 2012, or 2012 R2 Microsoft.NET Framework Internet Information Services (IIS) Microsoft SQL Server & SQL Server Reporting Services Express 4, Standard, or Enterprise 5 Edition: 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014 (SSRS for Management Reporting) Express 4, Standard, or Enterprise 5 Edition: 2008 (SP2), 2008 R2, 2012, Server An server that supports Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP), such as Microsoft Exchange Server, is required for delivery of report subscriptions. Microsoft Excel , 2010, or 2013 Not Required 2007, 2010, or FTP Services 7.5 is required on this operating system to use the Estimate Auto-Update feature. Estimate's Management Reporting also requires IIS. 3 Microsoft.NET 3.5 is a prerequisite for all installations. 4 Express SQL editions have a max database size of 10 GB and do not support all functionality available in B2W Maintain. 5 Standard and Enterprise SQL editions require a license for each user who accesses the B2W Operational Suite and/or Estimate. 6 If you intend to use B2W Estimate s embedded Excel workbooks or DOT Item Database add-ins, Microsoft Excel must be installed.

6 B2W Client Workstation Hardware & Software Requirements The following requirements have been certified for use with the B2W Operational Suite and/or Estimate on a workstation. These protocols make it possible for delivery of bid forms, RFQs, and messages sent to B2W Software Support. Internet Browser Internet Explorer 11 (32-bit) Compatibility Mode 10 Internet Explorer 11, Firefox (B2W Track requires IE11 for field log functionality because of Silverlight.) Chrome (Maintain only) 7 Excluding Home and Starter editions 8 Excluding RT and Metro editions 9 Required for B2W Estimate s embedded workbooks feature 10 Required for B2W Estimate Enterprise Edition s Custom Properties feature

7 B2W Mobile Workstation Additional Software Requirements The following additional requirements have been certified for use with the B2W Operational Suite and/or Estimate being used as a stand-alone workstation. Estimate Operational Suite Hard Disk Internet Information Services (IIS) Microsoft SQL Server & SQL Server Reporting Services 100 GB (SP2), 2008 R2, 2012 or 2014 Express Edition (Reporting Services included at no charge with Express with Advanced Services Edition) B2W Mobile Tablet Device Requirements Capacity RAM 16 GB (ipad & Android) 2 GB (ipad & Android) Operating System ipads: ios 7 and higher Note: For users choosing ipads, the ipad Air 64-bit, 16 GB is strongly recommended. Android devices: Android 4.1 and higher Note: For users choosing Android devices, the Nexus 10 or Nexus 7 are strongly recommended. Min. Screen Resolution 1024x768 or greater Synchronization Requirements High-speed Internet connection A publicly accessible URL or VPN connection is required to support synchronization with the B2W server when not in the office.
